My fear as well. I have no interest in this if it's just going to be the same rinse and repeat formula they've been milking since TWD season 1.

TellTale lost The Walking Dead's main writers in 2013, who then went to create Campo Santo (and Firewatch is in development). They also lost Dave Grossman last year. I don't know, these were amazing writers for them. Season 2 of TWD wasn't as exciting for me and I'm kinda burned out of their formula. Don't get me wrong, I'll still get Game of Thrones, but only after the Season is finished.
