I'm a fairly new cat person and both of my cats like to climb on my computer desk while I'm trying to work from home these days. They haven't cost me any work yet thankfully!

It's fine. You just wipe the table down before you set it to eat a meal.
I tell my cats off if they jump on the table or kitchen benchtops, but if they do, no big deal.
Cats are much cleaner than dogs. Especially indoor cats.
