To the people participating in the beta: Are you going to keep your preorder or have you decided to cancel?
Keeping for sure.
I do have some concerns about some things, but for the game itself. The gameplay.
She'll be a keeper for me.

There's a bunch of side missions scattered around the map tooWhat PVE missions? I thought the only mission was the hospital one?
DPS is damage per second. In the Division it seems to be some combination of Damage per bullet (DMG) * rate of fire (RPM or rounds per min) + reload speedcould someone explain something to me...which of the 2 weapons I'm comparing in that image is the better one?...the equipped one is showing a DPS of 2367 at Level 4 with DMG of 280...while the other is DPS 1509 Level 8 with DMG of 1299...so what exactly is DPS?...so is DMG the most important factor?...is a Level 8 weapon better then a Level 4 one?

then why do they show the DPS in front of all the weapons and not DMG?...what exactly is DPS?...they make it seem like the higher DPS weapon is the better one

I'll probably keep it but I'm not that excited about it. I was one of those people who was was super hyped for Destiny even after playing the beta, but had zero interest in playing the MMO side of the game so I totally dropped it after it got the tiniest bit grindey.
Hopefully Division isn't like Destiny in that regard, but we'll see. The visuals are pretty impressive on PC and the gameplay is decent, but I'll drop it if it becomes grindey and I'm shooting the same generic enemies in hoodies over and over.
I REALLY wish this game was just a normal single player game, with online coop, in the city they created. I'd be super into it if that were the case.
Typically, DPS is the stat you want to compare BUT you have to keep in mind the difference in Weapon Types as well. The weapon on the Left is a Sniper Rifle while the weapon on the right is an Assault Rifle. So the AR will always put out more Damage Per Second because it's got a large clips and fully automatic fire. However the Sniper Rifle will hit harder in a single shot but fire slower and have a smaller clip (which will also probably take longer to reload)
I'm having fun with the beta, but I really hate this map of Manhattan. It's like the devs went for a weekend trip and then did their best to remember what the skyline and streets looked like. I was also sad to see that the beta ends at 29th street, I work on 27th (which looks like is completely skipped as the next street on the HUD map is 26th). At least they nailed the lighting.
thanks everyone for the explanations on DPS/DMG...
so when comparing the same weapon type, say Assault Rifle, the DMG will be the most important factor to look at or is it still a combination of all factors such as rate of fire etc making DPS the more accurate overall representation of a weapons capabilities?
The key to figuring this out is that DPS means Damage Per Second. So for The Division, the number labeled DPS is the amount of damage you can deal per second assuming every bullet hits at the optimal distance.

So you'll want to take into account your personal weapon preference and playstyle when comparing between different weapon types, rather than just looking at the highest DPS.
Do you like to keep a Distance and pick enemies off with accurate shots? A Sniper (called Marksman in this game) Rifle or an AR. Like to get in close and spray a lot of bullets? SMG or even an LMG. Want to muscle your way in and do a ton of up close damage? Shotguns all the way.
So whether or not the Marksman rifle is better depends as much on your playstyle as the pure damage output. If you don't like using it or aren't as good with it as you are with other weapons.. then the amount of power in it really doesn't matter. But in plain words, that Level 8 Marksman Rifle is really strong and will probably be even stronger once you put some mods on it. Whether it's an upgrade to you really just depends on how you play.
Agreed, the damage statistics could be simplified and made more clear than they are now. DPS shouldn't be the primary indicator of damage in a game with such a large variety of weapon types. And honestly, this just shows how silly the DPS stat in this game is, when they should've just used a simple "attack power" stat for the weapons, sort of like how destiny does it. Let's take the shotgun vs AR for example; your AR will constantly be missing due to recoil, but a shotgun deliver a single burst of damage that is typically hard to miss if well placed. How is DPS reflective of the actual damage you're doing then, when the shotgun is about 300DPS weaker than the AR, yet I'm killing stuff consistently better than with my lvl 4 M4?
This is one of the major things about the game that needs to be changed prior to release; instead of the DPS aggregate, just go back to showing us the base damage of the weapon.
9+ hours of the beta and all green guns so far, sigh. Gimme a good drop already! I know I can purchase them but come on man!
I can't find DZ chests anywhere. Haha
I see big boxes with two handles on the side at places where I clear enemies, but even if I have keys I can't interact with them at all.

do the Hospital mission on Hard...you'll get a Blue item and the "boss" should drop something good too
got one of my Blue guns as a drop and the other was the mission reward just running it once
or do DZ at level 8
I've done Madison on hard 3 times, all greens.

God hates you. Just quit.
Does anyone know how to force the checkpoint vendors in the Dark Zone to change the items in stock? Or is it a server side thing? Does restarting the game work?
they have a restock timer...they rotate items after a set amount of time
I think it safe to assume their will be raids.

Prepare to be disappointed.
Does skill power mean anything in beta?

Anyone wanna pt up with me? Im getting tired of getting killed before evacuation. PSN: Elfstruck
Another question about stats: is the confusion with DMG and DPS similar to the relationship between Health and Armor? For instance, I just equipped some armor with an "Armor" rating 16 higher than my old piece, but my "Health" went down because there is a perk for increased damage on the new item while there was an increased health perk on the other one. Am I more protected but have less health? It's all a bit unclear.
