I use to do 5 hours one way all the time as an undergrad during holidays. I seen some crazy shit on Greyhounds, an old man dying from a heart attack, a crazy black woman with a swastika on her head. Shit one time all us passengers were evacuated off the bus and told to run away because the engine could explode.... It didn't of course.

However you know what I learned from all that shit. Mix some alcohol with a soda in a bottle and proceed to get tipsy prior to and during the ride cause fuck it could be worse..... It could always be worse....

I've never lined up to buy a system and I never will. 250$ to be the first to play Mario bros and replay a bunch of ports? Lol no. I'll buy it at 200$ in a couple years, when good original cames come out.

Blackface was all in the Trayvon threads posting a bunch of ignorance. I can't help but shake my head at him and posters like him.

I don't even think he's being malicious. The way I look at it, he's just a kid who doesn't understand how hurtful casual racism can be and refuses to look past his own sheltered childhood to see the world through someone else's eyes. He thinks when people take offense to his shtick that they have thin skins and doesn't stop to consider if what he thinks is light fun can have heavy implications and he refuses to take the weight of the past into account.

He's the type of personality that would equate the insult "cracker" (with all the historical weight of a sitcoms of the 70s/80s behind it) with the insult "nigger" (with centuries of atrocities and still ongoing bullshit associated with it) without ever stopping to think how absurd that comparison is because...you know? Fuck history.

It's inherently anti-intellectual and he espouses that concept more than anything else. A vast desire to put all thought and rationality behind him and get on with his life, cracking jokes along the way, and wondering what is wrong with all these people that are up in arms.

It's a common mindset in GAF, to be honest.

I talked myself out of it at around 5am. I had the means to set one aside but all the threads on the gaming side posting all the shortcomings and seeing the couple of guys sitting outside in the cold, made me say fuck it.

But as I was getting ready to leave at around 9am I saw that we had 1 white Wii U left and said fuck it. Got ZombiU in the process and the charging cradle. After the discounts I only paid like $320.

Got home took 2hrs for the update to DL. I now have 3.3gigs of space :/

Anyway ZombiU is kind of great, its not next gen graphics but its next gen hardware. I love the way the gamepad is used to interact with the game world.

Anyone picking up those ported games who already has a ps3/360 is a damn fool. The only games to buy are the ones specifically made for it(aliens gets a pass because that motion sensor will be godlike). So my next 2 games will be Aliens in December and Rayman in March, and maybe some indie games until proper Mario/Zelda/Metroid are released.

Hopefully I'll have a devkit after not too far into next year.

Too bad I don't have a big publisher, could make big cash making an FPS and use Nintendo's lack of charging for title updates or DLC and just drop maps constantly onto the playerbase for free, then have an optional purchase per map pack like TF2's stamp system. Hate how on 360, planned map packs die because you ran out of gamerscore that you could award.

Okay... so what all do you want to see in the simping thread?

Keep in mind that I'm actually going to attempt to keep it serious (a mashup of dating-age/depression-age/ifyouhadbros,they'dslapyoubro).

Also, if devo won't do me the favor of summarized this rabbit hole I've jumped into, I'll put that out too.

Microsoft generally only lets you have one free DLC release and one free title update per title. So a lot of times when you see a game have a free DLC release right after release, they're already burning their freebie. After that you've got to pay a notable amount of money to submit content.

Then, if you want achievements tied to that DLC to help it sell, the DLC must cost money, and Microsoft pretty much sets the price. They also have a max amount of gamescore that each pack can have.

Then, they have a maximum cap of gamerscore that any Live title can have.

So you basically have two choices:

1) Sit on your free DLC release and keep it for later (rarely if ever happens, since it's usually used to promote the game shortly after release)

2) Put more content under a single pack, which raises it's price and lowers adoption


If you're at max gamerscore on your title, you already have your free DLC out, it's basically "too bad". You could submit more DLC, but MS will charge you and you have no more achievements to help sell it. Developer just moves on.

Oh and of course the limit is non-negotiable until Microsoft raises it for one of their own games first.
