Anyone can recommend a best looking graphical mods package for i5-4670k@4.5 + 780 OC'ed? With all the order in which they have to be installed etc.
Last time I've tried it (about 3 months ago, on i5-750@3.6+r9 290) it still looked crappy.
I really like depth of field in screenshots but I can't stand it during gameplay, at least the settings I have tried. Anyone else feels the same way?
Gotta agree with Thorgal, luckily it's so easy to turn off now thanks to the ENB's GUI.I really like depth of field in screenshots but I can't stand it during gameplay, at least the settings I have tried. Anyone else feels the same way?

Ok have finally finished modding and started playing! Thanks to all for answering my noob questions this past week, has helped a lot. Will grab a list of my final mods and post here tomorrow in case of any use.

Yeah, thats what we all say

I've been getting CTDs on particular cells recently. Dragontooth Crater, the cell around Miraak's Temple(which pretty much stifled my progress on that DLC), and more recently, the beginning portion of Frostmere Crypt(trying to get back to it from Frostmere Depths causes it to crash on me). I've used TES5Edit, updated mods, even un-installed some likely suspects, and I still have no idea what's causing it.
Hope I don't have to start a new game. :/
[EDIT] - Went back to an earlier save and managed to get through Frostmere Crypt without a CTD, but Dragontooth Crater's still a no-go. Going to check Miraak's Temple again later..
Is there a mod out there that simply adds a replenishable waterskin to the game?
Doesn't Realistic Needs have that ? or do you want ONLY that ?

Doesn't Realistic Needs have that ? or do you want ONLY that ?
Also I've been checking animation mods, and found some good ones, but can someone explain what FNIS is supposed to be, and do ? because I read the mod's description, and I still don't have a clue.

Don't know where else to put this: http://www.twitch.tv/joshandjayshow
I thought it was too good to be true with all these mods... have been playing for about 25 hours now since modding the hell out of my Skyrim, during gameplay it is ROCK SOLID, I have not had one single crash whilst roaming around, looting dungeons, exploring cities. I can play for hours and hours with no freezes or crashes etc. I have the latest SKSE memory fix enabled (ie the new one that doubles the initial memory block allocation to 512mb), which appears to be working great.
However, quite frequently when I attempt to save game, it will instantly CTD. Not always, but maybe, 50% of the time... which obviously is like playing Russian Roulette everytime I want to make a manual save. Autosaves seem to have the same issue, thus I have disabled them for the time being.
Being fairly technically minded, I have already tried enabling Papyrus logging, to see if there is a common script that is running just before saving that might be the issue, alas I can't see any consistency to the logs just before save crash. AFAIK, that is the only sort of logs we can actually enable for Skyrim, it doesn't have a proper crash log/stack trace right?
Other possibly relevant info:
- I have plenty of free system RAM whilst playing.
- my video card IS normally completely maxed out VRAM wise (780Ti 3Gb), but this never seems to cause any crashes during normal gameplay, just a bit of stuttering now and then, so I don't see why it would cause a crash when saving.
Anybody here had any experience of this or similar issue?

Do you have clear invalid registrations enabled for SKSE? If not open up Skyrim/Data/SKSE/SKSE.ini and add the following line:
[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1
If you don't have SKSE.ini (you most likely won't), just create a new text file and rename it to SKSE.ini
This takes some time to take effect as it slowly cleans up your save as you play. Try going to qasmoke via console command :
coc qasmoke
And let the game run for a couple of hours then save. Make sure not to leave it in pause screen or the inventory screen. Do this before you sleep or something.
If you still have the problem, it's time to remove some script heavy mods or OC your cpu. Make sure you read the uninstallation instructions for the mods you're going to remove.
Thanks for the tips, thunder_snail.
I already had the SKSE.ini file (had to create it before to enable the memory block patch). I think I tried running the command ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 from the console once before, but it found 0 invalid registrations to clear. I have added it to the .ini file now anyway, so will see if that helps at all.
I ran the Convenient Horses Latency Test whilst in game, to see if my scripts were taking too long to process, but it reports back well within recommended boundaries (average 50ms).
It's just odd that it only crashes when attempting to save the game, and never actually during the game.
Somebody recommended trying to "double load" your save game when booting up Skyrim, ie load the save file, then go into the menu and load it again. Apparently this can help fix CTD on saving (although I can't see how, might just be a placebo effect).
I'm planning to double dip on Skyrim and buy the PC version just for modding. I did some research the past few days and have some questions
-From what I've read, it seems that I'll need to launch Skyrim through SKSE. However I want the Steam overlay and achievements in my game so is it safe to rename it to SkyrimLauncher and replace the launcher file?
-Can I get Workshop mods and Nexus Mods to work together without causing problems?

NLA enb is truly amazing (60fps!):
Bonus (testing out 2560x1080 resolution):
Alright so I just built a new computer
i5-4670
GTX 760
8gb ram
And I've started to get back into skyrim. I've got a decent amount of mods going as well. The weird thing is that even with this beast of a computer, there are these 1 or 2 second freezes/stuttering that happens from time to time, especially when roaming around the world. Almost like something is loading in or something like that. I don't really feel like I should e having these stutters, so I'm wondering what I can do to solve it. Anyone have any experience with this?
Also what's a good starter ENB?
Most likely those stutters happen when you leave one game cell and enter another .
Every Enb is installed the same way so take the one you like the most .
If you want one that is not very performance heavy you can try the enb posted above or Realvisions enb performance version altough the latter requires certain mods to look right .
Thanks.
So is there anyway to reduce the stuttering as I change game cells?
Are you using Many high res textures in your game ?
The game has to load those textures when you change cells so if you have multiple high res (2K +) The stutter can take longer .
So the solution is to either remove some textures or change to a lower res one .
The general rule is 1K textures for exteriors and 2K or higher for interiors .
Also make sure you are not hitting your V-ram cap.
Not sure if that would work but it might not be just a placebo. Skyrim's weird. For example, when you have trouble loading your saves, the easiest way to get around it is to do coc qasmoke at the main menu and then load the game. Works all the time.
ClearInvalidRegistration is something that runs constantly in the background. I'm not sure running it once on the console is good enough. It doesn't impact performance since it only runs when your CPU is not busy.
Check the size of your save files. With ClearInvalidRegistration running all the time on my machine, my save file size is still around 9.5 mb with my char at level 30.
Don't replace your SkyrimLauncher. You still get steam overlays and achievement through SKSE. SKSE actually launches Skyrim.exe but with it's own dll hooked to it so you are actually running the Steam's Skyrim.exe when you use SKSE.
Workshop mods and Nexus Mods work fine together. Just use Nexus Mod Manager to sort out your load order.
Also I'd recommend Mod Organizer over NMM if you don't plan on running Creation Kit in the future for your own mod making however.
Well, I have tried all the suggestions thus far and my game is still randomly CTD on save. I guess it's going to be one of the following:
- start a fresh save from the beginning
- un-install mods one-by-one and keep checking to see if the problem goes away. But this might cause more problems than it solves I reckon.
What's REALLY annoying is that I was very careful this time to follow all the recommended instructions, using BOSS, TESVEdit for cleaning, compatible mods only, etc.
Bah. I think I might just give up and play something else again.
It might be the save bug. I've had the game crash on me while saving before.
This fixed it for me:
1. Load an older save (as long as it doesn't have CTD on save glitch, then load it)
2. Create a NEW save (through pause menu)
3. Type in console command player.kill
4. Load your latest save (the one that had CTD glitch)
5. Type in console command player.kill
6. Try saving (I usually just use quicksave)
Thanks Blue Ninja, I tried that already, didn't help sadly. I think I am 'just' going to start a brand new game, goodbye 25 hours I spent last week playing! lol
If it makes you feel any better, I got pissed off and nuked everything on Sunday. I'll try again in a few months. When I spend more time adjusting the game than playing the game, the thrill is gone.
So I have been keeping a close watch on my save game filesize since restarting the game again 2 days ago.
I made my first save in Riverwood, at which point it was approx 6Mb.
After 2 days of play (roughly 12 hours, have a house, a couple of followers, some new gear, have just started the first Greybeards quest), my save file is now at 9.5Mb.
I know a lot of people say "start to worry when your save file hits between 15-25mb", which at my current rate, I am probably going to hit within a week.
Does this look normal for a heavily modded Skyrim to you guys (114 mods active)?
I have been very careful with my mod selection, use BOSS to order them correctly, and have the SKSE ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 config value set already.
I know the save file will grow as I play obviously, it has to keep track of everything that changes/moves etc. But not sure if mine seems to be growing too fast or not, possibly indicating a problem somewhere.
T
Looks normal to me. I have fewer mods active (Main mods being Requiem, Convenient Horses, iNeed and Amazing Follower Tweaks) and I'm at 10.5 mb with my character at level 35. That's a long playthrough as well since I don't fast travel and level up characters in Requiem takes more time.

	No compass is best compass.
You can still use a map when you need to.The game is not balanced for no compass. Some descriptions can be really vague.
