The Adventure of Elliot: The Millennium Tales….coming in 2026

Finished the demo and did most of the optional stuff. I'm not sure I'm digging it so much. I think reducing the enemy respawn timer would be helpful, but with no experience system tied to defeating enemies, it all starts to feel laborious rather quickly. The challenge temples serve as mechanical training early on and are a bit too generous with handing out additional heart containers. Worst of all, you can't pet any of the many cats in the starting town. Is 2025 for Pete's sake. The main boss was fine, the optional one was rather lackluster. I was probably expecting more of an RPG which is on me.

I cringe every time a game lets me pet a random animal on the street.

Gonna check out the demo sometime. Always loved the artstyle of the octopath series but I dislike jrpgs and I hate turn based combat.

Playing right now, it feels closer to the classic Zelda games so far. So if you like Zelda games, you'd probably like this? idk.

this was the biggest surprise for me. It's just like an old school square action rpg on the snes .. it's like a real secret of mana sequel. Absolutely Loving the demo.

Beat the demo. Overall, pretty fun game. Only real issue I have is the platforming is a bit clunky. Also pretty sure the boss glitched out on me. He got stuck in an animation while I just wailed on him with my sword.

The more you play the better it gets. The first dungeon is really fun. I love the weird ass looking swamp water. This game is going to be incredible.

The only question left is if it has a real story or more of a light hearted fairy tale vibe, which is fine

[Edit] and demo finished. The boss was great. More challenging than I expected. I might try this on hard next time. The combat is fantastic.

Is the demo out on other platforms besides NS2?

I've really enjoyed it so far, like this is the type of games why I started liking gaming and it feels like it has been ages since I got something so good with the same feeling.

The only caveat is the having to press B twice to get out of the map, really it should be one single press and I always forget about the second one and get fooled by my muscle memory.

This is quite fun so far. It's been a while since I've played a top-down adventure game, and Elliot learned a lot of good lessons from Zelda. It's a tad derivative but I like a lot of what this game is doing already. So far I'm hoping for more puzzle elements though. The music is beautiful and the visuals are growing on me. Some of the UI navigation is clunky though.

Am I the only one that really likes the fairy? Also hot take central here but I don't want to see leveling-up. It inherently makes this genre overly-grindy and I think there're enough non-grindy ways to get stronger already, like getting and managing magicite boosts (this system reminds me of FF9's abilities or Paper Mario's badges).

Played through the demo, yeah...
It feels a bit deritive and they definately did not put enough effort into the menus and UI to make it feel like a professional game.
Also the way the character stops each time you attack feels annoying.
The graphics are also Switch 1 level or worse. Definitely not up to par with newer HD2D games. Sprites look too faded.
I also feel like the game needs a leveling or additional progression system from what I played.

The music is great (if the game sucks, it will be a shame) and the magicite system is cool, but overall it feels pretty low-effort.
I would probably buy this if it's cheap enough though for the music alone.

I also like the fairy but mostly because I played a lot of Vanillaware games.

I also agree with you, this game doesn't need level up system.

This is giving me nostalgic vibes of SNES Secret of Mana and Zelda. Plus the main character appears to be some sort of a ranger. I'm in!

Yeah, I got some Secret of Mana vibes as well during the demo. It's of course far less whimsical, but the feel reminded me a bit of Secret of Mana, at least.

I wonder now how a HD-2D Mana game could look and play like.
