The Adventure of Elliot: The Millennium Tales….coming in 2026

Count Me In Rick And Morty GIF
It feels like JRPG mix in with Zelda.

This game has challenge shrines but not all them about is combat, some of them traversal challenges.

Also this game hard difficulty from get go.

I think I'm in love.

This is much more interesting than the Octopath game, finally a Japanese action RPG.

We need more games in the vein of Terranigma, Ys, Secret of Mana, Alcahest and so on.

I hope this one turns out well.

Play the demo if you have time….the game is really good in my opinion.

Is the demo switch only? I can't find it on PSN nor steam
Seems to be the case. Bummer since I really wanted to try it.

I'll trust out fellow nintenbros, if they say it's a cool game resembling the Mana or even old Zelda games then we are in for a treat fort sure.

Finished the demo and did most of the optional stuff. I'm not sure I'm digging it so much. I think reducing the enemy respawn timer would be helpful, but with no experience system tied to defeating enemies, it all starts to feel laborious rather quickly. The challenge temples serve as mechanical training early on and are a bit too generous with handing out additional heart containers. Worst of all, you can't pet any of the many cats in the starting town. Is 2025 for Pete's sake. The main boss was fine, the optional one was rather lackluster. I was probably expecting more of an RPG which is on me.

Played through the demo, it's ok. Menuing is very obnoxious, especially to change between warp and sprint. Hitboxes on enemy attacks are bigger than they look like they should be in some cases. No attack while jumping is an odd decision. I like this kind of game, so I'm sure I'll play it, but it feels somewhat amateurish. Also Elliot is a dumb name (but King Hichard is great).

I had the exact same thought, that this needs an experience system. I'd be okay with a Secret of Mana-style system where you level up a particular weapon type to make it stronger, let you equip more magicite, something. Surely they have to be cooking something like that up (since they did specifically say that this demo would focus on exploration and combat), right?

Well, you can take your earned magicite (or whatever it is called) and craft 100 of them into a ruin (or whatever it is called) to put into your gem box (or whatever it is called). Honestly, by the time I reached the second and more elaborate optional dungeon in the desert area, I just ran past every enemy except for in the rooms that forced you to fight. There are a lot of good things about the demo, but I can't say anything blew me away which makes my qualms stick out a bit more.

Game is enjoyable but also kind of generic. I think Zelda + Ys Origins fits the bill. It has Top Down Zelda vibe and Dungeon crawling mostly and Magicite serves as a sort of passive trait system using an AP or JP system.

Sword and Bow have charge attacks and different levels of charge dictate how strong or far the attacks go. Swords have Sword beams and Arrows become spreadshots.

I think you just find Swords and they auto upgrade so equipment/gear kind of lame here but servicable.

Bosses do have some lite modern MMO mechanics or a puzzle much like a Zelda game.

I believe the main city serves as a hub and you just tackle dungeons out in the world.

The world is pretty but the story is pretty generic judging by the demo but maybe they don't want to give away anything. Don't really care much about Humans vs Beast Tribes setting.

Got a feeling this won't stay on S2 and it's IMO a $30 kind of game.

Both are terrible for sure. Infinite Undiscovery was funnily enough not really from Square Enix, though they would have surely chosen an equally bad name.
If this were 10 years ago it would have been called:

Millennium Philabieldia

(or whatever the hell Philadelphia-spelled world it was called).

Interesting to see them tackling an ARPG with the HD2D style.

Wish the demo goes live on other platforms too, sucks that it's NS2 only.

I like how NPCs get a little red check mark after you talk to them. Just tiny little touches like that are always nice in Asano games.

Not done with the demo yet but already sold on it. It really is Zelda meets Mana. Gameplay is simple but fun. I like how you control the fairies with the right stick. Its nice seeing in caves how the fairies moves around lighting and shadow in real time with her aura.

Only real complaint is the farie voice is awful. Story seems super basic so far as well and no signs it might get better yet.

P.S. the fairie dash is incredible. Super fun. There's also a perfect shield block. This is great.

The more you play the better it gets. The first dungeon is really fun. I love the weird ass looking swamp water. This game is going to be incredible.

The only question left is if it has a real story or more of a light hearted fairy tale vibe, which is fine

[Edit] and demo finished. The boss was great. More challenging than I expected. I might try this on hard next time. The combat is fantastic.

Game is excellent, great demo. Recommend playing on Hard though, on Normal it's way too pedestrian, like every enemy does 1 heart damage and every other drop is multiple hearts to heal you anyways. I played a bit in Hard and it felt better but not really hard - I'm definitely not a "Dark souls git gud" gamer, I like my games in the easier side, so that should tell you something
