great news, I can't wait to pick the SACD version up. I already have all of those songs (just like Weezer Deluxe) but who cares? surround NIN = what I've been waiting for on the format. Well, that and more Pink Floyd but those are coming soon as well.

I agree, surround sound NIN = love. I'm just curious if the second disc with the b-sides and demos is also going to be in surround sound. Either way, its cool that they are including all of that with it.

I would get the 5.1 music dvd but... what is the point of 5.1 music? Where do the sounds come from, and WHY? Or is it artistic license? They use certain channels for different instruments for effect?

I just don't understand WHY it is necessary. Better quality on a big ass dvd, cool, but 5.1?

it says that the second disc will just be a CD. As for the DVDA it will have the cd on one side and the 5.1 DVDA remix on the other. In other words, the second disc is not surround on either album.

EDIT: fuse, it's hard to explain if you don't have a player + discs. The SACD version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in surround is just amazing. The DVDA version of Barenaked Ladies Maroon is also great as you can hear instuments in the speakers that you couldn't hear on just the CD mix.

Find a DVDA disc by a band you like and buy it. Listen to it and see if you don't notice the difference. (Unless you have a Sony player that does SACD in which case get a SACD by someone you like.)

If you had actually checked out the link, you'd see that the DVD-A is out the same day but the Closure DVD is delayed for legal reasons.

Very happy to see a DVD-A, as I'm not about to rush out and get a SACD player just for NIN. But now Yoshimi and Downward Spiral will be 5.1 buddies and all that jazz in my collection.

Sounds like the DVD-A version doesn't include the bonus disc though, hrm.

The SACD is so mine. DVD-A doesnt sound as good as SACD, plus with the SACD you get the cd layer, the hi rez stereo and the hi rez 5.1

I think it does. It says that the DVDA has a cd layer on one side of the disc and a DVDA layer on the other side. The cd side may be the bonus disc from the SACD release.
