Is there anyone here who plays on wifi on the PC version at 4k and can let me know how it is? I see alot of veteran players complaining about PC players with their graphics too high. I have a 3090 but is this a game where if I don't have the ability to do ethernet/powerline, I should just avoid online so that I don't put another player through a slideshow?

When joining a battle, it presents each player with the opportunity to back out based on the estimated connection quality. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not really sure what PC complaints you mean. It sounds like people just looking for something to blame. Probably half my matches are against PC players and I have never seen the icon show anything but good for both wifi connection and PC performance. It's interesting that the game even shows your opponent's performance, though!

Do you want to they replace every moves with every new version? Is Ryu's Hadouken different with each new version?
Jin has a lots different moves other than that you know?
And how to play Jin in Tekken 8 is completely different compare to Tekken 3.

You csn easily differentiate every entry from the other, animations, character designs, etc. While put Tekken 3, Tekken 6 and Tekken 8 next to each other and they look like the same game but with different levels of visuals.

These characters have an average 100+ moves on their move lists with plenty of them being new on a 32 roster game at launch. New rage arts, heat mechanics, etc. You can’t really ask for more other than Tekken Tag item moves.

MK1 is gaas garbage. I say that after 60hrs and the platinum. Literally EVERY MK game has the same overall gameplay and mechanics, and many returning characters come back game after game. The overall fighting in every MK game is the same as well.......fighting side by side, but with prettier graphics. Your comparison isn't remotely valid, sorry

What about this then? I'm sure there are plenty of moves in MK look the same across each versions.
Look at these video I realized MK animation is the worst in every fighting game.

And now you just demonstrated that you don’t know the difference between ”moves” and “animations”. Yes, Liu Kang does the same bycicle kick move in every game but the animation is not the same. Do you really not see this? I don’t want different MOVES in Tekken, I want their ANIMATION to evolve.

Reina is my first Mishima main. While she is fun to play but doing all these Ewgf, wave dash,wave dash cancel,.. is hurting my hand lol.

That move of Liu Kang from the first MK to 11 has almost the same animation, the different maybe some has different camera angle or add 1 more kick in the end. Only in new Mk 1 they changed it completely.

I'm using 3060Ti at 1440p pretty much maxed out and it looks and runs great. Shouldn't be a problem for you, given the million upscaling techniques the game comes with. You can play online just fine.
 
I managed to wavedash a bit in T7, but can't manage it for the life of me in T8, guess I'll just stick with twitchy movement instead.

That shouldn't be possible, heat dash just closes the distance and puts you in a mixup sitation, it doesn't give you a guaranteed combo afterwards; if you managed to connect a hit after "phoenix smasher" > heat dash, then it sounds like your opponent simply isn't blocking.

I mean the dash you get when you are already in heat mode by holding forward.

You can combo it. Its one of the challenges too.

There should be separate rooms where special mode is usable in online matches.

All the people who want to use special mode can go live on Special Island and be happy.

I want to fight people who actually control their characters.

On one hand, these people only have four moves to defend against. On the other hand, it is annoying as hell. For a game where learning the timing of juggles is basically the entire game, having your opponent be able to do it perfectly with a single button if they happen to land a hit is infuriating.

On the positive side, it seems extremely rare for anyone to actually use special style. I've only seen one in a few dozen matches.

I can see why it was added. There are waaaaaaaaay too many characters to learn. There is no way that I am learning 30 movesets just to play through the character stories.

My medicine is doing the same thing. I flick it on against them, and they basically never blocked the square button attacks. It was actually my easiest wins so far.

I just punish any player using special style pretty hard. And when they revert back, I give them breathing space again. All about that conditioning. If you're having trouble, just stay away and wait for the potential whiff punishes to come for free. Special Style is so limited and crippled.

They’re all launch punishable
The problem for me is not what happens on block, but the ramifications it creates in some rounds where a fairly unpredictable player can make a whole game seem like a coin toss. The attack is instantly triggered by one button, it has armor and deals heavy long-winded damage. If your RA opponent is really low, you can hope that your fairly powerful albeit riskier attack will lead to instant KO upon Rage activation. I just dislike the weird dynamic RA creates. In most games it's not a problem though, almost like players themselves are informally ignoring the mechanic.

RA always catches me one time out of 3 or so. Its just that I forget to assess the fight when I am doing well. In reality you need to play D and poke when they get up in rage mode. Some players will just whip it out, which is an easy block punish. Others might wait for you to get in. Just close in, but don't press buttons. Punish and close out.

Better players won't use it unless they know it will connect, so after they see you pressing a button. Which I rather not do. When you are ahead they need to come for you and chances are you can punish a whiff.

While you are right in that some animations are very old, they make new animations for many old moves every game. Tekken 8 I think has the most new animations ever.

And then there are new characters with mostly new moves with new animations.

Tekken characters have many more animations than any other fighting game. Yet Tekken 8 manage to release with 30+ characters. This is only possible because of animation reuse. I’ll rather have that than half the rooster with all new animations. But to each their own.

Tekken is always about defense and punish your opponent, not about the combo. Every juggle move is always punishable. Except very few moves.

Most character has 1,4 or 1,1,2 or 1,2 to punish it ( jab string). All you need to do is block and throw some jabs. Special style only have few moves to play with so just punish everything and you can see why special style is useless.

You should check arcade quest to know more about punish system. I heard they did pretty good job to explain everything in tekken.

As someone who is not really into fighting games, (only played a bit of MK X here and there and before that probably killer instinct and street fighter on the snes lol.)

How is this as an entry into tekken?

It's the perfect entry point. It even has a mode (Arcade Quest) that teaches you how to play. Jump in!

This is my first Tekken and I’ve finished the campaign in one glorious sitting. I still have no idea what is going on, but boy, I’ve just witnessed maybe one of the best battle shonens in my life.

Also love how friendly the combat is, while being a Soul Calibur kid everything felt very natural.

They're overall buffed compared to T7 for whatever reason, and are now universally mids. They're also only -15 on block, so now not every character gets a free launch either. In early builds they were only -13.

Everyone has 15f launch move though? Maybe some are hard to execute like Kazuya.
Best way is just use throw move lol. It's enough to kill them most of the time.

That's always a drawback to online fighting games at launch. Everyone starts off at a beginner rank in game and some gifted players just slaughter others. I usually wait a couple of weeks before going into ranked matches against randos because I want the hardcore folks to move up the ranks and leave the average players behind. I haven't tried Tekken 8 matchmaking yet but hopefully it matches evenly as the rankings normalize.

Yah there's going to be killers putting in the game for the first time. Getting washed occasionally is good for you anyhow.

Yup. I love getting exposed for a bad habit I picked up prior. Beginners don't really punish you the same way. This is also why I think fighting games matchmaking should include players of different skills. 90% are going to be beginners anyways in a popular crossplay game.

The choice of fighting style for Jin is interesting. The version of Jin you pick in the game outstide of Story mode is actually the version of Jin you spend least time with in the story mode.
 
Nah it's the start of a new game, this is pretty much status quo for every fighting game, the veterans have start at the bottom too, don't take it too harshly.
When I first went online, the game offered me a placement match against the AI to calculate my starting rank. I did it and was rightfully placed as beginner. Do most people just skip this?
 
Finally took my King online Ranked, won 4, lost 2. Main strategy seems to be hope to catch me and send me airborne for the same juggle combo over and over. Well, that's very easy to counter lol. Tekken has always had a huge tool set, use it or lose it. It's great to know at least one big combo string but that will only take one so far. Will have more free time tomorrow to dedicate a few hours to Ranked, I have no ambitions of ascending to the Tekken throne, I'm just in it for the glorious combat and adrenaline rush.

Azucena's movement is absolutely sublime, she is without a doubt a direct parallel to when Eddy entered the scene with T3. If you were playing in the arcades back then you'll remember how mesmerizing it was to see Eddy in action, people chiming in mid-battle "yooooo! Did you see that shit!?". He became an instant favourite for many (myself included!) and it took people a real long time to learn how to deal with him effectively. Azucena is a joy to use and a joy to watch, incredibly dynamic and rhythmic just like our old Brazilian friend.
 
Many (most?) counter-hit launchers are safe though.
I'm talking about straight launchers like hop kick, df 2 etc etc : D. Not counting Ewgf, Bryan jet upper cut,.. and most of them is high.
Raven doesn't (unless changed in final release). Unsure on anyone else. I just mash out Lili's hopkick personally.

Oh yeah forgot about him. I think he has ff3 is 15f, but in reality no human can use it to punish lol. Only for whiff punish.
Well only option left for him is throw move.
Edit: zafina doesn't have 15f launcher as well lol

Exposed an obvious bitch ass smurf in the final rounds. Got so mad that he resorted to using RA in a juggle when a simple jab would've sufficed for KO. Well it did get me mad so kudos him.

Game really is all about not losing your cool and just constantly thinking why you're getting hit. Whenever I feel to pressured I go back to the safe jabs and pokes and that usually turn things around. The more experienced players will constantly be looking for unsafe moves they can safely punish, or whiff punishes by keeping a proper distance/sidestepping. And they will unleash their unsafe moves on beginners thinking they can get away with it. Usually if a low leads to big damage, it comes with some severe downside, such as being punishable. This is true for instance with Paul.

Do i have any options when i'm in the middle of being juggled in the air 5-6 times by someone other than doing a roll to the side when i hit the ground? At least MK has the combo breaker you can do once per round/match.....unless i'm missing something similar i can do in Tekken 8.

No. Roll or choose low/mid attack or stand right up or stay still. Tekken never has and I don't think it ever need a combo breaker mechanic.

You can roll forward or backward, roll left or right, some characters can kick themselves forward or you can roll forward and leap at them. Learn how to block, block low, parry, parry low, or reversal. You can also kick high or kick low from being downed. There’s a Punishment tutorial in Practice mode that teaches you what moves punish on block. I see a lot of super arts thrown on wake up or during a potential KO attack animation. Which honestly takes away a lot of life. I’d recommend playing each character’s combo trials and learning how they control. That gets you a better idea of matchups. lol I remember reading that in the Tekken 3 strategy guide years ago. I’ve been picking a random character and performing their combo trials.
