Yeah I got tired of the console version, and I'm just getting the pc version once the gaming pc I bought arrives.

Sick of how broken technically the console versions are.

Pretty much the only reason I haven't played in awhile. I really like the game but the performance is just awful. Seems every patch just makes it worse.

I'm sadly not in a position to do this, Macbook Pro and Intel Iris, do characters swap over or locked to platform?

I'm still holding out hope that today's PS4/XB1 maintenance is for a patch that fixes the bugs DB introduced.

EDIT: Never mind, just read on the official forums that the next console incremental patch is still "a few weeks" away. Dammit.

Locked to platform, sadly.

I like ESO, and I have a nice PC, but I bought it on PS4 because of the lack of controller support on the PC version. Now that they've finally patched that in I'm tempted to jump to the PC but that would require me to start over from scratch on my characters and rebuy the DLC. It's just not worth it. I haven't played the PS4 version lately but I hope it's not totally broken (and I mean for real, not just jank and framerate hitching that some people consider game-breakers. I can tolerate that sort of thing better than many GAF users). I play it as a totally solo experience so the issues with the queues and such are of no concern to me.

I just saw this as well, and after bitching to high heaven that they weren't saying anything about it, lol! I guess I should learn to look for sticky topics. The console certification process is apparently what is holding it up.. but I guess they said that if they can find any on the fly hotfixes, that they will implement, but I'm not holding my breath for that fast of a solution. I mean, this truly sucks, but at least it's now prevalent enough that their entire playerbase seems to be making noise about it, they really have no choice but to fix this asap or face a barren wasteland of a game in the future.

Being fair I guess as I'm still levelling up in the lower areas I've not really experienced anything game breaking, plus I don't read the forums so wouldn't be aware of them either.

I got fed-up and grabbed it on Steam during the sale (only $20). Gotta say, it's night and day. So refreshing to not have constant stops and stutters. Population seems really good so far as well.

Does Gaf have an xbox one clan?

Edit:

So I think I ran into a bugged quest called Buried In The Past. It won't let let me open the lockbox to get the puzzle piece. Anyone know of this quest and is it working for you?

Absolutely loving DK Tank so far. I'm doing the class even for leveling and I just level everything, so much protection + self buffs that I'm barely losing any HP, even against elites.

I'm using add-ons to track gear that can extract traits as when I played on PS4 I made the mistake of never doing that which hurt me for crafted gear. Should I be making gear as I level? So far everything I've gotten from quests has been more than adequate and I'm leveling pretty quickly.

Ugh 16gb patch!?

Ran into that glitch on ps4, as well as a couple others, in that zone a few days ago.

PS4 patch didn't do anything to fix the longer load times introduced with the DB patch, or the slow-loading NPCs (it's especially bad in Rawl'kha).

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
interested in the PS4 version of this

what does the total package (digital game + all dlc) cost? is it worth buying it now or waiting for the Gold Edition?

So i'm level 33 currently, and just finished all the quests in Eastmarch and am moving into The Rift but quests are around level 38. I'm not really struggling with them, but i feel like i'm pretty under leveled for the area. Perhaps this is normal though. Dungeon queue timers still seem to be over an hour even post patch and honestly the performance feels even worse.

You sure you finished everything in Eastmarch first? I tend to be underleveled too so I go check out every empy area on the map before I move on. Almost always find a quest or two I missed.

So last night, I finally beat the main story on my first ever playthrough on my first ever MMO (ESO).
So now, back at the harborage, Caldwell made mention that if I accept the gift, I will no longer be recognized as a hero, and some other blahbitty blah blah. If I “do it”, does that mean that my existing quests will disappear, and that I can’t do anything in my starting faction? Or does it just open the game up more…?

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
I've been purposely avoiding ESO, but I just started Skyrim and it's got me curious, so I hope you guys have time for a question from the uninitiated.

The one thing I wonder about is the size of Tamriel. I remember reading that for Vvardenfel in Morrowind that the developers tried to keep everything at 1/10 scale, and even then Morrowind was a huge game. I put in hundreds of hours and never saw everything, got everywhere, met everyone, or did everything. I'd assumed the scale was the same for Oblivion and Skyrim, and I recall doubts from the community that all of Tamriel would ever be put into a single 3D game.

It seems like a game like this couldn't possible have all of Tamriel in it, even at something smaller than 1/10 scale, so how does the size of the world compare to the last few games?

That said though, if this game does half as well as WoW, I'd assume that Tamriel's size would give nearly infinite room to grow, so have the devs established how game world expansion works?

Just opens the game up more.

Picked up for the PS4 a few days ago, and the game is very enjoyable so far.

The only problem I am having is the dreaded inventory management. What is safe to sell? What is safe to deconstruct? What things should I not bother picking up? I am ALWAYS 5 or less spots away from being full up and I don't understand how to fix it.

You can increase your carry capacity at bag vendors and at the stables (both are a separate thing) for a max of 200 slots.

You don't lose your character or name if you don't play for a while, right? Haven't played ESO in a very long time, want to get back into it. Each character you create is tied to your gamertag, right? Thanks.

I believe you are correct!

Text chat is live on console now. On PS4 it is big touchpad + options to type (or use a keyboard). You can type /zone to talk to everybody in that region.

Edit: I just tried text chat on PS4, it's full of people spamming and talking about sex.

I wouldn't have it any other way, now it truly feels like an MMO.

Happy to report that all of my issues regarding random loading screens, low framerate, NPCs taking a long time to load in have been fixed with this patch. I won't be spending another dime in the Crown Store for a while but I'm glad that I can actually play and enjoy this game again.

Just picked this up for my X1 and I'm really enjoying it so far (only level 7). It's definitely scratching that Elder Scrolls itch. I was surprised by how much ESO really feels more specifically like "Skyrim Online" than a general catch-all Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim's fingerprints are all over this, from the UI to the gameplay to the overall aesthetic. Which I'm totally cool with as Skyrim is one of my favorite RPGs from the previous gen, if anything it's helped me ease into the game since it already feels really familiar.

The performance...isn't great, at least on Xbox One. The game seems to be struggling to hold onto 30 fps most of the time. Thankfully it's not so bad that it's hindering my enjoyment or anything. I'm crossing my fingers that ESO gets a patch down the road to improve it's performance for Scorpio and Neo.

I started off with a Templar since the "holy warrior" has always been my favorite RPG archetype, and that seems to have been a good way to go. I'm still getting used to the skill progression system and "morphing" abilities but thankfully the game does a decent job at teaching you it's more MMO-ish mechanics. I also like that the game (appears to be?) is fully voiced - that was something I didn't expect.

Okay - big news. These changes are coming to console soon(tm) - I think September.

"With One Tamriel, the game content in ESO will no longer be gated by your character's level. Right out of the tutorial you'll have the freedom to go anywhere in Tamriel and play any content, in any order, just like other Elder Scrolls games. Our unique battle-leveling system will automatically scale and balance your character to the content, no matter where you go!

Finding or forming a group will be easier than ever since we're also lifting the alliance restrictions in open world zones. (Of course, PvP areas will still be alliance-based.) This means you'll be able to group with anyone, from any alliance, at any time. High-level players will even be able to group with friends who are new to ESO; anyone below Champion 160 will scale so everyone can adventure together. If you prefer to adventure alone, that's ok too. Every zone has been modified to add world bosses and ensure a mixture of content for solo and group play is available, and all of our dungeons now offer both Normal and Veteran modes, so there will always be something for you, no matter what your play style might be!"

Looking forward to resources being properly leveled with my character too.

Also,

Craglorn, which was originally introduced in 2014 as a group-focused Adventure Zone, is being re-designed so it will no longer require a group to play. Now you'll find that all the main story quests can be completed solo, and the remaining group content can be completed with as little as two players. We want to make sure you can have fun in the zone by yourself, but if you choose, it's also your go-to destination for exciting group content!

Yay!

THIS will get me back in the game. It will kind of kill any sense of progression, but at the same time, I feel like there was a big wall in that sense around lvl 15 to begin with. I'm glad that I'll be able to play all the content the game has to offer like I would Skyrim or Oblivion now without any grinding. Very excited for this.

Very excited for the Fall! Got back into the swing of things on Monday night - so glad to be able to play the game without any weird slow-loading NPCs or major framerate dips! :D
