Some people have fucked up eyes, i can understand how someone can see the "white" part blue since it has a shade of blue but how the hell can you see the gold part black?

The blue is consistently blue all the way through, and very blue compared to the white background in the top right and down the right side.

The other colour is brown at the top getting closer to black as you go down.

If you have to make a call between white/gold and blue/black it is blue/black because there is no white in the dress.

I opened the page and it was no doubt white and gold.

then, while scrolling the page down i encountered the same image and thought "yeah, now THIS is black and blue. Wait, it's the same pic..". It was brief and quickly 'turned' white and gold again to my eyes, but i can see black and blue again if i try.

The dress is actually black and blue ?

The way I originally saw it was that there is a light source from the left though a window and the dress was being held in shade. With only the background illuminated making the dress seem darker.

Oh great now my lollipop keyboard looks blue. GG eyes.

Even if the blue is a constant colour throughout, that constant is closer to white than the gold ever gets to black.

I think there's a different explanation, really.

Different lighting between dress and background.
The way you perceive those colors largely depends on what your brain assumes is the lighting.

At first glance the dress looks like it's in the open, just in something's shadow and when seen that way you'd think it's white and gold, with the blueish tint being the fill light from a blue sky.

But when you realize the pic was taken inside the shop and using flash it's easy to understand that it's just a "lighting misunderstanding" from 2 diff. lighting conditions in the same pic.

Turn your head to the side, so that you look at the picture from the corner of your eye. You WILL see it turn blue and black!

So yeah, this means the cones that are at the center of the retina are pretty fucked, but the cones are still working correctly I guess?

No. Because you wouldn't just be making the rose yellow, the entire image would be yellow shifted, allowing for the brain to recognise the context and know that the rose is red.

We're talking about colors of an object, the pixels of a screen. They are yellow. If you don't see yellow you are color blind.

When people see it as black, it's simply because the black is lit so brightly with warm lighting that it appears gold in the picture. We can assume that that part is actually black on the dress itself because the blue and everything else is washed out as well; but yes it does appear to have a gold tint in the highlights because of the lighting.

I see white and gold. However, after I see the others two pictures where it is clearly black and blue, when I instantly go back to the original image that I saw as white and gold, I see it as black and blue for just a few seconds before it fades back to the white and gold.

they have two different words for and can easily differentiate between these colors

but struggle to find the difference between these colors
