The Bold Statement thread....

Deluded Nintendo and Xbox fans start way too many threads whenever an "article" is written suggesting anything slightly in their favor or negative of Sony. Even if this article is written by a homeless man at the train station with a typewriter it will be reposted 3-4 times within 3 days.

In comparison deluded Sony fans are only slightly annoying as they just post numbers instead of retarded articles.

Bolded statement #3: The gaming forum isn't fun to read unless you have about 1/5th of the members on your ignore list :)

Sega and Sega alone, THEMSELVES, are responsible for their own downfall.

Flooding the market with product (32X, Sega CD, Sega CDX, Gamegear, Pico, Nomad, Saturn and Netlink) during those five years in-between the Genesis and Dreamcast console's ruined them financially and consumer confidence wise and is the TRUE Alpha and Omega reason why they are now only a mere shell of their former selve's...especially when back then, a five year lifespan was considered the norm for a single piece of hardware/console.

Imagine where they'd be today if the PASSION that went into developing the Dreamcast had been used in developing the Saturn or Sega CD or...

+1 GFord

During that 5 year span, I remember when all these systems were being released and thinking WTF are they doing to themselves.

I agree completely. It's why I didn't buy a Saturn or a Dreamcast (although I later rectified that mistake). After the Sega CD and 32X I just didn't trust Sega to stick with a product.

Final Fantasy VII is both the best and the worst thing to happen to modern RPGs. It set new standards in story-driven games, explored interesting concepts in its character growth system, and looked pretty too (for a while anyway). It's just too damn bad it's worshipped for its shitty characters and easily exploitable Materia system. The game's far too simple, Cloud's the dumbest thing to come from Square since Tom Sawyer, Sephiroth never did shit to earn his reputation as "ultimate badass of teh universe!", and Aeris isn't the gamer's Princess Di.

Final Fantasy VII is the most overrated game of all time, and a horrible FF. Cloud is one of the biggest loser protagonists of all time, and anyone who complains about Squall from FFVIII being a "pussy" has no idea what the hell they're talking about.

XBOX and its fans aren't just the embodiment of whats wrong with today's gaming and gamers alone, they represent a majority of everything that's wrong with today's society.

To add to this, most Japanophiles don't play FPS, not cause they don't like them, but because they're "Westerner" games and their obsession with a culture that's not even theirs won't allow them to try new shit.

Crash Team Racing is by far the best kart racing game ever. Massive single player, intuitive controls, beautiful tracks. Does everything better than any Mario Kart ever did.

I second this. Crash Team Racing is by far the best kart racer i'v ever played.

It looks like people are using this thread to hate. They're missing the point.

I'll make this bold...literally! :P

Frontline Force is the best team-based game out there (yes, better than BF, CS, UT, etc.)

FLF focuses on rewarding teamplay by giving teamplayers better aiming (achieved by sticking close to team-mates), higher scoring (assisting and helping teammates complete objectives gets you points too!), increased health (health increases over time while you are with teammates. The more teammates, the faster the increase).

Secondly, the objective (capturing points, while there is only one attacking team and one defending team) lends itself to teamplay. Capping a point by yourself isn't easy, and neither is defending a point.

This game features the most exciting FPS moments I have ever had. NOTHING compares to it. I just played the demo for BF2 the other day. I think it's awesome, I plan to buy it. It's great fun. You may have moments where the action and drama is so tight...you get a rush. But this only happens once in a night with games like this. In FLF, it's nearly every round.

I could make other bold points such as NHL 2K series being the best sports series...but that'd be a weak arguement. I think it's the best...but that's because I overlook some flaws. It's the best hockey game...no doubt...but best sport title? I'd have a hard time showing that, so I won't bother.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best game ever created.

The Revolution is the best looking next gen system bar none, and is the best looking (first rendition of a) console since the DC.

PS2 graphics are invariably amazing with high-resolution textures, high polygon counts, awesome lighting, tons of effects, and crystal clear image quality, all at 60 FPS. And all the games have great art, especially the ones created by Japanese developers.

Also, handhelds rock!

I wouldn't call Squall a pussy, more like the poster child for emo kids.

nintendo stopped making good games...better yet stopped caring about good games altogether once pokemon became their cash cow.

SoL's Great Truth™ #55:

2/3s of all the games I've bought in the last 2 generations have been for Sony machines. However, I have no love for Sony; if those 3rd party exclusives had came out on the Saturn/N64/DC/GC/XBox, I wouldn't have bought a PS or PS2, and wouldn't have had to deal with shoddy hardware.

Playstation consoles are better in theory than in practice. I myself often have paraded their library of games, but much like the days of the PSX...the PS2 really is a system of underachieving efforts propped up by a few exceptions and lashed into gaming culture by the same sort of mass taste that dominates other medias. It's the white bread of East/West gaming culture and even it's more intriguing games are usually more rough around the edges than soulful. It's the perfect gaming machine for most people and the obvious rallying point for GAF. I've bought more Playstation games this gen than for any other format, and I think it's experiences have least lived up to expectations.

Thats a fact.

Well...COCKLESS shouldn't tarnish the image off every Xbot. I'm an Xbot...and I don't hate.

Well besides hating Nintendo fans...and true, most of them are probably white...considering Nintendo's racist TV ads that used to be based on foriegners with not-so perfect grammar and thick accents in order to be "humorous". :P

Well maybe in some cases, but I think most of them are so used to very slow paced gameplay that seeing a FPS gave them headches, a "otaku" friend is so narrow minded that he told me that every FPS is the same "oh look a new arm and this time he has gloves, a new weapon, a new corridor" go figure :lol :lol

btw sporsk ***-ages and/or xbox live is not a good sample to declare that mosts of the xbots are racists besides I'm from Honduras

Sporks' avatar would be perfect with some racial epitaths sprinkled in there.

Far as bold statements, the PSP isn't worth shit without piracy. I'd balk at buying one even at 100$, AND you should too!

Programs like Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Painter, 3dmax, etc... are the Best (Most rewarding / Strongest community / Educational / Outside influential / Story-telling / Creative problem-solving / Life-altering) videogames ever conceived ----
And the general lack of appreciation for them (as creative interactive entertainment) is a concern about how narrowminded and non-theoretical the developers driving our industry can be when adapting outside influence into what we play.

Anybody too stupid to figure out how to install, configure, and connect to an in-game browser shouldn't be allowed to play online anyways.

Madden is the worst thing to happen to the video game industry -- ever.

Thanks the the Madden series and the various other sports titles which EA grew to love, we now witness the same games being spit out year after year... and selling better than decent titles.

Some more:

"Mature" games developers like Rockstar are going to kill the industry

FPS games are the most unimaginative, generic genre ever created and this will never change unless they start taking risks and adding new ideas.

EA suck in general, but especially because they've not given us a console version of Red Alert

Microsoft deserve to go to hell for not putting Age of Empires on Xbox Live!
