Did you end up trying that Breezehome mod? I tried it but I'm having a pretty big issue with it. I buy it, enter, but once I exit Breezehome I can't open any other doors. Doors animate like they're opening but nothing happens :/

I did, it works alright for me, not sure I prefer it over Bert's though. Sounds like you have a mod conflict with two mods modifying the same cells. BOSS may remedy that, but I doubt it. Do you have two mods that modify breezehome? You can post your load order, or sometimes if you load everything into Tes5edit or Wyre Bash it will tell you where the conflict is.

You've kinda got it the wrong way around, ENB doesn't touch textures or models, but certain presets will conflict with lighting plugins like Realistic Lighting Overhaul and Climates of Tamriel. For starters, you wouldn't use those two together, as they'll probably conflict. Looking at the Somber ENB page now, it mentions that it shouldn't be used with mods like Enhanced Lights and FX or Realistic LIghting Overhaul.

I'll go over those categories again:
- Assets such as models and textures. These either replace or expand content from the original game.
- Lighting, weather and effect plugins (esp's). These modify the original game's values to change its appearance.
- ENB and postprocess injectors. Instead of changing what's actually going on in the game, these modify the renderer with purely visual results.

Mods from the first category can conflict with/overwrite one another, but generally have no problems with mods from the other two categories. Mods from the second and third categories will conflict with mods in either of those two categories, unless they are specifically designed not to. For example, certain ENB settings may look like trash with Realistic Lighting Overhaul or Climates of Tamriel enabled, but fine without it whereas for others the opposite may be the case.

List looks pretty good, if you follow the steps in my previous post regarding stuff like CoT and RLO conflicting with ENB it should be fine. Textures is somewhat personal preference, the big ones (I think, haven't played it in a while and the installation is a mess) I'm currently using are Project Parallax, Realistic Water Two, Skyrim Realistic Texture Overhaul, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, HD Detailed Terrain and a bunch of the Vivid Landscape ones.

Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Lighting Overhaul and Enhanced Lighting and FX all have certain effects of lighting. But when you install them, they have menus. So for Climates of Tamriel all you want is the weather and outdoors stuff. RLO or ELFX will handle interiors and lighting. COT and either ELFX or RLO work together, but RLO and ELFX don't work together. Also most ENB presets come with options for both. RealVision being the notable example here, you just download whichever file suits you.

As far as Lighting is concerned check out Gopher's videos, he covers the subject in depth:

Looks like something replaced the header images in the journal, and part of the galactic sky they use for the skills menu... You got any mods that might have something to do with that?

It's SkyUI, but it's the graphical glitch I'm concerned with. I don't think it's caused by SkyUI, it's an extremely popular mod and others would have seen this.

A long time ago I setup my Skyrim game using STEP with a bunch of other mods. It took days to do it and was fairly boring as hell. The game looked really pretty but would just crash so I kind of gave up. That and I realized the combat still sucked and creating "teh sexy companions" had no real point.

I might try and get back to it at some point. I remember the STEP guys trying to get an automated process going, but I don't know where that went.

It's an FPS, hard to say the combat is bad. If it is, then every FPS ever made has been bad.

First Person Swordplay, First Person Spellslinger, First Person Slasher, First Person Shooter w/ Bow

That's really the barrier that most people have to STEP. It doesn't seem important enough to bother with until it becomes automated.

I figured it out, it was a compatibility issue with Open Cities.

So the Draugr eye glitch...

1024x578.resizedimage

...I realize it's supposed to be fairly common, but I never got it once in the years I played on consoles. I put hundreds of hours into this game since 2011 and the first time I ever got it was when I started playing on PC. Is there a mod that's known to dramatically increase the chances of this bug occurring? It's easy enough to fix (usually), but there are other similar bugs I've encounterd that aren't easily fixed with the console. In the few weeks I've been playing on PC I've gotten the Draugr eye, Spriggan insects buzzing around my face, and Wispmother mist - the last of which I wasn't able to cure. Had to reload to an earlier save and lose some progress.

I found a fix for the wispmother. Just google it. You have to download some new replacement shaders, then load and disable through console.

It was a pain in the ass though.

I decided to fire this game up again last week and my power supply died. Lol.

Huh, I've never encountered any of those, and I've played for hundreds of hours as well. Didn't even know those were a thing. You using any mods that change races or something?

That said, I'm usually pretty lucky when it comes to glitches and TES games, dunno why.

I'm using Character Creation Overhaul and Skyre's race module currently, but I've encountered these bugs without using either. Yeah, I had no idea it was a thing for the longest time. Draugr eye is the most common and fortunately the easiest to fix. Wisp mother fog is a pain in the ass, though.

This Climates of Tamriel is pretty awesome.

Was out hunting in the woods, it started to rain and this loud thunder went off, scared the shit out of me. :D

Cross-posting in OT and mod discussion...

RRMtQfg.jpg

Anyone lose this texture before? I think it's referred to as "cavesnowtrim" or something to that effect. I have two mods currently active that effect cave textures - Amidianborn caves and 2k dungeons. I've tried uninstalling one or the other, letting each override the other, and uninstalling both but in every instance this particular texture is gone. Any way to fix this, outside of doing a totally clean install?

Got the same issue in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary. I'll try reinstalling SMIM first, because I remember something may have gotten overwritten there.

None of the things you showed in the screens are altered by SkyUI, so no, it's not that.

Skill Interface Retexture does the nebulas and stuff, but that's only the skill screen:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7308/?

The anomaly above mainly happens on the options screen, which SkyUI does change, it puts the MCM menu there. Other than that my Journal screen is vanilla, or at the very least I don't have a mod that changes it.

I believe it's a VRAM issue. I've had some success preventing it by disabling almost all of my 2k textures. It's a sad thing when what's holding a game back isn't the speed and efficiency of the card, but VRAM.

Got a question .

Iam trying to recall a mod that made certain armors more reflective or mirror like .

Anybody know the name of that mod ?

In other news, I tried editing a few character mods in creation kit to make things more to my liking. After about an hour...

Also, I wish Steam had better screenshot management. Having every single screenshot that I've ever taken in a big heap in the content section makes doing any sort of virtual photography rather difficult.

Huh. That's what I clicked on but Nexus said it couldn't find it. Must have been my punishment for staying away too long.

Nice wanted to play Skyrim again but nexus is soooo down i dont know where to look for mods now! Any other sources out there? Thanks!

Can't get over her voice acting.

I found it quite endearing. Except when she shouts in battle and the bad MIC capture couldn't handle the 'actress' shouting. Still it's better then than some of the standard ones, especially the one that sounds like she's just journed to Tamirel from Cheers bar.

Infact hint to Bethseda....use ONLY English and European voices ala Games of Thrones for the next one. And likewise, I've no idea what the cockney thugs hiding in the metro system of Fallout 3 where doing there either...

It depends where they're setting it, though. The scandinavian voices in Skyrim were a great touch, as were the Khajiit sounding almost persian.

If it is that, its no longer on Nexus. No idea what happened.

Thanks guys .

Sadly it seems i get the purple armor glitch with this mod even with the fix installed :(

Reinstalled SMIM, then reinstalled Climates of Tamriel and Enhanced Lighting and FX (with the SMIM files). Didn't work, unfortunately.

Did you install Climates first or SMIM? You need to install Climates first and then make sure you SKIP the interior option. Don't use it it. Then SMIM, then ELFX for your interiors, then the SMIM files for ELFX. Make sure you save in a different space than where the purple texture occurs and save after you pcb.

Install...

Vilja in Skyrim.

Then laugh at the lame companions you get in vanilla 'rim.

Her voice actress is a really awesome person to talk to, but unfortunately the game makes her sound like she has a gob full of marbles. It's really unfortunate. Also...

Shouldn't have read the comments.

Anyway, this exactly is why I got Interesting NPC's.

This.

Is there really a VRAM limit at ~3.1 GB that will prevent how far texture mods will develop in the game?

No, it's a 3.1GB RAM limit, which you won't ever hit if you use ENBoost. Ever. The VRAM limit is 4GB, because Skyrim is a 32-bit application for reasons we probably shouldn't get into and 4GB is all a 32-bit application can see, whether it's RAM or VRAM. I think what you are referring to is the hard crash at 3.1GB, that used to be a problem, but ENBoost fixes it marvelously.

VRAM has it's own separate issues. You can read up on VRAM bursting if you want, but suffice it to say Skyrim's coding is...suspect in certain areas(namely proper event logging) and VRAM bursting is one of the more likely reasons why you will crash.

Hence the reason that if you are going to mod Skyrim VRAM is arguably more important than performance once you pass a certain threshold. For instance I have a GTX780 GHZ edition from Gigabyte, it's the next best thing under a 780ti. I can't run 2k texture packs with armor mods, 3GB's isn't enough. My computer upstairs is a 680 4GB, it runs 2-4k texture packs on nearly everything. It doesn't run at the same fps(It's an impressive overclocker though so the difference is rather small), but it can handle more than the newer card.

Also to the guy that asked earlier, ENB's enhance texture packs like Tamriel Reloaded, there is no conflict. They do two very different things.

Fixed it! Apparently I didn't have the most recent version of SMIM, even though I only just updated all my mods. Not sure if that was the issue, but w/e.

Uninstalled SMIM, BDS, RCI and ELFX. I had forgotten how different the lighting in vanilla Skyrim is.

Reinstalled the mods in the right order, et voila.

Need help with something else .

What is is in your opinion the best perk overhaul mod?

Additional : will i get problems with it if i already got a few perks from the vanilla game ?

SPERG is a pretty safe bet.
Every skill-tree is overhauled and putting together a strong character is really satisfying.
IIRC there are options in the mod for dealing with vanilla perks you've already attained.

Had to deep-six my Skyrim installation. It was an absolute mess and I couldn't even start a new game without a CTD (and that's with all the mods uninstalled!)
Deleted all my saves as well, so when I go back I'll have a clean slate to work with.

Installed Climates afterwards - I'll retry tonight and tell you how it goes.

Is there an easy way to relocate all your mods to a fresh installation? I've never had to do it before but it'd be useful information to know.

Mod Organizer can do it I think, has a few problem with some mods eg. Anything to do with skyproc and the likes and you have to run everything from it since it doesn't install anything to the Skyrim game folders. Its also a little more complicated than nmm

I use SPERG. Overhauls perks pretty well but doesn't conflict with a bunch of other shit like SkyRe, etc.

The Nexus Mod Manager can do it. It keeps backups of every mod in a completely separate folder. Some people swear by doing everything manually though.

I deleted all of mine though. Only one I hung onto was SGhairs 268 because it can be hard to come by.

Recommendations for best unarmed combat mods? Perks, skills, weapons, animations?

There are a few Unarmed-centric skill overhauls, but since new skill-trees can't be created(due to weird Skyrim limitations), they will conflict with a lot of stuff.
For weapons:
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28022/? - Battle claws
Animations:
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44666/? Replaces shield/weapon bashing with kicks. It would take some trickery to work with unarmed though.

Otherwise just do a search for "unarmed" on the Nexus and run with what interests you.

Huh, the link to SPERG is purple for me in Google, implying i've checked it before but... it actually looks decent, unlike other overhauls*, yet i don't remember it looking like that. I presume i've skipped SPERG previously because it requires the stat uncapper and SkyUI, the former being unnecessary and allowing even more god-like characters than the vanilla does, and the latter not being that good as i play on controller (the inventory management is slightly better but not enough for me to get over my general dislike of the mod).
Guess i could try SPERG with that mod that restores default UI but keeps SkyUI config menu.

*
-Requiem is not finished with magic still underway and all the numbers being hidden making it fucking annoying to use
-SkyRe adds stuff i find completely unnecessary. Bloated.
-Others tend to focus on single aspects.

Speaking of SGhairs268 . i have a download link for it .

If you want it , sent me a PM.
