Yikes. Looks like i really was destined to skip the latest Spider-Man movie either way. The Amazing series had such a great start and so much potential and Sony just pissed it all away.

We could have gotten SM4 and SM5 instead of the crappy ASM movies, a missed opportunity to say the least.

so instead of two shitty as fuck spider man movies we could have gotten two different yet still shitty as fuck spider man movies

what a missed opportunity

Webb's been good for nothing since 500 Days of Summer. made two awful spiderman movies then some mediocre genius kid movie with Chris Evans, and now apparently his new movie is spme wack take on The Graduate.

He helped get Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on air. Between that and 500 Days of Summer, he's contributed enough for me to forgive him for Spider-Man.

Have you ever read a comic book? That's all they do.

Comics are trash, but I love the characters and lore. 🤔

They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the mercenary. The masked man.
The phrase "Aside from Chris' head" is just cracking me up.

But I wanted...Chris Cooper was going to come back and play the Goblin. We were going to freeze his head, and then he was going to be brought back to life. And then there was that character called The Gentleman.

I absolutely love that they hired hack fan fiction writers to come up with this billion dollar film franchise

Yeah I wasn't feeling the Sony pictures hate but they hire completely incompetent people damn.

No wonder they just agreed to let Marvel write it.

Then again, those Marvel writers created a massive plot hole with their "8 years later" and then "Eight years, not a word from the feds..." that Sony is aware of but would be too costly to fix.

My gosh this is awful. But not surprising from the studio that cancelled a wonderfully animated movie about a spinach eating sailor and replaced it with a pile of petrified ass peelings that was labelled:

A massive plothole that is completely inconsequential to anything happening in these movies.

Lets be honest, their Popeye would have sucked shit, it's probably for the best.

*Edit: Just looked it up (didn't even know it ever existed) and I see that Genndy Tartakovsky was attached to direct...shiiiit nevermind, that could have been great.

These guys planned out heads in jars, magic healing blood, death-faking parents and a very important sub-plot about Aunt May getting a job at the hospital and went "this is fucking genius!"

Sooo, who was the Gentleman supposed to be?

His name is Gustav Fiers, the Gentleman. He's essentially head of a shadowy criminal empire and the brother of the guy that killed Peter's folks- sort of like Kingpin but low key.

How he disappeared from a locked cell is conveniently never explained because MYSTERY. Fiers had no known powers in the comics.

Edit: semi beaten

Aren't there still talks of doing the Sinister Six movie? There's also Venom and the Black Cat/Silver Sable movie which may or may not tie into some of the old Spidey films. Or they may not, which is pretty strange if we get a stand alone Venom movie with no Peter or any other Spidey characters. Feel like they may try to pull a Deadpool in that it tied into the X universe but pretty lightly, except with a Spidey support character like JJJ or Balck Cat but much worse.

That's a standard comic book plot point. I don't think the "omg so hilariously bad, lol sony" reactions itt are justified.
They're reacting like that because it hasn't happened yet in MCU. But when Cap is revived in Avengers 6 or whatever, they'll revere it as groundbreaking and brave.

Chris Cooper would have been a cool Goblin. I really liked Garfield as Spidey/Peter. Him and Emma Stone had great chemistry and I would have liked to have seen the third film. Most of the time I'd rather watch the ASM films than the Raimi ones.

Coming back from death, sure. Coming back from a frozen head?! That'd be a first in one of these movies.

Just because some fans have convinced themself heroes will die in one movie and be ressurected in another or that Cap's arc will revolve around him picking up the main weapon of another hero doesn't mean that's what's going to happen.
People were also convinced Cap would die in CW to be ressurected in Avengers. A lot of fan theories tend to be bad.

It would've been fantastic with Tartakovsky handling it.

What the FUCK....is tha-wait nevermind. I remember now...that hazardous spiderman play where everyone got hurt.

How did you forget about the iconic Sinister Six where Kraven has a living lion face on his chest and the Lizard is a dude with a dinosaur coming out of his abdomen.

And the rejected Reboot villain iconic SWISS MISS

Seriously though what the fuck is going on in Sony Pictures.

I haven't watched any comic book movie since The Avengers which I caught on TV, but I'd probably would have watched this just to laugh at it.

How is Sony Pictures surviving

Sony Corp. is desperate to become a major player in the film industry; has been ever since they bought Columbia and TriStar, and they're adamant about not letting that go. They have minor successes here and there, but are just completely clueless on how to start and maintain a good tentpole or franchise.

And here's something truly twist the knife on how close we almost gotten a good Popeye movie....footage.

Reminder that according to the leaked emails Emma Stone was going to play Mary Jane.... after playing Gwen in the previous two movies.

Sony Pictures lmfao
