The Bull$hit leaker problem and reliable gaming news issues

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
I stopped trusting and valuing main stream websites like IGN/GameSpot, etc., a long time ago. Once I learned that reviews were bought and sold They lost all credibility to me. These reviewers are afraid to give an honest review because the developer could hold it against them in the future made the whole model biased. On top of that, the main stream sites became ultra woke with throwing in their bullshit into reviews and I had enough. It is hard to trust these corporate news sources because you will often find they are biased.

So I leaned toward the Social news sections but it has issues: I found a few reviewers on social media platforms like Youtube that are aligned with my taste that I trust. The problem with this is these social Media reviewers just piggy back off each other so if one leak is wrong they are almost all wrong. Many will site "their sources" which is complete bullshit because all they did is read what someone else posted so it creates this entire false narrative in this news section. How many bullshit leaks about the Switch 2 have we read about for the last 6 months? I got to wonder if anyone is keeping tracking of all these "leakers" and the bullshit they spew out. It seems some just throw some random guesses on a dart board in order to get clicks. Even the Bigger youtube game channels like Spawn Wave, RGT 85, Dreamcast Guy, they just read online news forums and pretend they have "sources." Some of the Leaks turn out to be true but many of them do not. So this is not reliable either.

Where is a good News source that isn't corporate or prone to complete made up bullshit?

Reddit is a left wing deranged cess-pool but the gaming leaks sub reddit has a leaker tier list that is pretty handy as you're not the first to find a problem with this. They definitely keep receipts.

Honestly? I think manchildren gamers are at a fault as well when they start throwing tantrums just because an outlet dared to give a mediocre score to muh bing bing wahoo.

The world would be a better place if people just waited for and watched the X amount of gaming shows each year.

Ignore the people who learn something 5 days early and have to tell everyone because they have no other worth in the lives.

Reddit ( r/PS5, r/pcgaming, r/Games, r/gamingleaksandrumors)

Purple Forum (Many leakers there, so if you like leaks and rumors lurking the OT threads might be worth it, i use reddit instead and read what people pick up)

Neogaf (Non biased news, great discussions, obscure news get posted here )

Asmongold (If you like really obscure gaming news that the media doesnt even bother picking up)

I contribute a lot here to past up time and keep with the news, it's absolute hilarious when some big news drop.

No they're afraid to give an honest review because players get mad because of their opinion (that doesn't help that they don't really know what they're talking about in the first place and lack confidence as a result).

This stuff used to be happening behind the scenes and no one aware of it but that was fine. Today we have streamers playing while talking simultaneously and being %110 transparent with their viewers, call them fake friends but they're always there when we share an opinion piece about anything.

It doesn't exist. All places take any random annonymous 4chan post as serious news and copy paste each other saying they also heard the same from their 'sources'.

Simply wait for oficial confirmation from the companies, the direct source is the only reliable source.

I don't even think all the reviews are bought necessarily, it definitely happens sometimes. I think it's even sadder than that.

1) These are the reviewers actual opinions and they just don't know what the fuck they're talking about. I don't think any of those Deathloop 10/10 reviews were bought, I just think standards are low. It's kind of shaped the industry into the AAA hollywood cinematic game bullshit.

2) The reviewers are audience captured. Can't ever give a Zelda game a 5/10 because the audience will flip out on you and send death threats.

the worst fake leak that got me the most was when that idiot said toyama and sony were working on a big budget silent hill reboot and strung us along for YEARS

Yeah, honestly what do you even get out of paying attention to leaks anyway? "Oh man I can't wait to wait to buy a game!"

Official announcements from the developer/publisher/manufacturer.

Everyone you get 'news' from for 'free' relies on you clicking on and browsing/watching their content to get paid. So it's in their best interest - and theirs alone - to continually pump out bullshit regardless of how accurate it is.

Ask yourself these questions
  • Why is it relevant/important that you know about the Switch 2 months ahead of official Nintendo announcements?
  • Why do you care - years before the PS6 comes out - what the architecture is going to be?
  • Why do you care, before a game comes out if it has things in it that you don't like?
  • Is it important that you know these things before they're real?
You're just giving in to the hype and leaving yourself open to be disappointed. Let the hardware manufacturers tell you what their hardware is. Wait until the game comes out, watch a review from 1 or 2 people you trust, and then buy the game.
