Runs like shit thus far. Even at "high" settings I'm seeing dips into the 30s during the intro sequence. Using a 5870. Any tips? Already tried the d3d9.dll and that didn't do anything.

:\
CPU. This game wants a 5GHZ 2500K or more to maintain 60fps in some towns. Shame, as it doesn't even max out any cores. Hopefully we see some serious optimizations in future patches.

Turn Shadow detail down? Mine was at high, running at 5 fps in the intro. When I changed it to medium, it runs at 60 dipping only a little, high 40s is the lowest it goes most of the time, but not often. on a 4870.

Hey all, was wondering if anyone could help me out with tweaking the ini to get rid of this issue I'm having in the video. basically what's happening as you can see i that the further I am from walls, the brighter they become and when i get closer, they get darker which makes no sense to me; that is backwards. Should be getting brighter as I come closer. Copy of my ini file is in the vid description.

How do I get my FOV to stick?

I have to manually set it in console every time. Annoying.
Really? I think I've set it once whenever I first started the game and it's been the same ever since. You didn't manually set an FOV line in your .ini did you?

Your shadow fade distance is super-short. I would try extending that out a bit.

Set it in your Skyrim.ini:

[General]
fdefaultfov=xx

If I use RadeonPro, do I have to disable CCC? Just curious because I've never used it and not sure what it does to be completely honest. is it something to add to my current driver/ccc install? Or is it a completely different program I install in addition to my video card drviers and catalyst control panel?

The only one that matters

perfect score
ok so is it staying.... I'm not sure but I type fov 90 in and it makes so I see more of my arm/wrist.... it resets to 65 or what ever every-time I load somewhere. I have fov 90 in the ini, and perfs file... got it in the launch options in steam too... WTF How can I make it stay... :(

No no no no no no. This does NOT work.

And people who say it sticks after you type it into the console, NO it doesn't. It resets after loading certain areas.

I'm generally very happy with the performance on my GTX580. I'm getting a pretty solid 60fps in most outdoor locations with a few drops in the 45 range in towns.

The only thing that's irking me so far is the crashes to the desktop. In about 18 hours of play I've crashed maybe 3-4 times which I guess isn't terrible for a Bethesda game but I'm saving constantly just to make sure it doesn't happen at an inopportune time. I tried the audio fix mentioned but the last crash happened afterwards. I've also ready launching the game outside of Steam can help but I haven't tried it and I want my achievements.:(

Also, the purple texture bug is annoying as hell. The game definitely needs a patch to address some of this stuff.

It seems to have the same problem saving control bindings.

I change the mouse buttons to mouse 1 = left hand, mouse 2 = right hand each time I play, as it seems a whole lot more intuitive than the default, which makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

I'm still trying to understand the thought processes of the idiots that let a control ui element like "left mouse button for right hand, right mouse button for left hand" make it all the way through development & testing.

No. Some people never install CCC and just use RadeonPro, however. Not that I would, but some do.

My friend is pretty pissed...he bought the retail game, installed it and Steam keeps telling him the game is currently unavailable...if he starts it via the launcher in his program file, the game starts too big,so he can`t see the new game stuff(menu) on the lower right side and the only way to close it is to CTRL alt del to the task manager and cancel it from there....we tried a bunch of stuff.nothing works...

Any ideas on the currently unavailable message from Steam?

Because on PC, left click is almost always used as your primary attack. I haven't had any problems with it even when switching between mouse and 360 controller. In Oblivion, you blocked with right click even though the shield was in your left hand. Right click is your "off" hand in the same way that your left hand is your "off" hand.

Well, In both Skyrim and Oblivion I've played mainly non-melee mage types, who don't have a primary attack / offhand, they have a left hand and right hand, so having them reversed is all sorts of idiotic.

Left for primary and right for offhand makes more sense to me. You can swap it around anyways...no big deal.

Figured out how to respec

player.removeperk <ID>
player.addperk <ID>

Pretty simple now that I think about it :P
Removeperk actually works?

I actually lost about an hour of playtime due to a perk selection that wound up screwing up my build. That would have really helped!
