I like that there is an actual perk in the game that gives you damage resistance while you do the cover to cover dash.

That sounds pretty cool and will be really useful for me when I'm running away from a pack of hunters in the DZ! :D

I beat the beta mission and now heading to the dark zone, I don't think you ever run into other players unless you enter an instanced zone like a safe point or mission with matchmaking, so don't expect a destiny overworld in this game.

It has always been said that only social hubs (camp hudson and safe houses) and the dark zone will have you meet other players. Outside of that,it's a single player game if you want it to be.

Browsing GAF nowadays, I think the days when mainly juniors made needlessly crude remarks are long gone :')

Anyway, I'm gonna play the beta on PS4 so I can't discuss specifics with you just yet.

Does the gameplay feel somewhat diverse? As in, is it only go to place, shoot stuff, go to other place, or is there more to it?

Do you feel anything could realistically be improved to 'save' the game from getting boring quickly?

I didn't mean it in offense. But I think there are still loads of "the usual juniors" on the different sections of GAF.

I'll also be playing on PS4 so it will give me a good chance to compare/contrast.

From all of what I played in the closed Alpha it was simply shoot him/her/this/that.

I feel like there has got to be some big "stuff" the devs are hiding back from us content or gameplay wise. As it is, in the Alpha/Beta section of the game, the Division honestly feels like it could get boring really quick. Even though it's got loads of potential.

I personally really feel it needs more locations other than Manhattan or even the city in general. I want to see a snowy, deserted suburb area... a creepy, rundown beach boardwalk section... something even in the nearby mountains in NY. If trains or some sort of transport could be used like ships in Destiny to travel to different "planets" in the Division (Burbs/Beach/Mountains etc.) it would lend a lot of diversity.

I haven't seen many comments on the cover system (though the thread is moving at an obscenely fast pace, I may have missed a load). I really liked the 'on rails cover dashing' in the Alpha - it was one of the hilights for me. Like GoW but better. What's the general feeling GAF?Looking forward to having more time with it over the weekend!

Yeah it does remind me of GoW

God damn it! I want to play this so badly! Looking at the Beta client on my PS4 dash fills me with pain
lol
. Only 27 hours 'til I can join the Action!

The cover system is good. It takes some getting used to as you can plot paths to nearby cover via a white line and then simply hold the button down to navigate (sometimes complexly) to the highlighted area of cover you had selected from your previous position. I personally think GoW still has one of (if not the best) cover mechanics in any FPS... but the Division is really close. It's very Uncharted in ways as well. Overall i dont see many complaints developing over it.

I'm not expecting huge differences graphically between the X1 and PS4 versions but I'm looking forward to comparing. My only complaint with the X1 version is the occasional tearing.

I was able to play about 20 minutes this morning before work. I like the feel of the game so far and I'm looking forward to putting in more time today on XB1 and PC starting tomorrow.

I'm hoping it hits other countries and it becomes a worldwide pandemic. Gives them the excuse to trot the globe. Maybe the Division could be an international orgnisation even.

Same. I'll be playing both beta side by side to compare.

The XB1 honestly looked damn good... but that tearing did distract in more than a few occurrences.

Yeah Destiny GAF got insane - I'd come back a few days later and there was already another new thread :O

That's cool, I will have to try some more complex routes tonight. I played most of the Alpha in hard mode and found it much more rewarding - it made you make good use of the cover system. To anyone playing the Beta, I really recommend the higher difficulty (though there was one part I just couldn't complete - it was solid).

Can anyone confirm or deny if the beta has proximity voice chat? I heard that they decided to add it to the game after all.

The cover system works pretty well, you can look at a part of the world and hold A to sprint from cover to cover.

One thing that does bother me though, and this was brought up during the alpha... there is no crouch button.

I'd imagine it's there :)

I just wonder if this is something that will have a long lasting community on PC or something that will be dropped and have next to no players in a couple months time...

Yeah hard mode meant you actually had to utilize cover... where in normal you could just run around and take out even the "boss" yellow guys with ease. Begin with normal then when you get the hang of it... or if you're with a group... switch to hard.

Yeah, that's one thing I didn't experiment with in the alpha. I was suprised when doing a side mission where the target was on a catwalk above 2 levels of scaffolding, and I was able to point to cover near the target from the ground, hold A, and it would automatically clamber up to the cover point above.

I'm very excited to try this out on PS4 tomorrow. Just so happens I have the day off work too!

Anything vital to know before diving in? Or is it all fairly self explanatory. Dark Zones are the only thing I don't really understand right now. Especially with all this going rogue stuff. Still, the game looks great. Hoping it has plenty to offer. Especially in terms of loot and mission variety.

Ohh man.. That sounds terrible. Another 60$ single player game that will get filled with dlc.

At least thats my fear. Will try beta 2morrow

It's primarily an SP experience, but very easily allows you to interact with other people if you want to. Hell, there's nothing stopping you and a bunch of friends from beating the entire campaign as a group.

Even though I downloaded it, I kind of don't want to play the beta. I played a ton of the Destiny beta beforehand and it really ruined my enjoyment of early parts of that game (especially since you were in the first area for so long).

They have definitely improved the AI difficulty in the Dark Zone. You can't just run up on certain enemies if they are one or two higher levels than you. You'll get taken out real quick. Beta is solid so far. Runs smoother than the alpha.

To all beta players: I am level 10 in darkzone-level. But I am not able to open the chests in the darkzone. I have 2 keys and the prior required level but I can't open the damn chests.

Anyone with the same problem or with a solution? Thanks

I'm OK with this. At least there appears to be no false promises ("oh look there's my friend getting dropped off by his ship!!"). It is what it is. I'll be glad that random people aren't there to tag all the enemies before I can get to them. Happy to play solo but also, the game will shine for me as a coop experience.

Do you lose your loot if an NPC kills you?
