TGA stats: The Witcher 4 led in views and social media interactions, while Intergalactic ranked 10th despite heavy media coverage

You can thank Cuckmann and his hideous character design for this. Good for them and let it sink in that maybe, just maybe, gamers want normal or even pretty female leads. Not manly or feminist trash pushed in our faces so that someone doesn't actually get excited to see a pretty face in a game. This is what gaming has been reduced to because of these idiot western devs and their shite agendas.

Witcher is awesome not surprising.

Intergalactic bombing in engagement has to be worrying for ND and Sony. It's not too late to change course for them, they might be headed into Concord waters if they don't change :messenger_grimmacing_ .

If you think you need to disable comments for something you put on the internet then I don't know what to say.
Yes and that speaks volumes about them. They knew what they were doing just like when they designed that hideous character. Cowards afraid to engage or even see people's dismay with their ridiculous choice.

Even the thumbnail art of Intergalactic is meh. Just look at all of them in the pics and compare above.

From a distance it looks like a bald guy holding a red baseball bat.

In reality it's a female with a shaved head with a red laser sword leaning on her shoulder an inch away from her face.

And yet both are woke so.

Can we cool it with that shit until we start seeing the actual game? Ciri being the protagonist is hardly proof the game is gonna be woke (whatever the fuck that means anymore), considering her taking up the mantle was telegraphed all over TW3.

TW3, Heart of Stone, Blood and Wine, CP77 and Phantom Liberty (which was recently released) all had great story and characters. They also all had LGBT representation in them. Some of you guys are late to the party in thinking CDPR is now bringing The Gays and Women into CDPR games.

Let them crash and burn so maybe they wake the hell up and start designing better looking characters. They have gotten too big with their inflated egos.

Would like to be wrong, but I wouldn't count on Neil caving in and changing the design of the character. Especially with how intense the culture wars are now. So many people are emotionally compromised, they'd see it as "a win for the Chuds" rather than a positive creative and business driven change for the game.

As much as I love ND games, I'm just personally tired of the "space adventure cyberpunky" type of games.

Just presume those posters have never played the games, same with the ones not knowing Ciri was being set up as a potential lead.

Nobody else notice that everything apart from Witcher* and ND-thing (sorry, but is a fucking terrible, unmemorable title) everything else is already released games?

What does that say about a 3 and a half hour showcase filled with up and coming releases?

Also that Indiana Jones is no#2 should speak volumes about how relative the rankings are to actual buzz lol

Insufficient attention is not Intergalactic heretic profit's (fuck, its such a bad name) problem.

*big pre-existing franchise with a huge audience,

Wow! Virtua Fighter, Okami 2, Elden Ring Nightreign, Borderlands 4, Mafia: The Old Country, The Outer Worlds 2, Split Fiction, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Slay the Spire 2, Turok: Origins, Project Century, and Sonic Racing: Crossroads are already released??? Cool! Where can I play them?

The Witcher is behemoth ip at this point.

After TW3 and how they handled CP after release (and amazing PL) people have a lot of faith in CDPR. I hope they don't fuck this up for some woke points (Ciri is uglier already).

Now when it comes to Intergalactic... I can't say much more than I already said in other threads, haha.
Ciri's been living a hard life as a witcher, makes sense that she'd be uglier. Geralt was no looker himself

Ok, I think we are getting ahead of ourselves. The trailer was terrible which may be the reason. There just can't anything to really engage on.

On a better note, exodus looks great.

ND and Druckmann can do what they want. The game will sell millions of copies and whether it sells great or meh wont move the needle anywhere for Sony corporate. When a company makes something like $10B profit per year (whatever they make), selling an extra 5 million copies spread out over years is a rounding error.

BUT, looking at it in isolation. Game and tech companies past few years have been on a binge of cost cutting and efficiencies to get that ROI and margin up. So the gravy train already left.

For sake of maximizing sales with a more appealing character is important for sake of saving studio jobs. Millions of extra copies sold due to more mass appeal can work wonders for studio financials. Earlier this year Sony cut PS employees across studios. So they should know execs are in nickel and diming mode.

You'd think the views would at least be higher all things considered. 1st party Playstation game of which Sony hasn't had many over the past 2 years, people are starved for 1st party games. 1st new ND IP in forever on top of that..

It not even beating Indiana Jones, the "dead IP", in views is abysmal.

It's telling of the divide between gamers and modern journalists, when a game like Intergalactic is pushed so hard by journalists, just to be mostly ignored by gamers.
And the gamers that are talking about it, is to make fun of it , expecting a rethread of Concord's failure.

Maybe being last on the show plays into it.
Last, like the one last thing closing the event where all eyes are set to see how good or bad a show can end?

I'm gonna say it has more to do with a trailer ripping off bits of legendary iconography from Akira and Cowboy Bebop applied to the most generic girlboss character seen in a while, but that's just me

The framing of this is awfully odd. It is weird to say it ranked "Last".

What probably happened is the game show streamed and everyone interested in games who was free that day watched some of all of it. Each game is on an even playing field getting a viewer.

But after the show ended, the games with the most appeal spiderwebbed across the net and you'd get gamers themselves who really liked a game rewatching its trailer too.

Intergalactic was 9th or 10th place in posts and video views because people watching the show took one look at it and bailed. Not worth telling other people or posting about it. And going by YT most of comments are making fun of it anyway with huge dislike ratios. It ranked high enough to beat out the 15 or 20 other games, but not the 9 games in front of it.

It was 3rd place in articles because it's a new Sony IP so journalists amped up on ND games will write about it.

I also think given the amount of product placement shown in the trailer, a chunk of this game's budget is probably covered. Obviously don't know how much, but it'll certainly help. I think people shouldn't even entertain the idea that Intergalactic will flop and lose money. It won't, there's just no way. However creating a more visually appealing character will either do nothing, or it will further increase sales. It won't hurt it.

I'm curious how 2025 goes, because the way 2024 unfolded seemed to suggest that there is some measure of a rejection towards these kind of games, with visually unappealing characters. The landscape is always changing, and given the length of game development, it's harder these days to keep up. The economy is still shit, but people are still willing to spend their money on luxuries. However I don't think this necessarily means they'll spend that $70 as freely as they used to, they just might be more picky on what games they decide to buy than before.

So either 2024 will be this weird blip that meant nothing, and future games with heavy handed woke messaging and masculine unattractive female leads will do great, or the winds are changing and the western gaming industry will need to take note. People being more aware of patterns they don't like to see in games, coupled with them being more cautious with their spending due to the economy, might be enough to tip the scales on this one.

The amount of social media engagement, even if we are to assume 100% of it is positive, is rather sparse relative to the amount of media coverage it received. And when looking at the comments on the reveal trailers, for instance, the vast majority of them are straight out clowning on the game.

Intergalactic trying to become the next Concord huh

Why isn't Sony Japan stepping in at this point, the SIE America studios are an ongoing catastrophe and everyone surely knows it by now after Concord burned hundreds of millions of dollars for literally no result

This is a bit unfair comparison.
The Witcher IP is already a popular IP. Millions played Witcher 3, watched the tv show, read books, etc. They know what is Witcher 4.
Intergalactic? It's a largely unknown IP that didn't show anything useful just yet.

Don't worry this weeks stats will balance it out with all the defence articles and gamers were a mistake articles✌️

Witcher 3 popularity is what is making Witcher 4 hype train to move foward. No surprises. People expect the same level of competence and best writing Witcher 3 have because a little reminder that Witcher 3 did beat Bloodborne as a GOTY, so people are hype as fuck for good reason. Was a long time since the last Witcher game.

ND in the other hand doesn't have the luxury of relying in TLOUS anymore and after the mix reception of TLOUSpart2, consumers are aware of their next game vision.

I don't think a bald main character matters that much. We have seen only one short trailer with no gameplay.

Times they are a-changin'
And not a moment too soon. It's time for nature to finally heal and for us to regain at least some semblance of normalcy back. It's a shame the next Spider-Man game will still be woke as shit, I almost wish it'd just be canceled and that they reboot again, as I don't see how the franchise will improve on the agenda front with Insomniac's leadership at the helm.

Hopefully Sony and Microsoft both wake up and realize it's time to start clearing the woke element out of their studios. It's a cancer, and it's already caused the loss of so many promising projects and studios.

As for Intergalactic, it just doesn't look interesting. I know people have brought up the tone and music, but the setting just seems to lack interesting visuals and flair. Like you've got this trailer that's trying to give off vibes that it's a retro 80s sci-fi that's here to remind you of Akira or Cowboy Bebop, and then you've got a protagonist that looks like a fucking NPC, who comes off very obnoxious. That image that keeps going around with her sipping on a straw is doing the game no favors. Naughty Dog is supposed to be an absolute power house of a developer. So the amount of engagement this game has, coupled with the amount of dislikes, it's not off to a good start. First impressions are everything.
Not when the game will most likely get a 95+ Metacritic. Say what you want about Naughty Dog, but they are an S tier company when it comes to gameplay and graphics. Outside of Rockstar games, no other gaming company matches them on a technical level

We still have Wolverine to look forward to as well

It's so great to have Japan and the East make such a save to the medium

This is a bit alarming for Intergallactic. As much as I'm impress with the graphics of intergalactic, I hope there will be some changes on character design (Hopefully there will be no woke agenda especially twisted gender ideology to be push or force in the game) It will be such a waste with all that technical beauty if the game will just flop due to some agendas being push or force.
Is anyone even remotely impressed by visuals, nowadays? I feel like the ceiling has been reached. At least in terms of textures and character models.

Huh? We had many announcements of not released games. Am I misreading your question?

I've given up on Wolverine. I've always wanted a great big budget Logan game, but not like this, not pushing some insane agenda. It's tough, as I'm a turbo fan, but I've already decided not to support it unless it really comes out and surprises with a complete lack of woke shit in it, but I'm not holding my breath considering it looks like Jean Grey might be able to do more reps of 225 than I can with them shoulders....guess we'll see. Japan is definitely keeping the AAA side of the industry alive single handedly though.

Headline should read - "Game exclusive to one-platform has less interest from general population than 9 other games that will be on more than one platform"

Nothing shocking here.

Despite having seen zero gameplay the trailer to Intergalactic and the drama around it have already put me off the game. As someone said earlier, there was a time when the mere logo of ND was enough to get my juices flowing. They were the top dogs, so to speak. Now their games just elicit drama, controversy and deflated hype. The studios odd behavior with the virtue signaling and constant need to piss off gamers doesn't help either.

Jean Grey looks like Aunt May, and Logan is saved at least once by a female sidekick in the leaked trailer. Game's cooked. He's not going to be COMPLETELY useless, but by the end of the second game, X23 is going to be his successor in the third game.

Unless they change course, which is possible, because we're talking like, 8 years from now.

Didnt one of the original directors already bail out?

Edit: Yup

All the drama is because of a bald woman main character. Its really odd to that something that small can cause controversy. We have seen very little about the game.

Intergalactic is a bad name. When you search it, other shit comes up. It isn't unique and easy to forget. It doesn't even sound like to goes with the story very much unless the story is set in a world with multiple galaxies but this particular story is for some story related reason restricted to only one galaxy.

This COULD be true, if like, spaceship breaks down or some shit, but otherwise it is just a generic name that isn't super memorable. The Last of Us, now that's a name.

Don't believe?

That shitty name is why they had to do a subtitle on a brand new IP. For all the money spent on graphics, spend 10 minutes on the title Neil.

Oof. I hope Naughty Dog manage to do something to recover from this. They need to showcase some really astonishing footage and gameplay material to get people inspired.

Either way, I get the feeling he got what he wanted; to rile people up. Congrats, Neil. Mission accomplished. The ball is in your park.

I can see witcher beating it. Even beating the hell out of it. Elden, sure. Fortnite, sure. But losing to most of those is a bad look. Not sure what it really means as I don't follow this kind of thing that closely.
