With the latest Ghost of game getting such a big and divisive response on here I've decided I'd like to play a Samurai game and I've narrowed it down to Ghost of Tsushima or AC Shadows.

I know there are other Samurai games but for myself I find these two the most interesting, but which is better as of today? Obviously Shadows is much newer but as I'm not that concerned about graphics which is the better game?

Tsushima is WAY better.

Story, gameplay, combat, game length, music, everything is vastly superior.

Raw graphical fidelity and more options for stealth are probably the only two things Shadows does better.

First act of Shadows is quite amazing but it goes completely off the rails after that and it never recovers.

Shadows bored me to tears and is the only ac game I have not completed. Looks absolutely stunning but very, very tedious and the directionless objectives that keep popping up are annoying.

Collect scrolls
Kill 25,75,100 enemies in each area
Collect tea
Collect food
Pray at shrines
Paint animals

Are some of the 'collectathon' activities.

If I had the choice to pick up a game tomorrow and it was replay Tsushima or finish Shadows, I'd replay Tsushima. The only reason I'm not is that I'm near the end of FFXVI and I don't want to burn myself out before Yotei arrives.

Ubi made the bones of a great game and then gave you countless reasons to walk away from it. I don't know if you can call it better, but Tsushima is certainly more gamey, and a more enjoyable/fun experience imo.

Ronin in my opinion is better than those two, and also way of the samurai series. I hope Red Dunes and Acquire make another new WoS

Fuck both…

This lady in GoT nearly ruined the whole game, gosh, she was so infuriating and I just wanted to get rid of her.

The fact that you have to kill your best friend, but you can't kill this backstabbing and selfish asshole made me boil inside. And no, I don't care about her tragic backstory, Jin should have had nothing to do with that loose cannon.

Hahaha was that Makedo if I remember right? Or Makado?

Ghost of Tsushima is WAAYYYYY better. Like not even a question.

Tip: Once you become familiar with the game mechanics and have a decent handle of the combat, change the difficulty to 'Lethal'. It's not like the game will suddenly become difficult. But you as well as your enemies will take significantly fewer hits to die / kill. It fulfills the ultimate Samurai fantasy to kill hordes and hordes of Mongol enemies swiftly without having to spend 30-50 seconds on one enemy.

The game becomes so much more fun that way.

The poll specifically asks which is better, but allows for multiple votes?

That makes no sense whatsoever. 😆

AC Shadows had a great base to build on but Ubisoft fumbled it. It has the best combat and stealth in the series with amazing tech. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has a compulsive need to pad their games out to an absurd degree though, so the game is a bloated mess with no structure what so ever. You just do random shit until you either burn out or see the credits roll. If it had a semblance of pacing or purpose, it could've gone toe to toe with Tsushima. As it stands, Tsushima surpasses it easily.

Some things are better in shadows some things are better in tsushi, overall for me tsushi is the very slightly better game but none of them is more of a 7/10 at the very best.

Rise of the ronin is better than both.

Gaf hates Ubisoft so no matter what common sense dictates they'll always pick the GoT, but lets be real, Shadows has better stealth, better visuals, better mecanics, better open world design. As for the story both games are generic revenge stories.

Finished both this year. Tsushima is incredible.

Ac shadows has fantastic Japan, weak story and mid combat. It's a good game but not nearly as good as got

It was one of the few interesting characters in the game.

Her and the bow master.

Too bad they had to turn her into a fish market enjoyer in the end:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Shadows, just like any AC game, is pretty tasty fast food. So, pardon me for these silly food analogies, but GoT tries to be a bit more sophisticated meal but doesn't really get there.

Sekiro would be my pick but it is hard af, but if I could get all the way to the last boss then pretty much anybody can (I'm yet to beat him, though).

best is Way of the Samurai 2, then way of the samurai, way of the samurai 3, and way of the samurai 4
best this gen is Rise of the ronin, then GOT, then shadows.
Im only talking about the samurai/ronin experience, not gameplay or anything else wise.

Let AC Shadows be forgotten. Don't think about it, don't mention it, don't talk about it. Get literally anything else.

GoT wins as easily as taking away candy from a toddler.

Yes you have a very large penis, we can see. Now please tuck that thing back into your pants. You're not part of the discussion, don't be weird.
????
discussion Is about best samurai game and I didn't neither of then and for me Sekiro is better than both.

I legit think Sekiro is a top 3 FromSoft game. Maybe number 1 for me personally. I think i completed it around 8 to 10 times when it released. Just kept on running through it. I got to the point I was untouchable. No game has made me feel like that, apart from maybe ninja gaiden black back in the day.

Why not? Also it is not Souls game, it FROM's take on action game same way Armored Core are not Souls games.
Yes, it is not a Soulslike. It's just annoying that some people view it as one.

To me, it's more like From Software's take on Tenchu. And Tenchu was always more of a "Ninja game" to me. But maybe we're arguing about semantics.

Same it's one of my favourite FROM game .

In GoT you also becomes a ninja and in Sekiro you learn samurai techniques from Isshin.

Sure. It's just that with Sekiro and how it plays, it feels more like it steers you into Ninja stuff. The way you are expected to traverse the environment and the whole premise of the story. GoT feels more "grounded" in that sense. But again, that's just my impression.
