Are you the person that said this before in another thread? How can a biography endorsed as true and worked on in cooperation with the person its about be over the top and cliched, if that is what really happened?

I've never commented on the movie Ray before on this or any other forum so it was definitely someone else. Since that's the case I'm obviously not the only person who shared that opinion. Also, it's not so much what was shown but rather how it was presented/acted that made it feel cliched to me.

Interesting show. They seemed to want to make the Oscars "hip" this year with the likes of Chris Rock and Beyonce playing such major roles. Rock was really good though. Hrm...

Glad to see Kaufman win for writing Eternal Sunshine. I'm glad the movie won SOMETHING. Still think that Carrey should have been in the best actor category.

Morgan Freeman was stylin' and classy.

Halle Berry was too self-aware of her own beauty.

Carlos Santana played the same guitar scale he's been playing for over 30 years now.

Swank's speech was a bit long, but funny/charming.

Oprah looked smashed the entire show. (check out those bags under her eyes)

Dustin Hoffman definitely got into the scotch, as did Pacino and maybe even Penn.

Foxx's speech was personal and nice. Seems like a really nice guy.

Eastwood was getting verbal blowjobs all night. "The genius that is...the brilliant...the incredible...the amazing..."

Vin Diesel's horrible hair piece in that "in production" movie. WTF?

Presenting awards in the seats = WTF?

In all seriousness, I'm going to rent Ray. Almost everyone I talked to who has seen it says Fox deserved the Oscar for his performance.

I'm just surprised he got the Oscar so quickly since he's only done a couple of dramatic roles. Usually the Academy makes you wait if you have little experience with dramatic roles even if you deserve the Oscar that year.

If someone told me while I was watching Booty Call that Jamie Fox was going to win the oscar, I would have told them to lay off the crack. It's one of those Austin Power moments. "What? People aren't still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same time experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence-free environment?"
