Not sure if it's been asked (hard to search via phone) but is there any random pickups or loot hidden around the streets? I keep running around (feeling like fallout ) looking for stuff haha

Oh no sorry I wasn't clear. It's level gated with your ''true'' level. The orange bar one.

Ah. Hmm I think that is still good right? Do you benefit from leveling up your true level? Perks aren't unlocked by levels correct--just by missions? I can see people doing pure low level pvp builds to have the DZ "easier" for them; someone gets to level 15 to get the stuff they want and stops leveling up and only level up their DZ level.

But still having any type of system in place is great--nothing can be perfect.

You seem to know a good amount, are you enjoying the beta so far? I played the alpha and only played 30 minutes of the beta and put it down since it just seemed like the same experience; I'm hoping to do more stuff later though.

lol@the cap

doesn't ignore the bodies

I didn't do it, they were already there when I came around. They must have been getting drunk while listening to Jingle Bells.

For the hour and a half of the beta I played from 1am this morning when it went live, I'm absolutely loving the day/night/weather cycles. Shit is so fresh!

I totally agree. I don't usually take screenshots, but every now and then I find some incredible spots. When it snows hard, the game is gorgeous.

Yeah but a lot of it is crafting stuff not used in the beta.

Messed around with settings little bit more, PC;

Besides looking really nice graphically game is very solid in gameplay too. Cover system works really well and free customization of gear at will encourages you to test out different attachment configs and different weapons.

At the moment I can't think of any other game that has had such a polar opposite when it comes to people and how they think the game looks. It either looks fucking incredible (me) or it looks like a fucking PS2 game.

Thoughts after a few hours...

- Dark Zone is the best part if you have a small party of friends. I can see it getting pretty repetitive though.
- Single player story is nowhere near captivating enough to sustain a PvE Campaign.
- Graphics are okay but really not that great. Kinda muddy.

- I like the world and exploring, especially apartments.
- I like the different clothing and the inventory management etc.

Gonna have to wait for a review but at the moment I'm definitely holding off on this.

Yeah I played a LOT. I don't think I can find any upgrade for my gear now or it would be extremely small. I devoured it with 3 other friends :p I have a lot of purple quality armor and weapons mod and I also bought the two high end weapon. (Orange quality, highest quality)

Sadly I don't have much to do anymore since there's not much content but I had lots of fun so now I take it slow for tonight and hang around in the thread helping people with their questions as much as possible ;)

Is it possible to loot purples or yellows from DZ chests or can you only buy them?

There's only two orange in the beta and they can be bought, no clue if they can drop but those two are the only one present in the beta build. They will also be in the full release but will be higher levels. My group never got a purple drop, it's probably possible but super rare.

lots of loot containers with crafting materials, other loot containers that may have weapons, equipment, or cosmetic items, civilians to help for some XP and possibly items, businesses and residences to go into and search around, lots of buildings that can be climbed on top of using fire escapes or ladders that may have stuff to find, "intel" cell phones and missing agent stuff to find...and more I'm either forgetting or that's not in the Beta

forgot there are also underground areas (sewers, subway (?), etc to go through

Do you think a person who likes Destiny but hates PVP (doesn't play the PVP in Destiny) and only plays the story, dungeons, and sometimes raid there will like this game? The concept, environment, and setting seems really intriguing. Thanks!

Now to my final verdict, since I think I have played enough to give my personal opinion. I won't be able to play tomorrow, and I don't know when on Sunday it ends, but I am more than satisfied with what I got to play. I am sold. Gameplay is fun, to those saying that the guns don't feel realistic, or that they don't have recoil, we must have been playing different games. That being said this is an RPG through and through. We got a glimpse of what the campaign is like as well as the mission structure and how the game works. I also found it kinda cool that when I looked on my map, I could see where the people that are on my friends list are on the map as they too run about. This is going to be a blast. Not sure whether there will be a strong end-game to this, but I sure hope so. I know I will be playing this game a lot. But I wouldn't mind getting even more out of it after the credits roll. Ubi, I'm all yours, the wait for the final release begins now!

It seems like buying loot is going to be easier than extracting? I am surprised that they sold orange-tier loot, maybe it is just for the beta.

I wished they let us sink our teeth in the crafting, it's a bit cruel to give us blueprint and even get the tutorial prompt that you have enough material to craft something but you can't :p

The dark zone fucking sucks. Literally, it's just gank squads waiting by spawn areas ready to gank you 24 fucking 7. Literally can't do shit without having 4 guys blow you away. Great fucking game developers.

lol I got murdered because I didn't have a mike. They stood around me talking but all I could do was wave and they murdered me. lol

Yeah, heard on the official Ubisoft stream that it's to give people a taste of high end gear. He did not specify though if there will be some that can be bought or they all need to be found.

Fuck me Dark Zone is spooky. So much adrenaline pumping through when you have to extract your precious cargo. This is going to dominate my gaming time easily, content seems near endless.

I highly doubt the content will be anywhere near endless, it's already starting to get repetitive. It's fun but I wonder how long that feeling last

Alright thanks? Are they easy to spot? I haven't found anything yet but yet again I have very limited time with it

I have purposefully not engaged in this beta since my prior times playing it but it seems like its something special. Which is what I originally thought at PAX and again playing awhile ago. I also think, despite a typical downgrade, that it looks very pleasing even now.
Yeah I'm just horrible at creating GIFs lol.
Nah its fine. The original videos FPS looked like vomit for some reason so you were working with bad source. Its totally cool

Yeah when you approach they are highlighted. If you upgrade the Quarantine lab as well in your main base of operation you can equip a modifier on the pulse scan that highlight chests :)

So, are assault riles better then regular single hit rifles?

Depend how good of a shot you are and the stats and perks of the rifle. In my opinion one type is not inherently better than the other. Depends on the gun AND the player. Their effective range are also a bit different, single rifle can hit targets farther.

Ironically the video source was my own haha. The video framerate was fine I just botched the GIF making - guess the interval or whatever was set low.

being a solo player on DZ was one of the most awful experiences i had on this gen. maybe i'll get @ $20 to play the PVE content someday.

I had a blast playing solo in the DZ. Clear out PvE camps by myself, don't loot anything that I don't absolutely/positively want. If so I set the waypoint for the extraction I want, pop the flare on the best corner of the extraction, then move a good distance away to hard cover to spot with marksman rifle until the helicopter is there. If it looks clean or just some other friendlies extracting I run up and dump my loot right as the rope appears.

I've run into very few people that are willing to be flagged rogue just to kill people who don't have a loot bag.

I don't like the assault rifles I've tried at all. I prefer a marksman rifle for range and an smg for up close. With the pulse damage buff I've got a rifle that 1-shot kills non-elites with a headshot and its accuracy seems pretty much perfect. If I aim properly I hit.

What settings are you using?

I'm getting really bad drops on PC. Running it on ultra and it sits around 55-60 but will randomly drop to 30ish sometimes when I turn around

They took the time to make good controls for remote play. A big plus for me.

Watch Dogs remote play was incredibly well implemented

Glad to hear this one is too

While Destiny is definitely spongy, the fantasy setting makes sense for the enemies to take a ton of bullets. A guy wearing a ski mask taking a direct shot to the face with a double barrel... that just feels off.

I think a lot of people were expecting a Tom Clancy game. The name is what causes that, which I think is what a lot of hang up is (mine too, even though I know that's stupid). I'd personally liked it more, if they're going to use that name, to just make the shots count. Maybe almost one hit kill on you but equal on the enemies. If anything, the face! That's my biggest beef.

I think I was more casual and wasn't paying much attention to what the game was and built my own expectations around falsehoods.

People sure as shit don't think about this too hard when their waifu is in a bikini in the latest adventure

We were given one SP mission. It was fun. I think the other 11 main missions will be great.

I'm a bit confused.. How do you play this game? Do I randomly walk around looking for missions going on or do I have to sign up for a mission at a specific place?

there are two message board things in the starting main social area, inspect them and it will populate things to do on your map.

One thing I wish Massive would implement is a shortcut for a consumable. You decide which consumable you shortcut wether it's Soda, Water, Energy Bar etc either on left touch pad or D-Pad Up.

I find it really cumbersome to eat an energy bar to drop your debuff if you got for example caught on fire, it usually mean you are on the move or your cover was compromised, moving and at the same time opening a radial menu feels really clunky.
