The Bridge is a crime thriller starring Diane Kruger, Demian Bichir, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Thomas M. Wright and Ted Levine. When the body of a cartel member is found on US soil, Sonya Cross (Kruger) from El Paso PD and her Mexican counterpart, Marco Ruiz (Bichir), must work together to solve the case. Marco, still reeling from the death of his son, continues to deal with corrupt cops and the demands of the cartel. Sonya meets an unexpected man with connections to her past who threatens to come between her and her boss, Lieutenant Hank Wade (Levine). The case quickly pulls them all into a complex web of money laundering, police corruption, and the Juarez Drug War which infiltrates the suburban streets of El Paso.

El Paso Times reporters Daniel Frye (Lillard) and Adriana Mendez (Rios) continue to follow the Millie Quintana Money House, a path that will eventually cross that of Marco and Sonya. Charlotte Millwright (Annabeth Gish) will have to make the impossible choice between the two worlds that have a grasp on her: the US government and the Mexican cartel. Meanwhile, Steven Linder (Wright) tries to do right by his Mexican immigrant love and ends up seeking justice the only way he knows how.

Cast:
Diane Kruger as Detective Sonya Cross
Demian Bichir as Detective Marco Ruiz
Ted Levine as Lt. Hank Wade
Annabeth Gish as Charlotte Millright
Thomas M. Wright as Steve Linder
Matthew Lillard as Daniel Frye
Emily Rios as Adriana Mendez

The original Scandinavian version is one of the best crime thrillers I've seen, ya'll need to check that out if you haven't already. Can't wait for the third series.

Looking forward to it. Hopefully there will be less police stuff this time and more...of everything else.

Btw Cornballa, where did you find the image for the banner?

I think Hulu has it actually. I definitely want to watch it one of these days.

Really looking forward to this. Season 1 had its issues, but FX came out and copped to them so I have faith they know what to do with the show.

More Diane Kruger? I'm in. First season was good. But i don't remember it very much. Some glimpses here and there. I'm going to need a good "Previosly on" section.

I was thinking the same. I know I watched all the episodes, but what happened at the end of season one I do not remember.

I'm really looking forward to this. It's been a bad summer for new shows so far, but the returning ones haven't let me down yet.

I have to say, once again the little teasers for this show have been great. The 'White River' and 'Hidden' pieces in particular are excellent.

Do we know if Brian Van Holt is recurring again? Unless I'm blanking on him being knocked off...

Yup!
the original version is really awesome.

It remains me "The Killing", that I really enjoyed a lot more the original version over the american remake.
I guess it's the european style, that seems to me more realistic.

I think he's still alive(?), but I haven't seen anything about him in the promotion material and it doesn't look like he's in the first episode.

I watched the first season until episode 10 or so. Liked it a lot in the beginning but it felt like they couldn't make up their minds what the show is actually about.

Guess I'll wait for the reviews after a few episodes to see if changing the showrunner has helped.

He's looking homeless in the new photo

I wonder if his search for his sister will be one of the major plot points this season.

I hope he has a large focus. He looks super menacing in that photo. I was shocked when he ended up having good intentions last season. I hope he got to end up happy with the Mexican girl he rescued.

hos the show, any good? I'm looking for something to watch
It's uneven. I think most people like the characters and the acting talent, but some of the plot arcs haven't worked as well as others. If the content interests you, it's worth watching a few to see what you think of it.

Finally got around to finishing season 1 last month. looking forward to this.

thanks for the answer, it's on Sky these days, I will get a taste of it

:O How do you do that? Just right click?

Yeah just right click on a blank spot on the page and the context menu will have the option.

Another thing you can do is right click and select "View Page Info" and in that dialog is a Media Tab. You can see all the media linked there and copy its URLs and view them.

Neato 8} Thanks for the info dood!

More reviews:
Digital Spy said:
I've seen the July 9 opener, and socially challenged US detective Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) and south-of-the-border lawman Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir) are back in fine, morally complicated form.
Oregon Live said:
That broader scope may prove to be an improvement in terms of how much deeper "The Bridge" can go in its cross-cultural storytelling. But the first two episodes of Season 2 are a bit all over the map.
Denver Post said:
Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Thomas M. Wright, Ted Levine and Annabeth Gish are well cast and their characters are fully sketched. Having seen two hours of season 2, I’m not ready to give up yet, but I’m starting to prioritize TV’s darkest hours and wonder if The Bridge will make the cut.

Season premiere tonight:
Yankee

Sonya meets a man connected to her past; Marco discovers he is no longer safe in his own department; Frye and Adriana investigate the origins of the money house; a mysterious woman crosses into El Paso
The episode will run 15 minutes past the hour.

Don't think I'll get around to watching tonight, but looking forward to this.

- Warming Glow on S2, highlighting this note from showrunner Elwood Reid:
In its inaugural season, my partner Meredith Stiehm and I took an existing story and format, the Danish-Swedish drama Bron/Broen, and adapted what became The Bridge for American television.

We loved the characters and story of Bron/Broen and stayed relatively true to the original story, which was centered around the hunt for a serial killer. That said, the serial killer thread was not the most interesting aspect of our adaptation. The most interesting thing to us has always been the shadow world of the border between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. And that will be the focus of The Bridge, this season and beyond.

- Andy Greenwald's review for Grantland: ‘Bridge’ Repair: How FX fixed its border drama for Season 2
The Bridge no longer seems a suitable name for the series that returns tonight at 10 ET. It suggests compromise and reconciliation when none is evident. What had become a rote potboiler simmering on someone else’s stove is now bubbling over with fresh eccentricities and exhilarating menace. Those who bailed out of frustration are advised to jump back in now. After a year spent dawdling between inspiration and expectation, The Bridge has finally picked a side. It has fully crossed over now, and it’s all the better for it.

Sounds like the case:

Most excellent!

I'm still really worried about how they'll end up handling Annabeth Gish's character this year though. She was by far the weakest link, recurring character wise, last season. Very curious to see what they'll do with her.
