There's only 10 story missions total and if the core gameplay is this boring, more zones probably aren't going to help that much.

Not saying some people wont enjoy it - but I imagine a lot will get bored quickly

8 hours unto this beta and I can't stop. Bring on the full game!

DZ is shit without atleast one other person. Absolute shit. If you could keep gear without air lifting it out that would be something but the way it works now you are gank meat playing solo.

SCAR + sniper scope + go hide on a rooftop = solo play till you hit level 12 and get that top assault rifle/shotty

If Destiny lasted as long as it has, this should be an all time classic in terms of how-long-people-play.

I don't know, I wasn't even really a big fan of Destiny and I still found its moment to moment action more exciting. Granted I've only played a few hours of this so I do hope it gets better as you progress

If anyone is curious about Remote Play controls on the Vita. They're GREAT!

Very similar to Destiny and Fallout with sprint even toggled with d-pad down.

Ubi usually does a good job with Vita controls but it's nice when devs take extra steps to ensure the best layout possible and not just whats good enough.

one of the npc's in the base of operations just said: "agent, the fact that you are still alive is a testimony to your skill...that or the whims of destiny"

am i right in taking this as a funny little shot at destiny? because even the way it was delivered. i thought it was quite funny.

There's literally 1 story mission and the low level zones available. If the full game builds on this, should be fun.
Yeah 11 other similar story missions should keep us busy for, like... hours, even.

We level-capped, did all available mission/side mission, played DZ for hours. 80% of game time you're running down some empty street just praying you see an enemy. So you can shoot at something besides a rat, dog, or car window. Or stand around, vaulting over the same piece of cover while the group awkwardly attempts to find something to actually do. Side quests? I'd rather not punish my friends. Hey man lets run down empty streets for ten mins and maybe shoot five under-level A.I. guys.

It's a beta. But now I have real concerns. First 20 mins this was Day 1. After 7-8 hours? Idk.

On Xbox One, how do you switch to your side arm? Hitting "Y" toggles between my other 2 weopons, but have not figured out how to switch the side arm (hand gun).

Is it just 1 story mission, X amount of side quests and darkzone in the beta? Also has it been confirmed whether the side misisons we are currently seeing are the only variations or if there are more but just not in the beta?

I feel like there is a good game in here, but this beta is so feature limited that we are probably missing out on some of the more engaging features like base building and crafting. Getting gear is awesome.

Completed the all missions/sidequests. I had a decent amount of fun. Stopped at level 8. Will come back to play in Darkzone.

I got to play earlier today for about 15 minutes; very brief. I loved the graphics, movement seemed good. I died in my first firefight, but had to stop since I had to get some sleep for work tonight. My son played some and seems to like it. Gonna try to get some more time with it in the morning when I get in; cautiously optimistic about it so far.

Janky ass controls in this game.

My friend and I were duoing in the dark zone.. I got 6/6 items, and we went to extract. The chopper arrived and my pal extracted. I was stuck on a crate and couldn't step off. By the time I got off the chopper was gone. Called it again. Group of 6 players rolls in and kills me and takes everything.

Logged out and done.

I don't have any trouble finding stuff to kill. There is basically one big spawn near almost each of the landmarks. I just run a route between them.

Thing is, right now you've got everybody piled into a tiny part of the dark zone and you've probably got fairly high concurrent player numbers because of the short beta.

On top of that if somebody else kills the PvE stuff and gets the loot/money you kill them and get the loot/money. Either way the zone is producing, you just have to find your niche in the food chain. :p
These fights against AI are over in seconds. Why the fuck would I run around in circles chasing that?

The cat and mouse with human players is interesting for a couple hours. Until it's not. Until you really don't give two shits about loot and another extraction, so you shoot eachother out of boredom. Until you've had enough of that too.

You're free to like what you like man, but I cannot imagine running between spawns like that. That's worse than the side missions.

Dude. Do you even grind?

OK, I was a bit skeptical of the dark zone concept at first. But I met up with a group of strangers and had a ton of fun! I really like that you can hear voice chat around you, I think that is a really underutilized idea. Even though the beta doesn't matter my heart was pounding every time I tried to extract. Anyone want to play a group on PC?

This is sounding pretty good. I'm loving the atmosphere of some of these shots. Thanks for posting them everyone.

A little worried about what seems like easy griefing and harassment, hope that doesn't frustrate me too much.

Just played a small amount to get a feel. So far the controls feel pretty tight and the game looks awesome. Fantastic atmosphere, excited to jump on later tonight and play with a buddy.

Came in the thread expecting a lot of bitching....wasn't disappointed.

But I'm enjoying myself, considering it's a beta I think the full game should be right up my alley (pun intended)

So far I don't see why you want to go rogue, you won't gain anything?

Sure you do. You get items/dark zone cash from your victims. If you survive the manhunt you get even more cash/exp at the end of the timer.

On top of that it is fun, I mean that is why some people play games, not just for the economic sim aspects.

You run around in circles chasing those encounters for the loot, duh. Then when you have the loot you have the challenge of getting it out of the zone. This is a pvp/loot game, if you don't like that then no amount of explaining it to you will help.

Running around the map is how you run into interesting situations in just about any game. Do you just want to sit in blank room pressing a button to get the cheese?

I don't know what you were expecting since you don't seem interested in the PvE or the PvP. Crafting?

Admittedly with the perks/talents mostly locked, the smallish zone in beta and the low level cap the PvP doesn't have as much variety as it needs. The full game has all of that though, right?

I don't feel like the DZ is doing much for me at the moment, I would prefer to continue on with the SP side of things.

I had a quick play in DZ and it just felt like nothing was happening. There seemed to be no enemies and while a handful of rogue agents, That was insanely rare, Just felt like a waste land of running around doing nothing.

Darkzone got pretty boring for me pretty quick. It seems so empty . The side missions are pretty short too. It would be nice if there was also a stand alone pvp mode.

Played on PC for about an hour this morning. If anyone is curious how it runs on an Alienware Alpha, I have the i3 version with 8 gigs and it ran around 40-45 fps with a mix of low-med settings at 1080p. I'd say it looked on par with the Xbone version with a better framerate.

Been away for the day. Is there a verdict on differences between PS4 and Xbox One?

It has been a mixed bag from what I have read. One video posted suggest that the Xbox One looks a little better, but others have stated that there is less screen tearing in the Xbox One version. I am really annoyed and can detect screen tearing and there is some in the Xbox One version, but it has been very limited from my play time.

It seems, again based on reading replies that both versions are pretty solid. I played the Alpha and it is a huge improvement going into the beta. I know some are waiting for DF analysis to get us numbers.

I think the game is pretty dope, though I only played for a couple hours and that was mostly solo in the Dark Zone.

I'm on PC and the graphics are awesome, and I'm playing on mostly Medium settings at 1440p. Ubisoft seemed like they really did a good job with the PC port. It looks great and there's a shit ton of graphical options and customization.

I'm sure the PS4 version will have the most players but I think I'm still going with the PC version.

If you preordered you should have gotten one. Maybe log into your uplay account and see if it's listed there in your info?

I got the pc version which I think you need the email for, I redeemed the promotional code and received an email guaranteeing beta access and a follow up email.. Checked uplay with no luck

I can't decide which I want to go with. The PC version looks fantastic, but you never know if it will actually maintain a decent amount of players.

Hates the game because he sucks at it, sounds like Gerstmann.

After 8 levels I was already bored of shooting bullet sponge "dude in hoodie with a gun" enemies and a long career of doing more of that didn't sound worth $50. The janky controls ruining my extraction was just the icing on the shit cake.

We had a group of like 10 guys marching through the DZ laying waste to all rogues.
It was awesome.

The game doesn't compare to the e3 2013 demo, but looks really good on PC anyways.

Has anyone else that was in the alpha noticed that the map has changed completely. It's not a "hologram" anymore at all.
