The 2nd-tier shelf of fall 3DS software - What's the Verdict ?

We all know Mario and Mario Kart are/will-be great. Nothing can compete. Starfox 64 3D we all know what to expect.

Cave Story 3D
Looks good. I have wanted to dive into Cave Story sooner or later, but is 40 worth a 3D remastered version or should this be a pass in lue of the 10 dollar original on dsiware? Any impressions?

Sonic Generations
Anyone played it on 3DS? Apparently it is built from the ground up. I wonder how the 3D looks going super sonic fast....

Ace Combat Assault
According to IGN it comes out....today? Any word? Graphics looked nice.

Shinobi
We all know it looks like crap and got delayed to Mario season....but I saw a few 8/10 reviews squeek by. Is this the hardcore ninja experience on a handheld? Looks like there is horse riding. Ninja Gaiden DS was very neat.

Face Racers: Photo Finish
Didn't even know this existed until making this post. Might be funny to take a picture of my junk and race it around
in offline racing with 18+ adults of course

Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic
I never played any of the Cooking Mamas, but they keep making them. Does anyone care?

Nano Assault
I saw a trailer, this looks intensely awesome. I havn't read any reviews or read anything. Comes out next week. I liked the first one a lot.

So where do I spend my hard-earned dollars? I just got a 100 gift card to EBgames. I would like a substitute for Mario when on travels.

It's not too bad of a list now that I think of it. Multiplayer titles are key too, I have 4 friends with 3DS and RE:Mercs is running it's course.

So 3DS-gaf, what title are you planning to pick up this fall other than Mario/Kart?

Tales of the Abyss (PAL) and maybe Sonic Generations (depends on reviews though it looks great).
And on eShop Mighty Switch Force + Pullblox.

Nano Assault is the most likely non Mario pick up for me, love shmups. Might go for Sonic or Shinobi depending on scores and impressions here.

Most likely I'm only going to bother with Shinobi, because I like Griptonite. I actually had no idea it was out, though, so I'll get right on that.

I'm getting PES 2012 in 2 weeks, which adds touchscreen controls and an online mode, I'll report how it plays.

I'm planning on getting Shinobi and Sonic at least. Probably for Christmas. I'm just going to be too busy with Mario, Zelda, and Mario Kart for like, the rest of the year and then some maybe.

I don't think Shinobi is anything like Ninja Gaiden DS btw. I think it's more like a regular 2D action platformer. It's been getting 8s and 7s, which is about what I expected, so it seems to be alright.

I'm expecting Sonic to be the best version of Sonic Generations.

Based on the reviews, Cave Story 3D seems to be really only desirable for the 3D effect that benefits the background environments. As you know, the game can be found for a much cheaper price elsewhere. In addition, I think the 3DS version doesn't actually contain all of the content of the other versions.

Shinobi seems to be a solid title with very challenging gameplay but largely unimpressive graphics and sound.

Cave Story looks awesome in my opinion and is the definitive version as far as I'm concerned. That said I wouldn't have bought it if I had ever paid for a version of Cave Story before. Might be worth it if you really love CS, but yeah, it being the first time I paid for the game played a big part in my decision to get it.

I'm pretty interested in Ace Combat, and Nano Assault does look really cool. I'm interested in Shinobi too. I'll probably wait for an Amazon B2G1 sale or for their individual prices to drop though. Nano Assault I may buy full price, but the other two are going to be dependent on review scores and neither seems like something I need $40 bad.

I don't know where you heard that, but CS3D actually has exclusive new areas. Granted, they're probably only as big as any single other area if you add them all together, but the game definitely isn't missing any content besides the extra stuff that's apparently in the Mac version.

And the backgrounds aren't just better because of the 3D, they're all totally new, very detailed, and really add to the game in my opinion. For example Mimiga Village now has trees and rivers in it's background. Makes the game more moody, I'll always love the look of the original sprites (and it's total bullshit they didn't include a widescreen version of the original in 3D), but the backgrounds are really boring to look at after playing 3D.

Got Nano Assault pre-ordered. Might pick up Shinobi when it's $20 or less. The rest of the titles in the OP look like they're not worth bothering with.

The one game any 3DS owner should have in 2011.

i would have picked up nano assault if the other 300 or so games rounding out the end of this year didn't exist. but you know, they do so uh, yeah.

I've gotten and am getting the Nintendo titles for sure. Mario is incredible. MK7 I plan on getting as well.

As for the others, i'm going to shop around on Black Friday and try to see if I can take advantage of TRU B1G1 for any combination of Cave Story 3D, Starfox 3D, or Sonic Generations.

I am getting Sonic Generations for sure. Also want Doctor Lautrec...finally coming out in December unless it gets another delay -_-;

Kinda interested in Ace Combat, Shinobi, Cave Story, and Nano Assault. (I think I'll wait for the bargain bin for most of these, $40 each is expensive...)

I'm already up to 17 3DS games with Super Mario 3D Land being the latest.

sonic gen i might get as well as shinobi though kinda gonna wait until they drop in price, also wish Nano Assualt had a EU release, want some Shooter action. Galaga DX is nice but another one would rule (taling about 3ds retail ones)

17?! I have 4 with SM3D. Damn bro.

And of those, Sonic and Cave Story will be on my list for sure, just need to wait until they hit $30 or come with a BOGO 50% or something. I never actually played Cave Story, despite the psycho hype, so this would be a good reason to.

Mario has been great...and absolutely nothing else listed interests me.

Shinobi and Sonic maybe, but not at MSRP.

Cave Story if you have never played it before, I'll probably pick that one up.

The rest, not so much. Shinobi seriously looks bad...

Generations 3DS isn't out yet, but I'm going with Sonic (next week) and maybe Cave Story (but I've played it before, so... I dunno yet). Asking for Mario for Christmas.

Hopefully Generations 3DS will be as good as Colours DS.

3 of them are import games lol: http://backloggery.com/games.php?user=MidnightScott&console=3DS

I'm kind of interested in this import game for 3DS called Penguin Trouble: The Wars http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=S64JjpF-sPo (Mawaru Penguindrum needs a game...)

Shinobi sounded really good from the reviews I read, so I'm a bit excited for it. Reading reviews with principal complaints "it's too hard" and "bad graphics" really doesn't bother me. Not that I'm good or blind, but I like challenge and bad visuals are easy to get over.

Nano Assault, in contrast, happens to looks gorgeous. Looks fun too, and I don't think Shinen will disappoint.

Cave Story seems to get a lot of praise, and I'm one of those weird folks who doesn't think a game is worth buying unless it's a physical copy. I've never played it, so that one's a definite purchase for me.

The others haven't really captured my interest though.

sonic in 3d sounds like a seizure waiting to happen...

If you want to play cave story... do what you always should do. Play the damn original. Which coincidentally is free!

Ace combat looks quite a bit like the psp ones visually. I liked the first, but the second was... meh. Is this one in real world, or awesome fake world?

Fake Ace Combat World.
Edit: Just noticed you said close visually. They're not. Watch the video on the eShop. Looks better than the PS2 Ace Combats.

Dr. Lautrec
Nano Assault
Ace Combat
Cave Story (when it's $20)
Maybe Shinobi?

I am interested in Ace Combat, Hollywood Crimes, and Nano Assault. Just concerned about their actual lengths though. Ace Combat from what I recall hearing is short and pretty much turns into a score attack game. Sounds similar to how Star Fox 64 3D is setup. So I might take a pass in the end if that is the case. To much money is being spent now so they'll have to wait, if they still get bought, until after the holidays.

Neither. Stick with the PC version. If you really want it on your DS then go for the 10 dollar original on DSiware.

I'm actually going to pick up that James Noir game tomorrow. I've got some Best Buy certificates to put toward it so it'll make the price much more comfortable to pay. From the reviews I've read (two, one on Amazon and one from some other site) it seems like a decent point-and-click adventure/puzzle game.

I purchased Cave Story 3D and am really enjoying it. It is the first time I've played it. Graphics are good and gameplay is awesome.

Or if you think it's worth $40, buy the version made with very well done 3D backgrounds.

Initially releasing the game for free was a mixed blessing. Im sure the game wouldn't be anywhere near as widely known if it hadn't, but a lot of people feel that it's not worth paying for the redone versions since you can get it for free.

I will be picking up Nano Assault but only after a discount or deal. I think the game looks great but I can wait for it as I will be busy with Mario and MK7.
