TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

So apparently people are dodging in Ranked based on their opponent's ranking already. I guess that's the result of having the ability to select your opponent based on all criteria. People on Twitter are already asking for this "feature" to be removed.
Are ther non ranked matches...aka player matches?

I think Harada is right though, it isn't a terrible idea for new players and takes a bit of the fear / stress out of ranked that tends to scare off newer players. It just needs to be something that you can no longer do once you hit 1st Dan or something.

They should just have a trial range of ranks where you can't lose points in matches (and doing well in initial placement matches means you skip this range). I'd be fine with your opponent's rank being a mystery until the player exits the beginner ranks if players really were afraid of getting steamrolled by high rankers.

My copy just arrived, thanks amazon EU!
Two things I've noticed. Resolution seems low on base ps4, a bit blurry graphics, specially in some stages.
Trophies/achievements seems broken easy, they dont let you unlock some of the typical "do 20 juggles" "do 50 rages arts" in offline vs, but you can in practice!
You can pretty much achieve most of them in a practice session.

900p on regular PS4 and some stages have some effects that affect the way it looks. At least it doesnt seem to have the smeared vaseline look one of Tekken 5 stages had.

For anyone still waiting for their cdkeys code, go through your emails and find the order confirmation one you got when you first made the order.

Yeah, I knew the 900p, but I've seen crispier 900p in other games, don't know, but I guess I'll get used to it.
Some stages have a noise effect, I don't like it, but it could be worse.

So I just found out that this game has "screw" attacks are these universal to the game or different for each character?

Need to find a way to implement it into Dragunov combos.

That seems like something that should only exist in casual mode.

I see it another way. I see it as because Harada and his team said okay to do a Season Pass, that made the higher ups give them a budget to do the Season Pass content, because they have faith in getting revenue through this business decision. Alas, your 1 year of post-launch content is what you'll get with the Season Pass content.

They got a budget for DLC in order to keep Tekken Team on the project and available for updates for a year+. The Season Pass is probably how they sold it to Namco, and will be able to show them a good ROI. But it lets them stay together to work on everything they want to do, free or not. If you want to be pessimistic about it and think we aren't getting any free content, that's up to you, but most people are expecting some free DLC.

There is being negative, and then there's being unrealistic. There can be a realistic expectation of free DLC such as stability patches/move updates, generic cosmetic accessories, new titles/life-bar decals, etc. And then there is expecting full blown characters (not locked on the disc) as free DLC on the other end of the spectrum.

Yep that's how I took it. Makes sense too. I mean if they keep bringing up the TTT2 comparisons and they've stated that they want this game to have a longer amount of support (with Harada even mentioning free updates in that Twitter post) it's pretty clear. People might not expect free DLC, but we're going by their track record and their comments. The Season Pass seems exclusively for guest characters (with guest stages), a brand new modes and specialty costumes. That doesn't say we won't get further customization however.

Idk, I really didn't think others could take their words any different. People expecting free DLC characters has been common for months and judging their words, that's probably what we're going to get.

So if I buy it from CDkeys right now, will I get it before launch?
Never really used them before.

you'd more than likely get the key since they are sending them out to people now...but you wouldn't get the pre-order DLC (Eliza)

for a few cents more you can go to a place like GamersGate, Gamebillet, etc and get that content

all characters have a select number of moves in their movelist that cause screw.

Also you have to buy the King x Okada costume in the shop with fight money, its 3 pieces and cost like 1.600.000.
You receive 3.000.000 for just launching the game, so its ok :)

All things considered, the spectrum for this game isn't that wide. I don't view potential classic characters as unrealistic :)

Game unlocks tonight!! Can't wait!!!!! :D

Yeah, agreed. At this point I think we all just have to wait and see. Maybe some PC datamining will shed some light on anything they already have cooked up.

I mean, I can speak from my perspective that if they drop Lei from the roster completely and have no replacement for his style, I probably won't be back for T8. That's how strongly I feel that he should be in the game, not only because I've been playing him for 20 years, but because he's as Tekken as Paul's haircut and Heihachi's underwear. I could say the same about the Changs and Anna, but Lei's my dude. Right now I'm giving Harada my $60 and my faith, so we'll see if that pans out.

Got it. I will have to go through the move lists when I get home and see what they are. I assume they have an annotation on them? Saw some green symbol next to some moves so those are probably it.

Did you know Halo invented the FPS?
Is there no fast way to search for ranked games? I watched a few streams and it seems annoying where it would take 20-30 seconds to search for a list of players and hope the opponent doesn't decline in case it searches again

Question about those who haven't touched Tekken since 2,3,5 or the rest. What pulled you back into the series? Does 7 have something the others didn't in your eyes?
I didn't like TTT in its time, and I didnt like TTT2 either. I don't know why! It's Tekken and I should love them, but no, I honestly barely touched Tag 2 while 6 is my favourite entry in the series (as someone who has been playing since T2). So I guess I take small Tekken breaks when TTT shows up.

How can everyone play? Mine says "installing update" but it's already installed. I can only play offline and practice mode. :(

This was my Miguel in TTT2. Imagine the harness and leather pants now. I may even leave the regular hair untouched on the new one.

Holy smokes. I will follow your posting closely.

You also have to look at the fact that these other DLC characters that aren't Eliza aren't on the disc, they'll have to be downloaded. Given that, and given how long Harada and Murray said it takes to create a new character, it would be far easier for you to download a classic character. If they're not on the disc then that's likely because they received a massive amount of backlash for having DLC on-disc even though it was free. I remember Harada's Twitter comments around then.

People gave them hell for that. Chances are they're smarter this time around.

But yeah I completely understand. I'm sure Lei, Anna and Julia will eventually arrive. I'd be more surprised if they didn't.

I can see what you mean. Tag is great and all but when I think of Tekken I think of 1v1.

To be fair the game doesn't officially release until Friday so that may be the reason for slow matchmaking.

As someone who has a good enough ping to play this with no issues, but rural internet speeds (2MB down), is there any point in me preloading this now? Probably won't finish til like Sunday or Monday. Just wondering if the fact it has to shift from preload to normal download might mess it up.

Who are some recommended characters for pad players?

Others can answer better than I can on this but I'll say I've been playing Tekken since 2 and I always use a pad. Never had any issues personally. More Tekken players use pad than SF players from what I've seen. It's one of the most accessible fighters out there for pad players compared to using a stick.

Personally I'm not planning to reject any ranked matches.. aside from maybe some laggy players. Getting worked by better players is part of the experience haha..

I'm spending most of the weekend in Arcade and Treasureghost battles until I get a handle on the game anyway

It's so ugly, though.

:(

I always wondered who the audience for that stuff was, other then obnoxious people who hate everyone, but those aren't people you should cater to.

Maybe it's just a goofy japanese thing I don't have enough context to understand.

I started playing fighting games again last year with GG Xrd -SIGN- after palying quite a few of them growing up. My brother and I would play MvC2, Tekken, SvC a lot, but I sorta fell out of them when nothing really piqued my interest. I started playing BlazBlue several years ago, but recently the art style isn't really gelling with me. While I prefer 2D fighters, Capcom's recent output has left me wanting, and I've always had a soft spot for Tekken. Even if I haven't been keeping up with the series.

The last Tekken I played was either 5 or TTT2, but I never really got into it. Some of the fondest memories I have are of my older brother and me beating the shit out of each other when Tekken 3 launched. We spent days in front of the TV unlocking all of the costumes and endings, with some VS sprinkled in for good measure.

I've been on a fighting game kick for a while now with Injustice 2, Rev 2 and a little bit of SFV for good measure (still can't hold my attention for more than a few days at a time). I'm just kinda in the mood to consume any fighting game right now. With the end of the Mishima Saga here I think it's time to see how far the franchise has come in my 20 year absence.

Dat Okada King.

I'm going to enjoy putting Bullet Club shirts on my mains. Like Jeff said, I gotta let em know what I'm about.

You know, I've had so many arguments with people who think Akuma was a bad idea when really him being in has given this series new life and a new audience that it didn't have for a good while. I mean, I get why people don't want Akuma in "their Tekken" and all but it's only a positive for the growth of the series. He's really helping in that area.

This is another reason. Akuma's addition doesn't hurt either.

random pet peeve that doesn't actually matter but is strange. when you select 2p Kuma(with armor) his character select icon and graphic turns into the armor kuma. This also happens with Lee and Violet, which makes more sense than Kuma. Everyone else just has an icon and render for their 1p. why is Kuma different?

The only time I have a problem with using a pad is with down-diagonals. I'm inconsistent with those. At least I was on the DS3, maybe the DS4 pad will be better.

As for turning off customizations, tweet Harada about it!! Please.

They are terrible. The only customizations that I have liked are the ones in Injustice 2 as they stick to their character pretty well IMO.

Tekken 6 was pretty good about that. Minimal goofy items (outside of goofy characters), and lots of items that suited the character they were made for. I'm (slowly) compiling images of every character's customization from that game, but for the time being here's something similar I made back when 7's console customization was revealed.

I keep waiting for them to head back in that direction, but... :\

I didn't mind Tekken 6 customizations not sure why they made the Tekken 7 system is such a step back.

I won't customize any characters myself but I understand that there are people that do.
