Terrorist attack in London [up: 6 people killed, ~50 injured, 3 attackers dead]

Muhammad had only one son, and he died through illness as a baby.

Yep, hand down a religion to inspire people to murder your sons. What is he talking about, this is new to me (from the Imam).

Edit: I was referring to the notion that Islam killed his sons. Grandson, who lost a battle and was deemed a traitor.

I can't wait for "Imam" Tawhidi's story to unravel including a look at his bank accounts. The guy is fake af, you have to be really stupid to believe his con.

A guy who looks like that and conveniently parrots every right wing Muslim bashing talking point. Faker than wrestling.

i don't know about this guy. First time i heard about him. But from what i saw he's not that far removed from what Maajid Nawaz is saying.
Nothing wrong with muslims that try to reform Islam towards the better

Why? He is a Shia Muslim, makes sense for him to criticize essentially Sunni-branch of Muslims.

Although I don't really practice the religion I am still from a Muslim background, and one of the things I hate (and I imagine other Muslims in the west must hate as well) is that they are not included in the community that is grieving for the victims- no clearly they must apologize for this and come out against it or they are sympathizing with the terrorists!

Yep. Non ruling class = monolithic hive.

While they get to enjoy being individuals made up of all types of people. Happens all the time.

He goes way beyond that.

Nawaz is a Liberal Democrat, Tawhidi supports a white nationalist political party with a hate boner for Islam.

I would not take much if any stock in what he is saying, since it's clear at least to me he as an agenda. I'll try and find the article but he called halal meat a danger to the Australian way of life, I mean come on now. but I do agree with certain points he raises.

His calls for a review of Islam I agree with, but rather on what it has become in modern times. Mainstream Islam does not practice a culture based on the Islamic way of life, the strife of ME and the regressive social aspects make this clear. Muslims nowadays partice a religion that is laregly shaped by culture. The classical example is S.A. and its ban on women driving cars.

Him as an Imam should be taken with a large grain of salt, of course, yet I can see where he is coming from.

So incredibly sad. Nothing but love for the amazing British people and what they have had to suffer recently. My thoughts are with you.

I still don't get it.

Shia-Sunni politics. The division goes back a long long way. Think of Game of Thrones happening in the aftermath of Muhammed dying; Shia's say the new caliph [leader of the Muslims] should be from Muhammed's family - his son in law Ali; in fact they say Muhammed himself said this. Sunni's say Muhammed didn't appoint anybody, and they vote in Abu Bakr.

Long after this, you get another dynasty, and Yazid becomes leader, he asks for pledges of loyalty. Lots of little things happen in between, but essentially, Hussein, Muhammed's grandson, who said, that Yazid shouldn't be a caliph, dies in a battle led by Yazid's side.

Not really ordained by Islam and the Quran or by the prophet, because this happened several generations later but Shia's have often cited this as an example of Sunni violence in war. And Sunnis do the same thing to be fair. It's all politics.
