The Dualsense is the most GOATed controller of all time

It's also the GOAT for me on PC.
It makes all games that have full support of it (mainly sony games but also some others) absolutely shine.
Xbox controller vibration feels like child toy in comparison.
The adaptive triggers is far more advanced than the impulse triggers on Xbox, though the latter is greatly used when playing Forza.

However, a lot of PC ports are not supporting it and this is beyond sad.
Stray, Callisto Protocol etc... lots of titles use Dualsense feature greatly on PS5 and devs didn't bother porting it to PC. Utter trash.

It is a good controller, but has the build quality of a fisher price toy. Have went through 4 of them, all have stick drift or defective triggers. The fifth one I have just now has been modded with hall effect sticks, even at that it's still nowhere near as good build quality as third party options offer thesedays.

It's too big , they need to take off the touch pad and add real start select buttons back and make it smaller then it would be s tier.
I 100% agree but it will never happen unless they decide it's okay to break backwards compatibility. PS4 games rely on the touchpad/lightbar more then PS5 games.

I guess they could have it where you need a DualSense for BC but that's too messy messaging wise.

It's my least used controller, well at least it was until my series controller developed stick drift. As a controller without considering the advanced tech it is subpar - especially the battery life. The enhanced rumble/haptics are nice I guess - but the active triggers I actively dislike - makes the trigger motion feel 'gritty'.
Just give me an 8bitdo controller with hall effect or TMR sticks, back buttons (so I never have to click a stick again) and I am happy.

Haptics are cool and all, but the Triggers.....nahhh, hair trigger all day all night.
Hall Effect needed too.

The greatest of all time of all time?

I agree because the exclusive features of the dualsense are a game changer. And sadly most games don't support those features on PC.

Since the drivers released pretty much every game that has "exclusive" features on PS5 has those same features on PC.
With DSX you can even add features to games that dont have official DualSense support even on PS5.

From a feature standpoint I agree. From a hand feel and design standpoint I absolutely hate it. It's my least favorite Sony controller.

I think it needed to be a tad bit smaller, and in 6'3" with big thin hands.

Definitely the goat stock controller. Dualsense implementation, when used well in a game, truly adds to the immersion. A game like Astrobot wouldn't be the same without it. Haptics can be great, but I personally don't care for adaptive triggers all the much to be honest.

But what really sets it apart is the built-in mic. Being able to fully talk with online players by just speaking directly into the controller and not having to wear a headset is a game changer for convenience that doesn't get talked about enough.

i would like to be more straight in the holding edges, A little more like the Dreamcast controller.

A new version of that control with added shoulder bottons and another analog would be teh Goat. Can't paste images in gaf so google it

It breaks too easily. Between my son's PS5 and mine, we've been through a bunch of controllers. Sticks start drifting, face buttons get sticky, and the tiny little spring on the L2/R2 buttons has popped out of place and gotten bent. We've had to buy 4 or 5 replacements (one for me, the rest for him) along with keeping broken units around to rob spare parts off them. It's annoying.

We don't have these issues with Xbox controllers on the PC. It's less sexy without the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, but I'll take reliability over sexy.

Perfect shape and heft. Has great features on it. Battery life could be better but it lasts long enough unless you're no life'ing every day. Only major thing I wish it has was back buttons and redesign the front bumpers a bit to curve down lower on the side. Overall I love how it feels molded for my hands.

I recently played Resident Evil 7, 8, and 4 remake for the first time on my PS5 Pro and I played the PS4 versions so I could unlock all the cheats (infinite ammo, x ray glasses, etc) and backup the save files on my USB since it was such a pain in the ass to unlock them and I might stop paying for PS Plus one day. Anyway, I'm now playing them all on the PS5 Pro version and the HD rumble and adaptive triggers are INSANE. I literally think the PS4 version is the most peasant version and I can't believe I ever played it that way. Do these dualsense features of third party games work on Steam as well? Or do the developers only add them to the PS5 version?
Xbox 360 controller and the dualshock 4 are better. Still a top 5 controller for me though.

The last time I tested was in Monster Hunter Wilds demo and not works. A simple search in google and we can find a lot of problems regarding compatibility.

I absolutely prefer the PlayStation style controller over anything else and without thinking to much about it, probably would go with the Dualsense variant. The trigger resistance and haptics etc are pretty nice and I enjoy a controller with good weight to it too.

I used the Xbox style controller for years on the 360 and PC, but I didn't like the hand positioning or overall feel to it.

It's fine but when you switch between it and Xbox Elite 2, sometimes a few times a day, there is no comparision, imho....Elite wins hands down. I also play with headphones so I don't hear the clicky buttons.

It's funny that this topic pops up every year and all the answers are the same, mine included. Sorry.

Don't get me going on that lol

Yet pop a couple AA in an Xbox pad and it last dozens of hours. To the point I will think to myself "you aint dead yet?"

I'd rather have rechargeable myself, but if my Razer can manage 20+ hours then there is no reason DualSense can't do at least half that, imo

It feels nice in the hand, especially the DualSense Edge.

That's about all that I like about it, though. The analog placement, for me, could be better, and we all know the battery life is a joke (especially on the Edge).

As I said in the other thread, FLYDIGI Vader 4 or Switch 2 Pro both place way above it, for me.

I think the Dual Shock 4 had the best comfort for me but the Dual Sense certainly has the better functionality.

Duck Shock 1 thru 3 always felt a bit cramped.

Dual Sense is really cool with awesome tech, but I can't play for extended sessions without a little pain. Series X controller and the Switch 2 Pro controller are much better in this category.

The ergonomics and quality make it probably the best PS controller I ever owned. The haptics in particular are a big difference maker (could go back and forth on the force feedback in the triggers tho)

Battery life is kinda mid though.

Edit: Dualsense is the best due to the games that support its features imho. It can be a big part of the games that use it, improving those games.

I used lots of controllers over the years, still using 3 different controllers right now. It is my GOAT as well. Aside from haptic feedbacks (which are fantastic) I love symmetrical analogues and the feeling of buttons. Maaan those satisfying buttons feeling when they pushed.

I'm not a Sony fan anymore but I love Dualsense. Best among best.

Love the Dualsense so much I begrudgingly bent over for the Edge cause for me back buttons are required. Fast forward to today and I'm addicted to its premium feel and now all other controllers feel inferior.

When developers use the Sony API you get some neat options from the settings. For example here's the setup screen for the left back button on Ghost of Tsushima. All the actions are listed by name so no more guessing to what the mapping is.
