I read through the script tonight. Surprised by a few things (Half of Coleman Reese's conversation was cut - for the better), not too surprised by some other things (Heath pretty much owned the mob meeting, the script doesn't compare). For the most part, Nolan stuck close to the script and any change or addition was completely 100% for the better.

Man, the pre production stills of the joker were pretty fuckin bad.

They made the first miniature of the batpod out whatever was in Nolan's garage at the moment:lol

i wish there was more storyboarding in the book. :-/
Wheres you gets this?

So well done. :lol

But the ytmnd link isnt working for me.

Just came back from seeing it again from IMAX which again was Sold Out with 4 friends. 2 who had not seen Begins.

Dead Centre in the Middle, back row. Awesome night!

Thumbs up from everyone. You know this movie has done something when everyone afterwards talks with the Batman Voice and using Joker quotes :lol

Does anyone have a picture of Two Face from the movie?

I saw a Bootleg version of the movie and couldn't get a good look at his face.

Thanks.

Just saw it and yes it was awesome, just had a little question:

When Rachel is falling down from the penthouse and Batman saves her, his cape doesnt open and yet he falls on the ground like nothing happened, did i miss something cause it looked very high?
And when the joker was arrested how did he get out the interrogation cell together with the cop? He's suddenly just standing there between all the cops, weren't more people keeping an eye on him or the door?

My only compliant about the film is why don't the cops/anyone notice the school bus driving out of the hole in the wall of the bank?

haha.

Yeah haha that was quite a stretch, but w/e

Yeah you gave me one more question, how in the hell didn't they find all the explosives in the machine room of those boats BEFORE they left?

My only real nagging problem with the bank heist was when the two on the ground picked up the Joker, who didn't have his mask on until they pulled up. They didn't notice he was painted up?

They did come from behind him.

Didn't the vehicle have tinted windows aswell?

My nitpicks with the bank heist scene (i've watched so many times) are more to do with the way things are watered down.

The Jokers gun doesn't look real
Muzzle flash is very subdued
When guys are shot at point blank range the guns are off camera/hidden behind victims. (I'm not expecting victims to get whacked Sopranos style but come on)
The safe guy who gets taken out sounds like he was shot by a rubber nerf bullet or some shit
The Bus floors one mob guy conveniently into the bed of money bags to help soften the blow

Heh, there were a lot of things like that. It takes a healthy dose of disbelief suspension to believe the logistical miracles that the Joker is able to achieve.

Saw it for a fifth time, and the theater was packed. It was filled with mostly older people too (40s-50s). Seeing them all jump in unison when the fake Batman's body hit the Mayor's window was hilarious :lol

Of course I jumped when that happened opening night :D

Even the Sunday night, 9:15 showing sold out!

Maybe I'll do my part and see it at the digital theater tomorrow to hold me over till next weekend :(

It's a real gun.
Muzzle flash is subdued in real life.

And pretty sure the bus killed dude got hit with the door that the bus just smashed in.

Huh, I actually really like the way violence was handled in this movie; almost entirely off-screen. I don't need to see someone writhing in pain after a gunshot or when set alight. My imagination takes over.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I agree, but I have a feeling Nolan will include this in some sort of unrated cut, because he was definitely aiming for PG-13 with this.

Nolan doesn't strike me as someone who would go for something as hokey as an "unrated" cut.

:lol

Got better as it went on.

Are you speaking bat?

Do you know what annunciate means?
It doesn't have anything to do with physical contact.

How do you communicate with anyone? :D

edit:

Also TDK is the darkest PG-13 movie I've ever seen.
An unrated directors cut would be great, but i don't think it's gonna happen.

The movie was great but all these little writing mistakes took away from the magic.

While the article does pick up on some leaps of logic, he keeps hammering on about the Joker being a man of contradiction, regarding planning and scheming. Not understanding the entire point of his speech to Dent was to disguise the very fact he makes extremely detailed plans.

One thing the article did mention was during the highway chase Joker does shoot a bazooka at Dent in the police car, which would have at least injured if not killed him. Regarding his larger plan it does quite silly in retrospect.

Oh my what a nitpicky little bitch :\

I mean come the fuck on, it's just an action movie it doesnt have to win the award for best script or something :\

I agree, some things ARE ridiculous though. As I said before, they checked all the bridges and boats but they didn't find all those barrels and explosives in the machine rooms of the boats?

I think this is because the Joker's plans kept evolving as the story progresses. At first he wants Harvey dead and Batman unmasked and probably dead as well. However, as the story proceeds his plans change depending on circumstance.

For Batman, he decided he didn't want him dead and unmasked afterall. Instead, he just had too much fun fucking with him and decided that he wanted to basically terrorize Batman forever. That, or push him to his limit to see if he would break his rules.

For Harvey at first he was trying to just kill him outright at the beginning. I have no doubt that if the Joker found Harvey at the party, Harvey would've died. Same goes for the time when he shot the bazooka at him in the police car. He didn't know if Harvey was going to survive the explosion either (probably wanted him to die at this point as well). After the shit turned out the way it did (Harvey surving but half his face is disfigured + Racheal dead) the Joker used that to corrupt Harvey instead of kill him.

Atleast that was my take on his plans.

As for the logistics of planting bombs everywhere (hospitals + boats + prison guy), yeah, that seems a little farfetched as does the escape from the bank robbery. But eh, I'll just figure that it's still in a comic book universe and shit in that universe goes unnoticed for the most part which is also why nobody noticed the Joker's scars during the parade. lol

The school bus just happens to break through the wall at the exact moment that the last remaining bank robber is holding a gun on the Joker. How is everything so perfectly choreographed that the robber ends up in the exact spot he needs to be to get hit by the bus? Not realistic at all.

That's how far I got. Someone that pedantic does not deserve attention, they just need to go and get laid.

5. The Rachel/Dent/Wayne triangle.

I hated the fact that Rachel was in a serious relationship with Dent yet she still kissed Wayne on the balcony at that party. This made me lose respect for her character because she is basically cheating on Dent.
This is where I determined this was a complete and utter joke:lol

You know a film is great when you eventually get a blog post detailing some of the most nitpicky, if not flat-out incorrect bullshit about it that I've ever had the displeasure of reading. It was painful to read through that. I would seriously hate, with every fiber of my being, to be the person who wrote that. How can he possibly enjoy anything? The kicker is that he completely misinterprets the Joker's philosophy, calls it "terrible writing" after misinterpreting it, and then uses it to influence several of his other meandering, nonsensical points.
