Acclaim Entertainment reborn as indie game publisher focused on original IP

This is such a weird revival considering that the connotation that most people have with Acclaim isn't a positive one. And because they're focused on an entirely different category of games this time.

Which is all fine, and I'm curious what they have in store. I'll be meeting with them at some point soon get the scoop.

Turns out TrickStyle wasn't he last Acclaim published game I bought, they did a lot on Dreamcast

Dark blue on black is a terrible choice for a logo 🤣

Well they made Turok 1 and 2 for N64. Always had some fondness to them for their support of the N64 when most publishers had bailed on Nintendo because of cartridges etc.

My favorite games from them are Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, South Park, Shadowman, Vexx, and Iron Man / X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal (I know that game is kinda trash, but I'm a big Valiant comics fan so it's cool to see X-O Manowar in something. For me the game is kind of a guilty pleasure).

Hopefully they can get another Turok game out.

But what I really hope to see is some good old-fashioned bad marketing like they used to do.

Not an inkling of what they have to show off.

Make Xtreme G racing now u fuckers...... wait.. it was them right ? or was it someone else ? lol
Acclaim once was the rights owner. The first two games have been developped by Probe Entertainment, later becoming Acclaim Studios London.

XG3 and XGRA have been done by Acclaim Studios Cheltenham (former Psygnosis Staff!).

By the time Acclaim had to file for bancruptcy, Throwback Ent. bought a lot of Acclaim IPs, Extreme-G among them, sadly.

There is an ok-ish port of XG1 for Switch Online (Emulation) and a miserable one of XG2 on Steam.. nothing more done with the IP. I could scream, since I still am addicted to to part 1 and 3 especially...

My hopes for "New Acclaim" are quite low level too.. Nightdive Studios have done a far better job to remaster "Old Acclaim" Legacy far better than Acclaim itself would have ever been able to. Well.. theoretically.

It's because the original Acclaim had a lot of staff from the remains of LJN.

Not many knew this because the internet wasn't a big thing back then, so LJN got away with what was essentially a rebrand.

Edit: Adding @coffinbirth 's quote and a link for further context:

Here's more:

Shittiest NES studios ever.

LJN Major League Baseball. The worst baseball game I've ever played. It you hit a grounder to the left, the fielders threw the ball so slow you couldnt get him out at first. Bases Loaded 100x better. Behold, this junk.

Always looked like a K to me. Then i figured the 2nd one was just another K to make it look cool. I was today years old when i realized it was CC. I think i might be dyslexic lol.
haha, same
If you make your Cs stylized in the shape of a half K and same height as the first capital A your logo becomes AKKlaim and not ACClaim, so a lazy K and not straigthened and bend C, kinda highlighting that it is not just regular english word acclaim. I certainly would not read small cs, ie Acclaim, and i guess the logo had more power over my reading than any Acclaim in any copyright texts. Maybe Mortal Kombat influenced it too and iirc the Donkey Kong Countrys had some wrong Ks in some level names too ... lol
