How's everyone's weekend going?

I've spent yesterday and today preparing for this bed bug treatment. Wednesday can't come fast enough.

Been playing a lot of Overwatch as breaks from running all my clothes through the dryer.

I did do a double take when she asked me. At first I thought she meant Jojo from K-Ci & Jojo, but then it hit me, the white girl that did R&B. I haven't thought about her since like 8th or 9th Grade. Wasn't she a one-hit wonder? She said she came back out with a new album after ten years. I like "Use My Shoulder", but I ain't trying to watch a whole concert.

What label is she on these days? I know Blackground (Aaliyah/Missy/Timbaland's label/former label) was pretty much holding her hostage for the longest.

She tried her damndest to get on OVO, covering Drake records... having his long time producer do a record for her. and all that. I thought she would've been retired by now.

There's a BCT poster that has some explaining to do..... not gonna name names or anything but....

Jojo sold 7 million records. I'm assuming her deal was trash but that's a lot of money for someone with a good deal. Hell, unless it was TLC levels, that might set you for life.

I swear, if I hear one more motherfucking ramble-on about how the 70s were the most utopian time in human history where everybody got along and there was no prejudice...

I see Hidden Figures must've screened today or the embargo lifted, because you're getting a lot of reviews coming, the majority are very positive. It might indeed get some Oscar nominations.

Shit if I know. While late night writing I did find a blackappino singer (at least I think she is) that reminds me of 90s R&B if you're interested.

Okay you got me. I watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I started watching the show back in 2011 and have been doing so ever since. And you know what, it's a good show, I'm serious. It's has good comedic moments, character development , heartfelt moments and has some action packed sequences sprinkled in from time to time. It is a really enjoyable show and I'm glad I stuck with it for six seasons. It's also the only show from hasbro that has beaten the original Transformers series for number of episodes, too.

Also the fuck at that "game".

I'm in the process of getting one of my "well off" friends knowledgeable about Hamilton so they might help me get tickets for when it comes to London.

And by doing so, I'm on YouTube watching insanely good previews. Whoaaaaaa

More racist and more homophobic. Hell, I'm waiting for the Nate Parker Hoteps to lose their shit if Moonlight gets more shine than BOAN does.

I still want to see that. I asked my Hotep homeboy to come support black films with me and he was like "I ain't watching that shit!"

Hypocrisy

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...doctor-reveals-86-year-old-secret-on-NPR.html

94 year old doctor tells a story to NPR about how he stole $2 from his mother's purse when he was 8. He accidentally broke another kid's eye glasses. His mom presumed the black cleaning lady stole it. The cleaning lady was fired and branded a thief. He never told anyone until now.

The cleaning lady's name was Pearl. Now some are trying to find Pearl.

Black America in a nutshell.

His guilt is more important than her suffering.

I liked Birth of Nation and I don't consider my self hotep. The movie was of course overhyped, but considering it's budget and the scope of the story he wanted to tell it wasn't a terrible movie.

However most of the reviews for the film were savage on a level that I just haven't seen before. There were reviews whose thesis were "If you watch this movie, then you condone rape".

The fact that THIS is the version of "The Birth of a Nation" that gets essentially blacklisted, while the original "The Birth of a Nation" you know the same movie that led to the resurgence of the actual Ku Klux fucking Klan, a movie that literally inspired people to lynch other human beings, that movie is still regarded as an "essential part" of Hollywood's history.

You know any other year this wouldn't have bothered me as much. However, this is the same year Mel Gibson has a good chance to win best director. This is the same year where Casey Afleck has a good chance to win best actor. This is the same year Donald Trump got elected to become President of the United States.

I'm not not even angry it's just fascinating to watch Nate Parker ride waves of white guilt then be essentially lynched by the media within a 7 month time span. It highlights the fact as a black person you will always represent the entirety of your race. You are either lifting up the entire race as "one of the good ones" or you are "setting the entire race back".

There is no in between.

I side eye stories like this, because it is never about the person wronged.

So after my little brush with death yesterday, I thought I would be able to go to work today. Not even an hour and fifteen minutes later into my shift, I break down crying. I could not work today, so my manager told me to clock out. I feel like my mind is slowly destroying itself right now.

My friend told me the other day how he watched the movie with one of his other friends, and yet he still comes out the cut saying dumb, homophobic shit at times. Even has a gay brother too... I just can't.
