The Dark Knight SPOILER THREAD

I saw this last night, it was pretty good (stupid 180 on the batcycle, wtf is that shit?).

Did the "social experiment" on the two boats feel ridiculously contrived to anyone? I love the setup, but it was like no one on either boat could act themselves out of a paper bag.

There was a couple wallpapers posted a few pages back that I can't seem to find. The specific one that I'm looking for is the silver bat symbol against a rough surface.

The Batman voice grew on me with consecutive viewings. No longer a problem.

Ive seen TDK multiple times, and his voice still sucks. Its worse than it was in BB, and that was already really bad. Its probably my biggest gripe. I can accept sonar retardednes over the voice.

To me TDK is the MGS4 of movies
:O

But TDK doesn't lose all steam after the first act, isn't full of cringeworthy fanservice and dialogue, and is actually deserving of the hype.

Was more of an insult to TDK then anything else. Comparing it to a game with a plot that rivals a bad day time soap opera. Has to pretend to be an intelligent story by throwing in as many plot devices, story elements, and shoddy references. TDK is just a great movie ^_^

It deserves every hype that it got. The dialog is standard Metal Gear stuff. Meaning it's not going to win any Oscars but is way ahead of other similar cinematic games. Also, every Act of the game is great in it's own right. However, the first act ended on a pretty low note as far as game play is concern in comparison to all of the other Acts.

Actually, MGS4's plot rivals standard anime with robots and sci-fi stuff. I better not find you in the Evangelion wank-off thread.

You say it like if that's a good thing.

In some people's mind. It is. I personally don't like Evangelion. But I love Metal Gear. At the same time, I have done nothing but quote TDK over the last few weeks. Hell, I've seen the movie 4 times already including the opening at IMAX. Yet it irks me when people bash one thing against another when it's not a fair comparison.

Heath Ledger's performance as Joker was amazing, from his mannerisms to the voice - such a shame that an actor such as him had to die so young :(

Any speculation on what the villain in next film (if there is one) will be? My guess is Riddler, but I wouldn't mind Mr.Freeze...then again, Freeze doesn't really fit with Nolan's "realistic" vision of the Batman franchise.

Speaking of "realism", I doubt Robin or Batgirl (especially Batgirl, as Gordon's daughter was like...5 in this movie) would make an appearance either, although they could possibly slip Nightwing in there somewhere, if they subtlety altered his back story somewhat.

Overall, I'd give the movie an 8. Very entertaining, better than Begins and I can't wait to see what Nolan does with the potential 3rd movie :D

Never had a problem with it. Never will. never will understand the HUGE OUTRAGE over it, neither.

same here.. I found it a little rough at first back with Begins but I've really settled into it. There's really no other way it could work.

My honest opinion is that they could of named this movie after The Joker and Harvey Dent because both of those characters overshadowed Batmans character especially the Joker. It was like I was watching two different movies where The Joker was the star of one and Harvey was the star of the other with Batman as a supporting cast member. I loved the movie to pieces as it finally lives up to the praise and accolades the first movie got and they listened to criticisms and got rid of the "shaky cam/quick cuts" choreography from the first movie.

The only other complaints were that Chicago doesn't resemble Gotham in the slightest, the Joker seeming a tad too invulnerable at times that didn't make sense like the truck chase scene and the ending seemed a bit rushed with not as much direction compared to the brilliance of the first 2 hours of the film.

Overall I give this movie a 9/10 being the best comic book movie ever made and the best movie of the year thus far but mostly because Ledger's performance more than made up for a weaker than expected performance from Bale as Batman. Maybe it was more of the scripts fault than Bale's but for some reason as a Batman fan this movie didn't satisfy but as a Joker fan it surpassed all expectations and made me a bigger fan of Harvey Dent/Two Face.

Next villain should be someone who doesn't overshadow Batman so easily like Clayface.

I think you missed what he was saying, which was MGS4 to games, is what TDK is to movies. He's not saying MGS4 is a great "movie" in its own right. If he is then I agree with you. It's terrible, but all games are really in terms of writing.

Saw it for the third time today, and the second time in IMAX. Caught this line for the first time:

Sal Maroni: Friends? Have you met this guy?

Also didn't realize he was acting like his henchman that got electrocuted after trying to take off Batman's mask. I thought he was doing that to Batman himself.

That's it for me though. Three's my limit. I've never seen a movie more than twice in a theater before this one.

I don't want the likes of Robin and Batgirl to be part of the movie.

Yeah, its in the comics... but TO ME the prospect of seeing those two is just stupid in every way possible.

Awesome. :D

I always thought it was totally creepy that we got to see The Joker without his make-up--and in broad daylight, no less. Really characteristic of Heath's Joker, though.

If it's the Riddler, it has to be Johnny Depp or Michael Emerson. The universe will see to that.

But as far as the Penguin, I love PSH but I'm pretty sure Nolan said "no Penguin, ever".
