Is it possible to lego yourself out? Pretty soon you'll have to dip into discontinued items. I wanna find out. I only have done one small one. :(

and now it has a proper home.

I went to a toy store today and looked at their Lego stuff. :3
The selection didn't seem very great, but I have no idea what Lego sets even exist these days, so maybe they actually had all the important stuff. There was a bunch of Harry Potter, Ninja-something and Star Wars Lego. The three biggest sets were indeed the Star Destroyer, Death Star and Imperial Shuttle. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't find anything grander, but it's not like I would've bought it anyway.
So yeah, I'm intrigued but I can't bring myself to spend all this money. I'm actually a little shocked at how expensive Lego is. :I

Watching them build this shit is really, really boring.

Having the video on in a background as a podcast and experiencing it that way is not. As far as I'm concerned this is just an audio thing for me :D

Yeah I just multitask while having the video on in the background. I go back to the video to see how far they have progressed but I normally just listen to them talking.

I watch the vids in small bit-sized pieces to wind down after more serious stuff. There's something zen about watching people assemble lego.

Also, maybe I was just in the mood, but the latest episode made me laugh out loud no less than a half dozen times.

I wish they'd just get the minifigs (and mini star destroyer) and just weigh that up separately and add it to the google doc, so they can just weigh the main model each time

Technic. Are we just putting an unnecessary S on everything now? :)

oh shit. I've always called them technics. And there was me quietly sniggering at the 'legos' folk. that'll teach me.

Since Will and Norm have been complaining about never getting to finish each day and feeling frustrated I decided to start calling what they are doing "Tantric LEGO" and they don't like that at all. So feel free to use it all you like.

Has Will seen the minifigs in the new X-wing yet?

Ffuuuu just saw some photos of the UCS Falcon and I want it so bad. Why didn't I buy it when it was available?

I'd have loved a UCS falcon and UCS Star Destroyer build-off. Doubt I'd ever be able to afford either.

Might consider a bricklink solution though - buy the parts you need rather than pay over the odds for a boxed one.

Gary...how big is that Fallingwater?? Looks small and I heard expensive.
It's not that big. Here, I added a minifig for scale.

It's really fun to build though, the engineering in places is really quite brilliant. It's my favorite Architecture build so far. Has anyone here done Robie House?

Thanks to Norm I have no spend way too much time on Brickpedia than I probably should. I am now also itching to buy some sets that are way too expensive...

Unless I'm missing something, the only thing I see are two trooper helms being added on page 210 of the Death Star. Then on the last page I see all the minifigs are added.

Norm adds that little aircraft at the end and the minifigs don't attach to anything.

It would definitely be easier to make the spreadsheet auto add their minifig weight.

Edit: If you saw this post change a lot I was looking at PDFs.

I have an imperial shuttle coming in the mail tomorrow (Get it off Amazon, you can save ~$80 compared to Lego.com once you factor in tax + shipping)

I also went to the nearby Lego store for the first time today. They had a finished SSD on display. I was actually surprised by how small it was compared to my expectations. The top of the SSD with the turbolaser batteries and miscellaneous pieces looked really repetitive to build and kind of a mess. I've decided that I don't want to build that one.

Seeing the architecture series was also a letdown. The structures are way too small and not that attractive in real life.

I think I'll be happy with the shuttle and may possibly even keep it instead of reselling it like I had anticipated.

Hey Norm, do they give you that cool Lego VIP card when you sign up for VIP or do you have to buy a crazy set? I just bought a Toy Story set for $30 on lego.com and signed up for VIP. I'm slowly going to convince my wife that our two year old can help me build one of the larger sets.

Can I feel free to call it "Tantric LEGOs"?
;)

Did the X-Wing tonight. This one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Really fun and fairly challenging for a newbie, lots of cool engineering (the way the S-Foils go in and out of attack position is really cool) and it's just a beautiful model when finished. Get this one!

Will cheating at the beginning. Vinny you should put Will in a penalty box for 90 seconds or something. That or make Will assemble one handed for 5 minutes.
