Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon |OT| Dark Scrolls

There is an update out on PS5 at least. Version 1.10.
EDIT: Okay so after playing more the screen tearing seems the mostly the same (it might be a tiny bit better). Just no matter what other setting I adjust I cannot changed resolution now. Granted I'm not sure it's actually 1080 because it doesn't seem as blurry as typical 1080.
The sun flash glitch is NOT fixed. Just only happens at specific sun phases/times of day.

I like being a Summoner in this game. Makes bosses more manageable. Some of the dungeons are huge. Some have underwater sections too. Really enjoying this. Can live that Necromancer fantasy of watching HP Bars melt then going for the finishing blow.

Top paid on Steam right now. Saw that, then came here to check this thread and now I'm buying it.

Thanks fuckers

UPDATE: 45 mins in and I'm still exploring the opening dungeon, which is surprisingly well crafted with all kinds of neat stuff to find.

I also really like that it lets you organically discover its systems instead of tutorializing you with text every 5 minutes

Exploring that starting dungeon felt really, really good. The layout is great, the way hallways and hidden passages loop around back to familiar places; really well done.

I've only played for 2 hours and I fell in love with that H.R. Giger & FromSoft inspired designs. The story is progressing strong and interesting, I'm really excited for the next stages.

Game is amazing. The vibes, the rewarding exploration, the sick lore, the awesome visuals, cool music, and the quite difficult combat so you really gotta pay attention.

I just hope they can fix the performance because man it just keeps chugging no matter what I do. Not a fluid experience at all.

I'm on the fence. What's the specs for a ps5 pro going into this?

I need bare minimum :
-50-60 fps or a solid 40fps mode with vrr
-At least 1080p upscaled to 4k
-No screen tearing

Am I good to go? Or hold off?

Hadn't checked my spells recently and realized I had found not one, but two summoning spells at some point.

Summons are fun to use and have awesome skills tied to them.

Hold off for now.

After 2 hours this is kind of nice

But it does really not feel like Skyrim - It feels way more like an Obsidian game. Not relly a simulation as far as I can tell and not really full open world either? Perhaps more structure like Awoved?

It also seems to focus on other stuff - with bosses and stuff. Again, like awoved?

The world opens up after you escape the dungeon.

Exploration feels so rewarding in this. I've been to the first town and wandering around the first big open area and it's awesome. So many little bits and pieces everywhere, finding cool weapons and armours with perks and what not most that I can't use though.

Weird that they locked the resolution to 1080P even on the Pro with the update. Doesn't seem to run any better than when I had it on 1440P. V Sync still not working properly, the flashing sky while looking at the sun still happens a bit, etc. Hope they are working on a big performance update as the game will be 10/10 if they can clear up these issues.

You playing on console or PC?

Because PC version is running strong for me (5800X3D / 7900XT):
2160p
STP upscaler @ 50%
All settings High

Never dips below 100fps

It's too bad that enemies only fight you and not each other in the open world, one of the few things where bethesda games are superior.

Btw don't leave the first dungeon without finding the respec potion, it's easy to miss.

The fire shotgun magic is great if you like seeing fus roh dah type of ragdolling :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

P.s. are the voices of the npcs super low for everyone or it's just me?

Lower the music and the VX effects. Voices are fine, the problem is those settings I mentioned are too loud by default

I have played now for a few hours and I have some thoughts

The environments are beautiful, even tho there are occasionally some low-res textures, the art style is really good and the atmosphere is top notch

The music is great and it fits very well within the game, the main menu in particular is a banger

Writing and voice acting is definitely good, I am most of the time, interested in what npcs have to say and some of the sidequests have an interesting background story that is worth doing. You can make decisions as well that will decide the fate of certain characters which is a plus in these types of games and the rewards for some is worth it

Performance is good, I have no complaints but I have a powerful computer so take my opinion here with a grain of salt

Dungeons so far are big and deep, they remind me somehow to Skyrim which is a good thing in my book.

Now, things that I do not like so much, the combat. The sound feedback when slashing or attacking enemies is very weak, you get no vibration in the controller, and the sound in general is just not there. It needs more work.

The combat itself is serviceable but I think it would improve a lot of they work more in the sound and controller vibration to create a more immersive feeling

Horse controls are terrible, I cant believe I am saying this but Oblivion remaster is polished compared to this. The way the horse moves, controls and sounds is ridiculous, it doesnt even have footsteps sounds when you are riding. They need to fix asap

I dont have anything else to say at the moment, I think this game is really good but it needs more work and polishing in some aspects. I believe the developers should keep working on it and improve because this could become almost a masterpiece

The game is surprisingly good.
Great atmosphere, fantastic music, good writing and voice acting. I like the story so far though it definitely helps that I'm a fan of the arthurian setting.
Combat is decent. My biggest negative so far is the skilltree. It seems like 90% of the stuff are just simple percentage buffs. I hate when devs go the lazy and boring route.

My only complaint so far, is the menu startup soundtrack.

😳 like what were they thinking, they hired a grandpa to sing and they mixed the voice to sound 2x louder than anything else.

Edit: The song gets better though, once he quits singing.

Level progression is super slow so when you finally get a skill point and the available options are things like "+1% damage" that feels kinda bad. Wouldn't call it lazy, it just feels unrewarding.

I'm a warrior build but haven't found a skill that made me go "wow that one is sick".

I tried escaping the prison at the very start and kept dying lol.

Either the parry wasn't working for me or I just suck at this game lol. Will try again later.

That shit scared me the 1st time i turned it on. I really enjoy making fun of the grandpa voice in loud tones when I start

Based on the developer's post on Reddit, they disabled the higher resolutions for now so they can fix some texture bugs.

I have this annoying bug where i can't see the objects\weapon description on my stash, if i use the mouse it's ok but if i use the controller i can't see shit...

Saw the thread and thought the game looked cool. Went to Steam and saw it has a demo. Turns out I've played it for 8 minutes! Is the game pretty well updated since this demo build?

Remember the cheese way to lvl up.

Run. Tap crouch while running. Rinse. Repeat.

Levels athletics, evasion, and sneak (if around other beings). All at the same time.

I really appreciate the way they handled the loadouts in this game. It's like every idea I can come up with is possible! Slinging balls of fire with my left hand while stabbing a dude with a dagger in my right feels good.

mature branching story
rewarding exploration
great sense of progression
great graphics ( for an AA game , no point in comparing it to AAA )

Overall its an amazing game
