I loved Gordon's final lines in Dark Knight. Bone chilling. It was SO comic book-ish, in a good way. It was reading that final bit before turning the last page over on a great comic book.
I just re-watched The Dark Knight yesterday and yeah, still gives me chills. That whole last scene with Two-Face never ceases to amaze me.

"Don't punish the boy Harvey, punish me."
"I'm about to."

I also love how intense he sounds when Batman rescues him from his death trap. "NO! NOT ME, WHY ARE YOU COMING FOR ME? RACHEL!"

Aaron Eckhart's performance is just as great as Ledger's in TDK

It certainly is one of the best endings of any movie I've ever seen. My mind was melting and incoherent when I first saw it, I had no clue what to make of it. Rogue Batman is such a cool concept... I really hope they play off of it at least during the beginning portions of TDKR

My only complaint with the ending upon rewatches is Bale's voice. His Batman voice typically doesn't bother me, but at the end he sounds like he is groggy from a bad cold instead of sounding like he's just had the unholy hell beaten out of him by the Joker followed by a bullet to the stomach and a ten story fall.

What if Fox typed in the wrong password?

TDK has some absolutely great scenes, but I really have no desire to ever watch it. It's just too damn dark and depressing. Batman Begins does a much better job of being serious, but also comic booky at the same time.

It's too dark and depressing? Depressing?

God, I'd hate to see what something like Come & See would do to some people. Suicide in the second act is a possibility.

A lot's been made of the 8 years batman's been away. I'm assuming the first encounter with bane happens very early in the film...has anybody made a good case that the 8 year lapse could be the recuperation period from that, or is it pretty obviously 8 years later from frame one? Can't really see it being that long a period, how long did it take him to return in Knightfall?

Almost everything we've seen makes it look like take places almost immediately after the 8 years.

That's actually a good point. What if the 8 years happens after Bane kicks Bruce's ass and Bruce spends eight years trapped and learning how to be a ninja again?

It would explain why Gordon is talking beside a large picture of Dent in the trailer. I don't see why he would still be holding memorial speeches in Dent's honor eight years after his death.

Yeah, the final confrontation between Gordon, Dent, and Batman was perfect, IMO. Best scene of the film for me.

Yep, it's easy to forget how good it is.

My favorite part is when Oldman says "so we'll hunt him" and that music kicks in and you see a wounded Batman running and stumbling back to the Batpod...

Yep. Chills every time.

The drums... so amazing. Full ending here:

"I'm whatever Gotham needs me to be. Call it in."

"You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me. Set the dogs on me."

Another awesome awesome scene:

Damn is Aaron Eckhart's performance underrated

I know I would have had more sympathy if they kept Katie Holmes. Just because she looks like this sweet innocent lamb with amazing ti-eyes.

Maggie played her as this smarmy fucking bitch that you just wanted Lau to slap right in the face. And I like Maggie.

edit.: Nevermind, thought I had a point but forgot it.

Eckhart's performance in Battle: LA was the only thing holding that movie back from a Razzie. He carried that film. He's such a great actor. He always brings his A game.

"Your Gotham's DA... if you're not getting shot at, you're not doing your job right"

-.-

Did anyone else burst into laughter at "Harvey.. everything's going to be oBOOOOOOOM!"

If billionaire playboy was also missing for 8 years it would be too much of a coincidence.

So hyped for this. I'm really sold on Bane to carry the lead villain role after DK, but I'm still not sold on Catwoman. I'm hoping the few glimpses of her in action aren't doing it justice, but I'm just kinda bored by her overall look and everything. I was expecting a more interesting look and personality, I guess.

I love the subtle throwback to Batman Begins when Bruce reiterates Ras Al Ghul's words, "criminals aren't complicated" right before Alfred schools him on the mad tangerine bandit. It primes us for the introduction of a new kind of criminal, someone who lives for chaos intrinsically, rather than instrumentally for other ends. It's a really nice moment of thematic progression.

In some other thread someone brought up the scene in TDK when Joker is hanging out of the window of a police car as it sped through the city. They said the music dropping out and everything else combined to make it one of the best shots in modern cinema. I can't argue with it.

In regards to Catwoman, I disagree. Personally, when I heard Anne Hathaway was cast to play Catwoman I was excited. Although when the pictures began releasing of her in costume I just wasn't feeling it. Then fast forward to the third trailer and seeing her in action and I'm officially sold. I think she'll be great and I'm digging the costume now.

Just thought I'd share my roller coaster of reactions.

Still really not jiving with the idea of a Catwoman team up. Batman should always be solo, goddammit. The closest thing he has to help is Gordon.

I'm talking about Nolan's Batman.

Bruce is the one that trained for years to become a ninja. After everything that we've seen him live through, I want to see him do this on his own. I fucking hate sidekicks. There had better be a very good reason to include Catwoman outside of 'it's the last film of the trilogy so it's our last chance to squeeze her in.'

Nolan is just doing it to suck more money off the merchandise. Its like the ewoks all over again.
