Okay, some bad news. The beta only has one mission. The first hospital one. I completed it in 30 minutes.

Yup, same as alpha I believe. Go to the mission board in the base and it should give you side missions and encounters. After that it's explore/go to the darkzone

Yeah, they've added a prompt saying that mission is it - now go play Darkzone PVP.

Downloaded the bèta, have a job interview this afternoon but then after I'll give this a go. Xbox One folks, add me: BlueNinja BE.

Been trying to log on for an hour now and it's still telling me, "The Division services are not available at this time. Please try again later." I'm starting to wonder if something's wrong on my end.

Surface of Me

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
Just played the hospital mission, was good. Hope there is more than 12 in the full game, else this sounds like Destiny all over again. Loving the RPG elements, it seems like a competent shooter as well. Exploring the world so far has been super fun. Just stumbled on a rooftop path and took it for a good while earlier. Also, that main track that plays as your just going from place to place, sublime. Really great atmosphere and presentation.

Depends how long the missions last. I do remember a vid talking about later missions taking between 45mins to an hour but who knows. Hopefully there are a bunch of good side missions and encounters too. Of course we also have the darkzone, hopefully that's good too. They also need to reveal their plans for end game, that will be interesting.

If the full game only has 12 missions it won't last long. But hey, Destiny made billions of dollars.

Heading into Darkzone now.

dang 12 missions...
was watching a guy and he was running towards the darkzone but then the light blue message popped up on his minimap was that like a random generated point of interest or contact to fight npcs?

If it is 12 main/story missions there's still more content there then Destiny had, as they'll last 30-45min.
Also don't forget side missions and random missions to find is probably not even included in that.

Ah interesting, thanks for the info.

There's like actual side missions with part 1, 2 etc from what i've seen. Also you have the "random" event encounters like help JTF fight these thugs or grab some virus samples. The nice thing about virus samples is they usually take you somewhere where you wouldnt really go otherwise, eg. a nice tour of rooftops fighting enemies.

That sounds good, I like it

This game is built on the back of the Dark Zone. Just wait till you make your way to an extraction zone for the first time, never knowing if someone is lurking to kill you, you get up there and call the extraction, marking yourself for possible death. It's just as blood pumping as the best PvP I've had, and it's more intense because you actually have something to lose. If you're in this for some story missions, then you may not want to bother.

I wish the text was bigger. I sit about 20 feet from my TV and it was nearly impossible to read.

Just had a massive gunfight outside of Madison Square Garden, which was awesome.

30 fps is awful on Xbox One, messes up with the aim and shooting. I played for one hour and already had my fill (nothing new to see in this beta).

Will jump back on it tomorrow on pc.

I'm gonna spend like 20 hours just exploring that damn city.
Then doing the main missions, side missions and Dark Zone will easily give me enough fun and content in hours to make my 30€ for th game worth it.

This isn't an MMO I'll grind on for 200+ hours.

Is really 12 missions?, I think I read is 10 missions for each Base of Operations branch, so 30 missions plus the final mission and whatever they have at the beginning of the game. Maybe is 12 main missions and the rest is just secondary missions?.

Sounds like opening each wing would count as a main mission and then the completion missions for each wing would possibly be side missions? That's my guess anyway

Having a good time early on myself, on X1, but two noob things I am struggling with (maybe I missed the tips but I checked in the menus): how the heck do you switch to your pistol and how the heck do you actually throw grenades?! :-(

From what I read in articles and interviews, there are 12 "main missions" these are described as "very setpiece, scripted, story filled missions".

And then there are a big amount of side missions, that are not as crazy huge as the main missions, but also have their own story threads going on and have follow up quest chains and such.

And then of course the random missions that will pop up like "save these soldiers" and such.

press the left d-pad then hold RT and release when you have a good area to throw the grenade. If you hold the left d-pad, you can switch between grenades before using it.

I don't know about the pistol. It has infinite ammo, so it probably can only be used if you are using the shield perk (you can only use a pistol with the perk).

Press "Y" to switch primary weapons, double tap "Y" to switch to pistol.
