I recently played Resident Evil 7, 8, and 4 remake for the first time on my PS5 Pro and I played the PS4 versions so I could unlock all the cheats (infinite ammo, x ray glasses, etc) and backup the save files on my USB since it was such a pain in the ass to unlock them and I might stop paying for PS Plus one day. Anyway, I'm now playing them all on the PS5 Pro version and the HD rumble and adaptive triggers are INSANE. I literally think the PS4 version is the most peasant version and I can't believe I ever played it that way. Do these dualsense features of third party games work on Steam as well? Or do the developers only add them to the PS5 version?
 
It's too big , they need to take off the touch pad and add real start select buttons back and make it smaller then it would be s tier.



Edit just because everyone else is bringing up other controllers.

Xbox : They need to put the rubber around the buttons to make it quiet and softer ..not so clicky. They need to completely change up the dpad . Keep the same shape but make it feel like the sega saturn dpad.

Switch 2 pro: this controller is nearly perfect. Some would say it just needs analog triggers. I'm not one of those people. The new rumble is like dual sense but hits harder. The buttons and dpad feel great.
This is the best controller out now for my personal taste.

Battery life aside it's really hard to disagree.

Comfort, sticks, d-pad, triggers are all top level.

I really can't think of any other controller that beats it.

I wish third parties would make more use of the motion control and touchpad.

Yes they do, Returnal feels GREAT with it. DualSense even works for HD rumble in Switch emulation. You can feel the ball drop into the cup in Golf Story.
Controller needs to be wired for haptics, probably because Sony fears it's a possible haxx0r vector.

If you get lucky with an Xbox controller, the Elite Series 2 controller wins EASILY.

Shame that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo don't give a shit about actual quality.
 
The thick handles rub against the inner edge of some of my knuckles, making them sore. Feel like they need to be a touch thinner, mainly indenting a bit in the mid section. I guess the haptic motors are bulky but hopefully they can shrink them down a little for PS6 or perhaps put multiple smaller ones spread out for more resolution while slimming it out.

I have it and still prefer the base Dualsense. I agree OP, couldn't give a shit about the bells and whistles like adaptive triggers but in terms of pure feels, it's the GOAT.
 
Dualsense is the best controller I've used. All its features are useful in some situation, even the touchpad to wright faster or as extra buttons. It even has some improvements hard to notice, like the quiet face buttons. The battery is justified by all that it does.

For PS6 the improvments could be:

PS Vita D-pad
1 button in each grip (L4, R4)
Hall effect sticks
 
Nah, worst Sony made d-pad by far. It's a shame, 'cause otherwise it's pretty good, might even be my favourite for 3D games but I aint touching anything 2D with it.
 
Round out the bottom corners a bit and give it a better battery or swappable packs and it's near perfect.


Also Goated sound like something getting sexually violated by a goat
 
I'm sure this thread has absolutely nothing to do with all the love the Xbox controller is getting in the other thread.

It's a great controller yes but the battery life is utterly pathetic. It's not uncommon for me to go a month without charging my Elite 2.
 
The series x/s controller is overall a better design imo. The dualsense is too big. The haptic vibration isn't strong enough. Get bitten in re8 village using dualsense and then using series controller and you'll know what I mean. I think they should have moved away from symmetrical sticks in the ps3 gen but it's too late now. It's like their dna.
 
Love the Dualsense - think its fantastic. Never had issue with battery life but have recently got stick drift on the left one.

Ive sent it off to get new TRM sticks fitted so hopefully that upgrade will work and be worth it.

Series X is good as well - just a bit small and clicky for me.
 
Agreed. It has some flaws but once you play a game that properly utilizes it, it's hard to go back to other controllers.

Been playing gt7 with the controller recently and now its hard for me to play any racing game that doesn't support haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. They just feel a few gens older.

Yes, you get Dualsense features like HD Rumble and Adaptive Triggers on PC with a wired controller connection. The PC game must support the features.
 
For the PS6 controller:

I think adding a high contrast e-ink display to the touchpad would be a smart move. Devs could do various things with it such as map at least 4 custom buttons on to there and the only time it uses battery is when changing It'd cost next to nothing too.

A single set of back paddles or back buttons as standard (they should communicate with MS and both agree to do this so that it's standard across the industry, allowing devs to do standard, common input control schemes built around it) .

Hall effect sticks.

Much better battery.

Perhaps 4 smaller higher power haptic motors spread out providing greater combined intensity, more resolution and more locality while allowing them to slim the mid section of the handle out a little. They could call it "QuadSense", lol. Trigger haptics need a little refinement too.

Instant speaker mute button in addition to mic mute button.

Better quality dac/amp for speaker and headphone output.

And perhaps an additional mini face/shape button in the middle of the four main ones. Adequately resistant and indented enough to not accidentally press while being just prominent enough to not be a struggle to press. I'd also colour it the same as the chassis as opposed to the buttons for any contrasting colourways as not to offset the visual balance.

Also think the default launch controller/s, accessories and console/s should be based around an ever-so-slightly darker version of the Sterling Silver DualSense/Faceplates (looks really slick and more futuristic while differentiating from the same-old-black and the bold but already dated white):

It definitely feels premium. I really dislike the triggers though, and it does feel a bit too big and not relaxing to hold honestly. It's good though.
