1 - Space Marine 2 (GOTY for me so far)
2 - FF7 Rebirth
3 - Helldivers 2
4 - Stellar Blade
5 - Witcher 3. Obligatory annual play-through (I play this game every year with mods and my god its so good every time. I fucking love this game. Probably shouldnt count since Ive played it 100 times but dont care)
6 - Dragons Dogma 2

Ive definitely played more than 10 games this year but those are the only ones that jump out as top tier for me.

Damn its hard to remember what I played this year vs last year. I wanted to add BG3, Rogue Trader, Alien Dark Descent, Robocop and FF16 on there. But those were all last year. Time all blends together when you get old lol.

Hmm, I'll try to keep it new games, or at least new to the platform I played it on.

Rise of the Ronin is #1. The rest would require too much thought to rank so I'll just list them.

Outcast: A New Beginning
Alone in the Dark
Legendary Tales (PSVR2)
Into the Radius (PSVR2)
Genotype (PSVR2)
Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore
Crow Country
FF7r: Rebirth
Soul Covenant (PSVR2)

Well I've only played 9 so far-
SOTN- 10/10
Ugly- 9/10 Fun Well Crafted Puzzle Platformer with interesting ideas
Bramble- 8/10 Very beautiful art/world although mechanically simple
Metroid Zero Mission- 10/10
Metroid Fusion- 9/10
Batbarian- 9.5/10 Surprisingly solid and meaty metroidvania with fun exploration and solid controls, played it with the lights on option because screw wandering around in the dark.
Aggelos- 8/10 Solid and fun metroidvania but lost some steam for me (a bit tedious) about the midway point.
Biogun- 9.5/10 This was a surprisingly well made metroidvania with great art, controls, combat, etc. Best with twin stick control set up.
Astrobot 9/10 Smooth if slightly easy/shallow gameplay enhanced by an incredibly beautiful world. I'd rank it somewhere just below Mario Galaxy 1 & 2

Yeah these are the games I should be playing on a 4090 rig with 64gigs of RAM, lol

This is based on how much fun I had with them, affected by many things other than how recommendable they are. Also weighted with how much time I spent on them. Also, I didn't play many games this year. The top four were all time sinks.

1. Tekken8
2. FF7 Rebirth
3. BG3
4. Stellar Blade
5. Rayforce/layer section/whatever
6. Quake 2
7. NMS (VR)
8. Cotton 2
9. Amok
0. Crusader

And the worst game of the year goes to destruction derby 2.

Can't really put them in order but some absolute stand outs were:

- Stellar Blade
- Helldivers 2
- Astro Bot
- SKALD: Against the Black Priory
- System Shock Remake
- Cyberpunk 2077
- No Man's Sky (played at release but haven't been back for several years)
- THE FINALS
- Last Epoch
- Nobody Wants to Die

I don't think i've even completed 10 games this year as they've all being long ass Jrpg's. All great though.

- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Best game of year)
- Like a Dragon infinite wealth
- Final Fantasy 6 pixel remaster (Best old school FF)
- Final Fantasy 5 pixel remaster
- Final Fantasy 4 pixel remaster

All on PlayStation Portal. Which has reignited my love of the Jrpg.

And I also replayed FF7 Remake and Yakuza LaD which are both excellent.

Think these are the only games I've completed this year. Not played anything really on switch and xbox.

Seems this topic pops up every month, here is my updated list, I always do a top 12, twelve months in a year after all:

1. Astrobot
2. Shadow of the Erdtree
3. FF VII Rebirth
4. Wukong
5. Unicorn Overlord
6. Helldivers 2
7. Darkest Dungeon 2
8. PoP: The Lost Crown
9. Space Marine 2
10. Rise of the Ronin
11. Kunitsu-Gami
12. Tekken 8

With Silent Hill 2 and Metaphor releasing next week I'm sure the list will be shaken up. Games like Stellar Blade, Infinite Wealth, Animal Well, Dragon's Dogma 2 and more didn't make the cut despite how much I enjoyed them, it's just a strong year if you actually love games.

In order from most to least (best guess):

Destiny 2
Rocket League
Hades
Eleven Table Tennis
Into the Breach
Vampire Survivors
Warframe
Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Siege
Elden Ring
Hades 2

Everything past Warframe is pretty light on time, like under 3 hours... but will put a lot of time into Hades 2 at some point since I finished all the achievements for the first game.

My top 10 in order:
Persona 3 Reload
Unicorn Overlord
Helldivers 2
UFO 50
WoW: The War Within (best expac since Legion)
Space Marine II
Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (love the Roguelike mode, played that for like a month straight, did not beat the game again have already beaten it 2x)
Balatro
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Star Wars Outlaws (will be better in a few months with patches, still pretty good, and all the character models in the game are ugly, Kay is actually the most attractive person in the game, which I agree is bad lol)

I haven't played Astrobot yet, or the new Zelda game or ErdTree or FF7 Rebith

I honestly don't understand why people throw in games from other years. Doesn't add anything to the discussion.
