So what's the initial impressions so far?
Day 1 or 7-8 out of 10 ish game

Don't know what the concerns are with the map, it seems plenty big in the beta and that's before you realize how much is walled off until release.

Gunplay feels tight, reminds me a bit of the newest splinter cell and Watch Dogs, which isn't bad.

Game is very pretty, as someone who lives in New York I guess Im a bit bias but the city is very well recreated, there's a few instances where I've stopped mid game to recall a personal memory because in the game I'm in a location I've been to in real life, which is...odd, but not bad. A testiment to their capabilities over there at massive.

Dark zone is interesting at this point, the engagement type you can expect with other players changes based on the current situation.

In the subways for example, I saw very little agents killing agents because everybody was more concerned with being slaughtered by the AI down there.

But next to extraction points, all hell breaks loose.

Some people just wanna get in and get out, but then some rogue agents will show up and start shooting, and all you see is like 10 people sprinting around a snowy new york street popping in and out cover, some running away cause they don't wanna die and lose their shit, some standing there cause they don't know who to shoot and what's going on, some guy on a police car doing jumping jacks and shit.

What's crazy is the ability to slip into an alley for a quick escape, the density of the city gives you alot of options in case you find yourself being hunted.

For example, there were some rogue agents that showed during an extraction, and I basically ran completely around the block to flank them, then dipped into an alley and back to the extraction. Was glorious.

So far, it's at an 8 for me, really depends on how high level darkzone and PvE content is handled for a 9.

Has it ever been confirmed what the xb1 resolution is running at? It really feels like 720p, since there seems to be a bit of blur (still looks good though).

I imagine the ps4 will run at 900P, and then PC will... yeah.

Either way, very curious to see the other platforms tomorrow. I need them comparison screen shots ASAP

Holy shit the auto-aim is disgusting. Almost like a lock-on.

Also, is there any way to take a group of guys undetected? Probably not.

Put the sharpness up to 100%.

To bad the screenshots dont show up in the activity feed.

You mean players?

Well, once you go rogue, your nam is red and if you don't use a suppressor you show up on the minimap.

Is it any different from the alpha?

More or less the same.

Since writing that reply I've taken a closer look at the map and tried to remember what was there in alpha, and I'm pretty sure there's an extra road or two leading up to the DZ that've been opened up that were previously off-limits.

Disable Chromatic Aberration in the options, and play around with the sharpening setting until you find a balance you like (personally I think the default 50% is fine, but someone else in the thread said they preferred it cranked up).

I'm pretty damn sure it's full 1080p on XB1. Took some screenshots with edges that I'd be able to pixel count before realizing that sharing was blocked, but eyeballing it the steps are perfectly pixel-for-pixel, so there's no scaling.

Nah, NPCs.

PvE is terrible, as expected. Gonna have to wait for PvP with friends tonight before making further judgements.

Game looks relatively nice. A bit flat but that's to be expected.

Try logging into uplay via your PSN account rather than e-mail / password. Think there's a button to do so under the login text fields. That's what got it to show up for me.

That's what I did, didn't work. It didn't even show up for me who actually got the code in my email.

Game impressions sound awesome. I just can't wait to discover the game and start making my char more and more strong.

Pretty specific question:

Is the beta area comparable in size to the Destiny beta? That was most of Earth and they added the Moon area for a day or so, too.

And how large is the beta area compared to the full game's map?

Cool sounds fun. I'm just worried that the gameplay will get a bit repetitive.
Are there any objectives in PVE that are not 'go here kill these people'?

the red outlined area in that was the alpha area available and is apparently 99% the same in the beta.

Anyone else who signed up for a ps4 code get the first email that said you had guaranteed access but not receive a second email with the product code yet? I got mine but my wife and a friend of mine both only received one email so far (this was from signing up almost 24 hours ago). Also nothing listed under beta access on their uplay accounts.
I preordered a couple weeks ago from Amazon and got the email sending me to the beta website. Put in my code and was told I was guaranteed a beta code through email. Still haven't received it. Not sure what to do. PS4 version

I know there's hostages I've had to rescue or defend, but pretty much everything has a healthy amount of "go kill" cause that's kinda the whole thing.

There's a sidequest I started about tracking down a missing person, that might go a bit differently depending, but I'm sure I'll still be killing somebody.

I can certainly see how that could get repetitive though, hopefully we see some more variety before release.

Same problem here. Also ps4 version. Really hope I'll receive it today, so I can start downloading and be ready for tomorrow.

well,if you play one game a shit ton, you'll get good at it,no matter how bad you are at games in general.

Honestly if this had free dlc/updates it would be a pretty easy buy...but 60+another 40??? Ehhh probably not

It does have free updates and free added content, but it will also have paid for DLC expansions and such.

it's a mix.

also, please, 60$, who pays that? get game cheap online like everyone else please :-*

That's a bit disappointing but if the gunplay feels good i guess it could still be quite fun.

Oh, what about classes, how important do you think they will be?
I mean do you think that they will feel unique, with each playing fulfilling a different roll.
Or will they all more or less play the same with a few minor differences.

Here's some info on endgame and other things. http://www.division-agents.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=506#p3584

Campaign content and missions in hard difficulty

Asked about the length of the campaign, he confirmed more than 10 big, more linear missions that can be played in a normal and a hard difficulty:

There’s more than 10 main missions which are more linear experiences, to balance out the complete freedom of the open world. With our open world you can go anywhere. But you can also commit to a focused mission, where you can try out all those skills and stats you’ve been building and crafting. Put it to the test in one of these experiences we’ve build as the campaign missions and of course the side missions. (...) Hard Mode is for you to come back and try it later for a different type of reward and much more difficult challenge. You can do it from the get-go, but it’s not balanced for a normal player to play through normally on hard.

Fourth faction confirmed
As of now we have the Thugs (normal bandits), we have the Rikers (escapees from the prison) and the flame-throwing cleaners. But apparently there is a fourth faction they have not talked about:

we allow the player to wander all the way across the map to the most difficult area with a super high-end cool faction – which we haven’t even talked about yet

Changes in the Dark Zone once we hit level-cap

As you level up the character, the Dark Zone is split up in segments with a progressive difficulty, but once you hit level cap:

the whole Dark Zone re-populates with all-new content and challenges suitable to that level. And now the entire Dark Zone, instead of being segmented where you explore further and further north, the whole Dark Zone is repopulated completely for you to tackle openly again.

So once you are level 30, you don´t have segments but one big Dark Zone with a new population of enemies. Very promising.

There are no classes, there are only skills, mods for skills (talents) and perks.
You can have 2 skills and one signature skill equipped and everyone will eventually unlock all skills, talents and perks.
So you can build and play however you want and switch at any time.

You can try and focus on your three stats (firearms, stamina and electronics) though to cater to your playstyle.
A tank would have high stamina for health for example.

I love all the people in twitch chat not understanding this is an RPG.

its not just that stupid nonsense either.

ugh

Damn. With sharpness up to 100 and brightness down to 30 really helps the game. Looks great now instead of soft.

Stop i need this!! HQ screenshots.

Are you licking you're screen.

Still i wish we had a bigger map.

Some pixel counters on b3d have said that the alpha was full 1080p on xbone (though it really didn't looked like XD)

I'm assuming the beta is the same, but i'll only get to play later today.

I really don't know about the map. It's a lot bigger than you might think. Add the sewers, rooftops and inside of buildings to it and it's not really a small map at all, especially with all the detail.

Guys, it's a shooter RPG about shooting people.
You will be shooting people. A LOT.

And that's unfortunate because the gunplay is pretty bad lol. I played through the closed Alpha on XB1 with friends and tackled the available playspace and darkzone... it's not horrible... but fuck the gunplay is forgettable-tier at best. And that's a shame because the eerie backdrop and some of the areas are truly gorgeous. Sadly i have a horrible feeling this is going to sell pretty well than totally flop for Ubi.

someone here earlier said the aim assist on xbox is crazy huge, but i am wathcing these streams and people miss like half their shots all the time.

how bad is it then?

edit: is there no flashlight in the game?

There are some side quests/activities that involve locating and activating objects within the environment within a time limit, too (usually in some of the more complex multi-floor interiors, or across a series of rooftops, from what I've seen).

Although those all cap off with a firefight against a group of enemies too, unsurprisingly.

Oh i know its just sucks knowing that Brooklyn is not in this game and whatever else might have been in the game.

Just hoping whatever they add keeps the game fresh (another borough, buildings, tunnels..etc). Because after a while playing Manhattan is going to get pretty boring scenery wise quick, though I'm sure they are going to do the whole The Division 2 (hey remembers those other boroughs?). Hope not though.

Thanks. Hmmm, so roughly a quarter of the full game's map. Sucks that both Destiny and this seem to launch with a relatively limited amount of scenery to explore..

Got to keep people playing somehow i guess. Piece meal scenery and map with DLC.

Sucks but whatever as long as its worth it.

It's huge. It almost snaps to target when you get close most of the time... really annoying.

Hopefully with the beta running for a few days and all the feedback from the community they make some changes to this or add an option or two to either disable to lessen the assist.

This is my main concern after the feel of the gunplay and "RPG heath bullet sponge mechanic".

I played maybe a dozen hours on XB1 of the closed Alpha and by the end of it i was truly burned out on city streets, sewers, rooftops and corridors that all look alike. This game would have benefited greatly from different areas around the city connected by maybe the train/subway system. Train to the nearby suburbs... train to the beachs etc.

And battling the same dudes... ugh, a TPS RPS with only human targets that quickly all look and feel the same... i'm worried about that too.

I'll see how the Beta feels today and if it's all the same and i get tired of it real quick.

I'm not a fan of Destiny post completing all TTK content... but you gotta at least give it to Bungie for having a rather diverse "world" to explore... even it they completely overpromised/cut content for DLC etc.
