The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered is Available Today on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Game Pass

Any word on PC performance yet?

Both CDKeys and fanatical have this for decent enough prices, just want to make sure there's nothing crazy to worry about.
RTX 5080, 9800x3d. Everything maxed, this includes ray tracing and dlss performance @ 4k I was getting about 100ish fps inside, and it dropped to about 60-70 once outside.

Looks better than I expected.
Not a day 1 purchase but I'll put it on the wishlist for when it's on sale.

This being a big open world UE5 game I'd go with the pro because it will likely look/run like crap on base systems if you go with performance mode (assuming there even is one).
It says 60 fps on the Xbox website.

Fuxkkk why isn't it showing up on the store

I don't think Bethesda's games have aged well over the years, but I will say I am pretty interested in trying the Oblivion Remaster. I loved Oblivion. More than Skyrim even.

Is there going to be a physical version or only digital?

"Improved enemy level scaling"

Oh so there's still enemy level scaling. I'll take a pass and keep my preorder for Expedition 33 and play that this weekend instead.

Combat is staying somewhat true to the original but the hot reaction and weight make it 10x better. Also better than avowed.

Ya i still think the remaster/remake looks good overall. The graphics and art direction remain intact and i love the updated visuals and some of the quality of life improvements they added as well 'they focused heavily on sprinting lol'. I guess it'd be impossible to improve the combat too much and some of the animations like swimming.

Surely I can't be the only person who mentions this, but the site has ran like shit today and I'm not going back to read everything:

If you've already played Oblivion, but haven't played KCD2 yet, I think you are doing yourself a gaming disservice if you purchase this instead of KCD2.

Seems like a better deal than TLOU part one for $70.

I think $50 is a great price for a remake, but I think full price is fair for a remake too.

This is not a simple thing, its not cheap either, they might call it a "remaster" but Elder Scrolls is very much what we call a remake and they easily could have charged 70 and I'd have no issue paying that day 1.

I have no issue with either pricing tbh, no remake has any ode to be cheaper, you are still talking about a game made from the ground up, thats like thinking re doing a whole movie with a new cast 20 years later magically would be cheaper and faster or something odd like this, all the things that make that cost go up, still exist in that production. So I'm fine with the price point of Elder Scrolls, but that doesn't mean anything was wrong with The Last Of Us 1 remake or Dead Space or Demon Souls or Resident Evil 2 or FFVII remake charging full price.

They are still games that are made from the ground up that have real budgets and took real time to create.

BigBeauford BigBeauford lolz, ahhhhh nah I'm good.

I'll get KCD2 used some time next year. Too many better games released and, bad luck for them I guess.

AC Shadows, Bravely Default remaster, this Oblivion remake, shit even the rumor of Persona 4 remake, Mafia prequel, MGS3 remake,.....sir, they are cooked lol GTAVI doesn't even need to release and I can safely say they are cooked...

The swimming.Isn't that just retarded naming though? It's remade using a new engine and assets.

Ya it's a remake essentially in all but name. The only things they didn't touch too much it seems like are the combat animations, swimming, etc. I feel like alot of the animations remain untouched but everything surrounding them has been remade from the ground up.

I agree, was just pointing out that other reamkes charge the same, if not more. I think this a fair price, its not just the graphics they have improved as well.

Looking forward to diving in after dinner, I've not played it since the OG 360 release.

What's with the shader comp at the start?
At first it maxed out my CPU then it just tickles slowly at like 10% load... taking forever.

Any word on creation kit mods?

And hopefully they could easily do 70 full price and still be extremely fair. I'll be getting the deluxe edition.

Going to wait for reviews and performance analysis before I jump in (on PC, because cheaper), though I am tempted to get it right now.

Best I can do right now is wishlist. Not surprised they switched to body types over sex. Better than pronouns at least. A small win. I will likely grab it at some point on sale. I did like the world of Oblivion more than Skyrim with the more fleshed out cities, where I had a blast looting. I would love a Morrowind Remake/Remaster. It would be nice if they reduced the occurrence of Oblivion gates. It got to be ridiculous in the original to the point where I used a mod to tone it down.

Steam Deck verified and RTX 2080 recommended, I think it will be ok. I can't play before tomorrow night anyway so I'll check that as well.

You ignored Dragon Quest 3 HD for the same reason (among others of course). Stick to your guns and vote with your wallet. It's very respectable.
That one was for all the other reasons! I've never skipped a game for the body type stuff alone. Sure it's a dumb as hell thing to have in the game but whatever, a very minor evil compared to actual censorship or racists working on the game.

But yeah if I had known earlier I might have waited for a deep sale or something.

I don't know about other regions but Xbox PC GamePass 14 day trial for €1 here (If you haven't been signed up before). I had but its worth €12, If I enjoy it as much as I think I will I'll just buy a full copy.

Cool, I was always pushed back by Skyrim ugly graphics and art direction, I don't feel the same with this one so I'll finally give TES a chance

I have a 3060 but should run fine. I've been playing Skyrim at 4k ultra/60fps. I never played the original, I have Morrowind but never played that either.

I wish I was you, discovering Oblivion for the first time, you are on for a treat. I just hope the leveling issue is fixed.

Even Morrowind had Level Scaling, honestly I'd be happy if the AI didn't equip from higher tier Item pool but increased some in health or damage (preferably damage). But we shall see

Could've played on Game Pass, but I bought the deluxe on Steam, no regrets. Looks phenomenal!

50 effin' $? The sheer audacity to charge this much for the worst game in the series by country mile 20 yrs later...

This love an care should've been put into Morrowind Remake instead.

To be fair, there are many that think Morrowind is superior. However, Oblivion sold better than Morrowind did. 9.5 million vs 4 million. I'd love to see Morrowind get the same treatment, but it's understandable why Oblivion got it first.

Seems good at first glance over 100 fps everything ultra. DLSS quality. No stutter so far but only tested the initial dungeon scene.

Man, I was ready to press on the "buy" button but then I remembered Ninja Gaiden 2 black which was also shadow dropped a few months back (still the worst 50 Euros i spent this year).

I ain't buying it until i know for sure that A) it runs well and the framerate doesn't shit the bed as soon you go out in the open or there's more than 2 enemies on screen, B) there's no crashes to dashboard, C) weird graphical bugs or otherwise, D) It doesn't look like someone smeared Vaseline on the screen when you play it on a 55 inch TV (UE5), E) they actually put some work on the PS5 Pro version in the form of better resolution, FX or what have you.

I could use a medieval, immersive fix right now but between Khazan, Silent hill 2 remake and the fact that I got burnt badly with the last shadow drop i think I'm gonna wait on this one...

They mentioned leveling in the video. I'm interested in how it's been done.
