The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

Did the CK just get an update?

Trying to clean up Breezehome. No reason it should have hay and cob webs everywhere. A nice bed would also be good.

Ah, player storage, I see that now, thank you.

As for a keep and so forth. They will most likely have all the associated pathing, and so forth within them. That needs to be cleaned out if you want to make a copy. That also means cleaning out the refrences to ownership for all the decorations(clutter). Which is probably why most people make their own castle from scratch or at the very least keep the copying to a small amount. Either way is time consuming for various reasons.

I noticed this. Not a simple 'drag and drop' bam, you have a keep. Also, I can't even figure out how to be able to place a certain building within the world. I'll have to wait for those tutorials. Then again I'm just happy I was able to edit something and add an extra storage container and a workbench.

Yes, it updated for me as well a moment ago.

Question about modifying a purchased home. When I open it up in the CK, it opens with all the options purchased. If I make changes to an optional upgraded room in say, Breezehome, will those saved changes show up when I purchase said upgrade? Or will they show up even if I just bought the house without the upgrades?

Yes, it did.
Cool thanks.

Not sure haha.

I'm a total noob. Hope I don't break anything.

Just released my first mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=8688

There is another mod I saw that adds a door to the ragged flagon but the entrance is out in the open, so I made this to have the door in the crypt instead. Also That sliding tomb thing was bugging me all throughout my thieves guild play through so I moved the exit marker thing out of the crypt so you don't have to wait for it to slide shut and open again.

A neat mod and actually something I find useful. Will try later.

FYI. I had the exact same issue. I would advice posting on nexus or bethesda help forums and watching their growing tutorials section. Adding a home and then knowing how to drop it into the world took me more time than making either bit. Basically you have to drag the cell(home) into the wilderness cell you want it in. Then you have to add a doorway logic to make the outside world connect with the inside cell of the building.

Adding to that difficulty is that they have copies of some cells because as the story in the game continues massive changes occur to the cell. So you may have 1 with a building looking fine and then next with it having a ton of changes. It took me over 2 hours to figure out what they were doing and to make sure I didn't put it into the wrong version of the cell. UHG!

Here's a better video with sound and no lag:

I WILL GIVE YOU SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS BETHESDA.... WHY IS THIS NOT IN THE GAME... GIVE ME SEASON STAT!!!!!

GIVE ME TREES THAT REACT TO GIANTS RUNNING PAST.

LET ME CAUSE A FIRE IN A FOREST A BURN THE WHOLE FRAKKIN THING DOWN.

Oh My God.

I see great things in Skyrim's future after seeing this.

Anyone having there game crash after the high res texture pack?

My game is crashing a LOT at the moment but I am yet to figure out the cause :/

I'm going to fuck off the HD texture pack this morning because that seems to be the main thing that I changed yesterday (other than lowering uGrids and adding Weapons / Armor mods and they shouldn't make the game crash so much).

I've also got Open Cities so I've got to try and remove that I think. I will also be trying the game with uGrids back up at 9 again.

Drag things from the object list into the render window to place them in the world, then you would create a new interior cell (or cells), and connect inside and outside with loading points.

As for the objects in the home, they're all likely controlled by scripts that enable them when purchased (they are set to disabled by default, but you still see them in the CK), so you would give each object you add a unique RefID and then add that to the list of objects enabled in the script.

Everyone should get the Ignite The World.

Really adds to the game. The fire lights up the place and behaves far more realistically.

I just searched for it on the Nexus and could not find anything.

Fuck, it will really suck if mods start to get posted on Steam with higher priority than the Nexus.

I would have thought that the Nexus would still be the first place for updates and such, and that the mods would be posted to Steam once the Mod has been updated a few times to be of an acceptable level of quality for the masses.

Here's a link.

Can definitely see Steam being the main dog.

So many stupid comments though. How many people have to ask "where's the download button"?

edit: Another problem with the Workshop is the updates method. When you get a load of mods, waiting to check for updates is going to be a huge pain. There should be a section that lets you see updates and lets you manually download them.

I could totally see steam being the main one. Kind of sucks because I've supported the nexus so long. Im also seeing some mods that aren't popping up on th nexus which is expected with how easy it is for the workshop.

It also sucks having to deal with 2 launchers to see if the mods are up to date and to use script extender. Oh well.

Here you go: http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_World_Hookup

You just load the cell of the world you want to add your building in and add it like you would any other object. Then you just need to hook up your doors so you can walk in and out. The more complicated thing is modifying the NavMesh for the actual world, you have to make it so NPCs don't think they can walk through where you placed your keep so they don't glitch out. You can just do what they do in that tutorial though and find a spot of the world off to the side where the NavMesh is already cleared (like the side of a mountain).

Why does the space core mod download every time I launch Skyrim??

edit: seems to randomly download other mods too.

Guys... here is Dagger Craft on the Nexus - this is such a good pack of Daggers, they looks SO GOOD in the game... seriously.

If you want to have a dagger to carry around for that cool sneak attack this is a must, these all look so awesome.

I'm not usually a fan of fancy smancy weapons like this, but when it comes to daggers, it suits...

Warglaive of Azzinoth

Some people might remember that Cleric Armor that I used to have my character wearing... I've been going for the more 'Barbarian' look lately, but THIS is an amazing re-work of it. Check it out. Most wont like the fact that it replaces the Ebony armor... well, here is a Craftable version for you to overwrite this one with.

Here is a cool few swords - Dragon Blade, Two Swords Cross on Back (this is really just a visual thing because you can only draw on) and Three Swords on Back - Nodachi (Two Handed Katana), Katana and Tanto. Looks cool.

Frostmorne now comes with the Lich King armor. Crazy. I love having thousands of armor options and I love displaying it all in my Dovahkiin Hideout, but I realised that the game doesn't like it because it has to load all of those textures into RAM all at once. Yesterday the game crashed and it was up to 3.7 Gb of RAM. So I'm probably going to cut down on the amount of things I have out on display at once I think... Even still, I like having just thousands of options.

Weapons of Oblivion - keep an eye on this one, it's going to be adding more over time.

LOL, Bucket, Kettle or Basket Helmet Mod, funny shit.

Also - why isn't there more choice in this game? Why can I only JOIN the thieves guild and bring them up to glory again? Why can't I go against them and destroy them again? I didn't like that I didn't have the option to infiltrate them and then help them rise up and then at the last moment or at any moment betray them and put them down. Though I must say it's really cool as you rise in the ranks and everyone's like "oh hey you're alright". I also don't like Maven Black-Briar and I wish I had the option of turning on her as well like you often do in other quests, but I haven't got very far in this quest line yet so I guess there must be some more importance to this. Also this probably isn't supposed to be in this thread, but I assume that the Grelod the Kind quest is the beginning of joining the Dark Brotherhood? I don't want to go and read a Wiki to find out what's going on here because I'll find out too much and spoiler myself - but I would like to know if it's possible to go against the Dark Brotherhood?

I just got up to the bit where I took sides and went to war, OH MY GOD that was so amazing... seriously... SO AMAZING I think probably better than the war scene in Witcher 2, certainly felt more like there was more going on AND a freaking DRAGON rocks up in the middle of the battle... EPIC AS FUCK, although I find it hard to take sides with the side I took... I think that must be the way either way you take because the leaders are both fuck-wits but in general both causes have their merits. I damn well love this game so much.

When I play again - which I kind of feel like doing, and I start my Man character eventually and I play the other side of things, I wonder how much different things can be.

Guys, I am having some problems with steam workshop and its mods.
I tried to download a single mod, the space core one, then launched Skyrim from the Steam interface.
I got greeted by the lower right corner of the launcher trying to download the mod, then after a few second a "failed to download a subscribed file. Steam Error 2" prompt appeared and the mod is not available in the data files list.
I also tried another mod from the workshop, and the same thing happened.
I tried to restart Steam and to launch it with administrator rights, but nothing has changed.
I am using SKSE and Nexus Mod Manager, if this can be useful to know.
Someone has some suggestons?

The SKSE and NMM part is irrelevant to the downloading of the mods.

Steam Error 2 means that the servers are too busy. Try again later.

Not to discourage you ColonialRaptor, but do you regard these types of lore-unfriendly mods as valuable additions to the game? I'm all for funny, ridiculous, and other wacky mods, but I'll disable them or set them aside after a session. They seem to corrupt the experience.

Would I be correct in saying that, if you actually use all these mods you post, you have an anything goes, balance and immersion be damned, approach?

My cleaned up Breezehome mod works nicely.

No more stupid crates, cob webs or hay piles.

However, I want to upgrade the bed to a clean noble one and was wondering what settings I need to make it an owned bed.

Also, does a bed you own show up as My Bed when you aim at it? Or is it just called Bed?

Everytime I launch up the CK and load the datafiles I get a MASTERFILE: NavmeshInfo <garbage> has no parent space, ignoring

error.

What do I do? :/

Look like the new Xenius Character Enhancement update (1.11) only work if you installed the official hi-res texture pack, not sure why Xenius thought it was a good idea.

oh ffs, im trying to FINISH skyrim, it's been 300 hours. Mods aren't helping :O
I think I'll keep modding to a minimum and keep all that for my next playthrough whenever that happens.

I don't necessarily use everything I post, just seem post anything that I like or think others might like. It's very difficult to find mods out there inside all the clutter of utter crap there are a few gems here and there, and of course some of the mods I post are simply being posted for hilarity sake and not being series, but others I am being more serious about. I typically try to point out the ones that I feel are more important, like the spells give off light one, I don't see how that affects lore at all? It's basically something that I felt has been missing from the game from the beginning. Just trying to do my part to help fellow Gaffers find mods and since I spend so much time trawling the mods I just post anything that I feel might interest people when I find them whether I use them or not.

I personally do care quite a bit about the 'lore' of the Elder Scrolls - to an extent. Like, I like using the LOTR swords simply because the guy who made them did a freaking good job on them and they are the best looking sword mods out there right now - not because they are LOTR swords and not being they have anything to do with the lore, just because they look good. I also love all types of weapons and armor if they are fun and look cool. Dunno why I've just become obsessed with seeing how cool the different types of weapons and armor can look while playing the game.

Basically this. I'm a mega graphics whore, if it looks good, I'll have it. I've spent thousands of dollars on my PC and I'm pretty much a loser with no friends and this is all I do so I gotta get my kicks somehow

Here is a cool one - Skyrim Scary Monster Makeover, don't use them all but the Dragon Priest, Draugr, Hagraven and Spiders all look pretty awesome.

On that note, here are some recent screens from my game (there's a lot so I made them small):

I agree - for all intents and purposes the Bethesda HD Texture Pack SUCKS, in fact with all my testing this morning I'm done with it, it's gone, I'm deleting it and it's never coming back, so this is a bad idea... I don't know why he'd do that.

Thing is - if you've got his old packs, you're all right, just install the old one and then just copy the files from the new ones over the top, shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Wanted this for ages also - Magic Arrows

These screen shots are really incredible! What kind of mods did you use? can u pls make a list for us simple mortals hehehe! Thanks!

Where's my real rain mod?

The rain right now is complete crap.

Ask and you shall receive.

More Rain

It's brand new, and it's good.

Heh... dude I have like 300 mods :/

Edit - also if you want the same mod (but for snow) here is the Snow version

Edit 2 - this is HILARIOUS, Staff of Gems turns enemies into 5 of each type of Gem with a puff of red smoke, hilarious!

I'm gonna try out that more rain mod as well. Any comments on this version:

"MoreRainHeavyandDarker - Adds More Rain, Wind, Fog and the view distance is decreased by 80 percent"

I might just stick with this one:

"MoreRainWindy - Adds More Rain and WindFX at Rainstorms"

I just installed SkyUI via the Steam Workshop and it doesn't work. I have the newest SKSE and I launch the game with the SKSE loader. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Never mid, I just had to activate the .esp, is there any reason why I can't click on Data Files in the launcher?

Has anyone seen any fixes for major performance issues with the high-res DLC?

Seriously, it's unplayable.

If not, how do I uninstall it?

I dropped a few settings one notch and it seemed to fix it on my end (basically like distance fades on lighting and grass) atleast it worked in Solitude...

I'm going to use More Rain Windy 30% less visual for starters :)

Personally, I've been downloading everything I can off the nexus - if it's available on the nexus I get it there, but there is so much going on the Workshop and not on the Nexus it makes me sad :(

Teleporter I use Jasmins ENB but I've modified it a bit myself - Jasmin's is pretty good at standard though. I would recommend going for that and playing with different Palette's until you find the right look that you like :D

Also - there is one particular setting which I think is the most important with the enbseries.ini file:

SpecularAmountMultiplierDay=4.0
SpecularAmountMultiplierNight=3.0
SpecularPowerMultiplierDay=1.2
SpecularPowerMultiplierNight=1.2
SpecularFromLightDay=0.1
SpecularFromLightNight=0.1

Playing around with these numbers is VERY important for the particular look on your system. These are my current Specular settings, however leave the default Jasmin settings and move them towards what I posted above to try and get them to approach mine.

Here is the link for Jasmin's, choose 'MEDIUM' and make sure you have these lines in your Skyrim.ini

[Camera]
fActorFadeOutLimit=-100
fOverShoulderAddY=0.0000
fOverShoulderPosZ=5.0000
fOverShoulderPosX=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatAddY=0.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosZ=5.0000
fOverShoulderCombatPosX=0.0000

Just read something on the Steam forums that explains why my mods were re downloading.

If you edit the load order or anything similar (i.e. use NMM), Steam thinks there's an update and re downloads everything. At least for me.

Agreed. That and the updates system are the worst things.

Here are two shots of two different mods (Bigger Giants and Sticking Arrows. I think that's what it's called).

Only downside with the arrows mod is the hit detection is odd. When you shoot in some areas the arrow sometimes jumps and sticks next to another arrow.

Are you guys using the realistic force/ragdolls mod?

I am, it's pretty good things just don't fly away when you hit them hard, Fus Roh Da is still the same though if you're wondering.

I don't know what just happened, this morning I was playing perfectly fine, now I'm getting sudden slow downs and a persistent CTD near Whiterun :(

Going to sort out a few mods and see what's the problem hope it's not the save.

Awesome.

Cliff Racers VS Dragons, having account that they drove Dragons from Morrrowind this is bound to be EPIC.
