I live about 30 minutes away, pretty sure I’ve been down that road many times so it was pretty surreal to see it up in smoke like that. It hit the local news here pretty quick, minutes after it happen I think. As far as I know, there was no deaths except the latest discovery of human remains, but a few were injured.

"Terrorist" is way too early and way too evocative. This is a "mysterious explosion" not a goddamn terrorist attack.

They have no fucking idea who did this, why they did it, they do know that a fucking speaker was broadcasting "this is gonna blow in x minutes" and "if you can hear this, evacuate", hardly terrorist methods.

Edit: culprit identified!!!!!

This is Nashville and the guy's in an RV, it's obviously a good ol' boy trying to fuck with a country music record some rival is about to release.

Have you been to Nashville recently? Sounds like an assessment from 30 years ago. All lots of people there now, very diverse.

Are you referring to what i say about good ol boys and country music? It wasn't serious, anyway I'm pretty sure a recent tv series called Nashville persisted in identifying the city as a key location in country music to this day~

Besides... .... ... saying a good ol boy country music singer blew up his RV to sabotage another singer doesn't imply that everyone in Nashville is a good ol boy?

I live there. It just sounds like a typical person's stereotypical view of it. Of course it has country music etc but it's way more than that.

Yeah I live like 5 minutes away . I have like super short drive on Ellington and then I'm downtown. I was awake during the explosion and definitely heard and felt it. I'm going to see if I can drive by later to see if I can getting a better view.

Originally folks that morning were thinking a transformer blew up at the time and I saw a big cloud of smoke when I went out.

You don't get me lol, at no point did i say it wasn't more than that, i was just referencing a facet of the city's identity... You have no reason to get triggered by me, you're being touchy beyond all bounds of reason.. do i need to give a caveat that people live in las vegas any time i make a joke about their casinos?

I've basically said "there's a red fire hydrant in this building" and you've said "stop denigrating my building you fiend!", It's wacky!

You don't get me, in no way I'm a even remotely close to triggered. In fact, I'm not even a fan of it. I could just tell it was from someone not acquainted with the city, that's all. No need for a long defense, you're taking it way too far. Not saying you think the whole city is good ol' boys or anything.

It's all these fruitcake conspiracy theories that motivate lunatics like this guy to blow shit up in the first place. Then the same people spouting this garbage try to use the act as 'evidence' of some other idiotic nonsense.

Why do people love these loopy conspiracies? Russians hacked a bunch of agencies from across the ocean, yet someone wants us to believe that you need special offices in different parts of the country up tap comms. Is the NSA also using the pony express?

Yeah, "Russians". Totally not China.

There is no substantial evidence of this. Just another ploy to corral free speech because of pretend consequences.

Then why did you even bring it up lol, two posts telling me the city is more than country music and now you're saying "not saying you think the whole city is good old boys"... Seems like you're backing up a bit..

My take: knee jerk tunnel vision reaction to my post / resistance to clarification for some reason / bail, bail...

Anyway whatever~ happy new year

Are you from Tennessee, let alone middle TN?

If not, you have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm not backing up, I brought up for the reason I said, just sounded like someone who watched the show Nashville. Typical tourist view. I would never assume anyone is dumb enough to think the entire city is cowboys, but even just the thinking the majority or even alot is waaay off in the 2020s. Thats it. It's just very different. Anyway same to you.

All i know about TN after this thread is that if you mention it's hyper successful music industry you're going to get attacked lol.. maybe they need a pr dude to circulate and tell everyone it's okay to be known for something

Or it could just be a wacky nutjob who played a warning for tens of minutes before exploding a bomb from his RV in a random location?

Is that the RV on the left side of the street? The fireball seems to be concentrated on the right side at the end.

Look, I understand there's no cure for stupid, but you should at least take some preventive steps, like not going to Newsmax, OAN, or Twitter for your news.

If he was indeed paranoid of 5G signals, then that checks the nutjob box. Seeing as we have at least a few people who subscribe to batshit insane conspiracy theories, it's not farfetched to think that some like-minded nutter would try to blow up a network hub in the hopes of fighting an imagined threat. You know, it's rarely the grounded, logical types that commit acts of terrorism, right? The only non-nutter theory is that it was done by someone who intended on committing a burglary, and they wanted to knock a wide network of alarms offline, while also distracting a holiday shift of police. Matrix Reloaded redux. Sounds clever, but they'd have to know their target was using AT&T comms for their alarm system. Sounds like a movie plot full of holes, like didn't they anticipate that such a large-scale distraction would inevitably bring in the FBI, and a wide dragnet? Also, the long countdown should have triggered an escalation of security measures at whatever site they were trying to burgle, assuming the target was high-value enough. It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Assuming it's some NSA site is stupid. Any such operation would have been scuttled or moved long before a Wikipedia page appeared about it. The intelligence agencies are collectively a lot smarter than the neckbeards who fabricate these nonsensical conspiracies. As smart as I believe I am, if a layperson like myself can quickly deduce a simple solution for the NSA, then the people with all the fancy tools, whose job it is to conduct these kind of covert operations, would have figured out how to keep things secure a hell of a lot faster. Conspiracy theories are for idiots who want to feel smart.
