Ex wife tried to get me to watch this once and I just couldn't get into it. Such a weird film from what I remember and I may have fallen asleep. Labyrinth on the other hand is one of my favorites!

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I'm just glad the Jim Henson company is involved. It wouldn't have been the same without them.

Wow, can't believe this is happening! Now I want to track down the film and watch it with my daughters to see if it terrifies them as much as it used to terrify me.

This is for all of Netflix yes? Not just UK, or is it just being shot in UK?

Still sounds awesome, can't wait for it.

Are you fucking kidding me right now!? Yes!!! Oh my god that trailer, that soundtrack, it all gave me goosebumps. This movie horrfied me as a kid, but i love it as an adult

Damn!

Seriously, how does Netflix know what I want to watch even before I know?

I still haven't finished Master of None and Kimmy Schmidt is coming out tomorrow.

This is the very first thing that makes the 10+ years of my Netflix subscription worth the hundreds of dollars I've spent.

Man, this just made my week.

Yep, if they keep this up they are going to raise prices I'm sure. Quality isn't cheap I'm sure.

I *just* showed this movie to my kids (who loved it). My wife is a huge fan, she wanted to work for Henson Studios when she was young.

Awesome. I love that they showed a lot of practical making of stuff in there too to assure us it's gonna be puppets over cgi

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix. “I can’t wait for families around the world to see how we bring these unique characters to life.”

Gather around the TV and traumatize your children for years to come!

From a budget perspective, Puppets make way more sense than CG anyway. I would expect green screen backgrounds whether that means digital compositing, matte paintings or miniature sets.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?? Oh my god this looks beautiful! One of my favorite movies ever now becoming a tv show? Oh lord this is just to awesome.

This was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. My god father brought me to see it at 5 years old. It has always held a special place in my heart and has shaped the type of media I like (books, movies, etc) for the following three decades. I'm so god damned excited for this and I had NO idea they were doing this. Only knew about the sequel movie that got stuck in development hell so this is an amazing surprise

The universe of The Dark Crystal is fantastic - the movie itself is pretty boring though, so it shouldn't be hard to top.

Leading the writing are co-executive producers Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (Life in a Year), and Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, The 100).

Javier is a pretty good writer, so I have hope!

The little we did see looked great! Hopefully, if possible, they'll release an actual directors cut while they're at it. That'd be perfect!

I like puppeteering, but it's one of the most dreadfully boring movies I've ever watched with a glacial pacing. I first watched The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth when I got a double feature DVD a long time ago and later is far, far more enjoyable

Ah, this makes me so damn happy.

Maybe if this does well, they could try to adapt the sequel to live action? Maybe?
