And to the Durante post on the last page, I'm trying to find a way to put more detail and descriptions but I don't want to exceed the character limit like in the OP. I've had to cut one redundant section so that's helped. I'm also going to be putting the best mods in the mod section as they come but as you and I know, we've only begun. The best mods are coming for years so that section will definitely be going under a lot of change. I have Kyaw's excellent FXAA Injector guide there, if I get tight, I will link it to his post but I'm not that cramped yet.

I welcome PM's so I can add this stuff to the MOD section. I've only received one ><

I want to make it better but I can't read all the posts every time so I need to be reminded. I'm always looking and still reading things on other forums and sites on how to make the game better.
 
@Kyaw you should upload your version of FXAA (all files, folders and such) and make it easier on people as your settings are pretty good.

Just a thought :P

I thought using this mod was hard but thanks to your amazing guide I decided to give it a shot. It was super easy to get this running, I first copied most of your values but then I reduced most of the color effects by half. The game got an overall increase in quality and I don't see any performance hit. Great stuff, your post has been greatly appreciated :)

Hey for the FXAA injector... it says this on the description:

Version 1.3 Notes
FXAA is permanently disabled with version 1.3 due to instability. (Revised FXAA script provided by Sephious.) If you wish to enable FXAA, either use Skyrim's built-in version or revert to version 1.2.

Can we use your settings with version 1.3 and just enable FXAA in the launcher? I am confused because people were saying to use version 1.2 because FXAA isn't turned on, which doesn't make sense to me since you can just run Bethesda's FXAA.

You can use Bethesda's FXAA but the one in the Injector lets you choose how much you want to blur the edges. I prefer the ability to control the amount of blur.

There hasn't been any stability issues so far for me. (28 hours in of testing/playing)

Hmm, okay. There really isn't much difference between version 1.2 and 1.3 is there? It just feels wrong using the older one haha.

Wait so with your settings I don't need to turn on FXAA? It's bult in, correct? Sorry, confused!
 
What is the best way to smoothen out the edges on the foliage like in Dennis' images? Mine are much more jaggy, even though I use the Nvidia Inspector settings in the OP.
 
The water mod makes the water look better for sure. I went with the HD pack and not the medium since I saw no fps drop, in case some are wondering. I lowered shadows to 3000 to save 3fps as the mod cost me about 5fps but it's worth it. I updated my ini slightly. If these next patches bring performance up, I will definitely be upping the shadows again but I'm about as happy as I could be at this point. Hopefully drivers with performance gains are coming this week as promised (via CatCreator). A couple of pics....

One thing I still stand firm on is 2xSSAA. Unless 8xMSAA is better, there's not going back for now.

The best way in terms of performance/quality tradeoff is transparency multisampling, with 8xMSAA (with transparency multisampling, the effectiveness of the smoothing depends on the degree of general multisampling).

Purely in terms of visuals, disregarding performance supersampling is best.
 
2 more screens to illustrate and repeat some points about my config. And I went with 4xSSAA, hardly a difference in fps, gonna stick with that for sure.

Random shot I liked. As noted a few posts up, pretty game is pretty.

I know this one isn't the SKyrim "welcome to" poster image but the distant details are what I love. Right above my ret, you see the mammoth that you wouldn't see without added distance LOD.

Quick question because I'm an idiot at things like this. Am I supposed to disable FXAA in the Skyrim options when I'm using the FXAA from the injector?
 
Sorry if this sounds so noobish, but do I put in the whole inJFX_Shaders folder in my skyrim directory or do I just put in the individual files in the shaders folder?

I'm not sure it worked for me..... do you have to put int right in the data folder... I have it in Data/Textures.... then I just copy and paste the water and effects folders in. also do you have to set the perfs file to 2048x2048 like this.

There are no stupid questions!

Put all the folders/files into your Skyrim Directory.


injFX_Shaders folder
d3d9.dll
injFX_Settings.h
shader.fx

They all should be in your Skyrim Directory.
 
Does anybody else find that fog in dungeons etc absolutely kills their framerate? Tried all sorts with the settings to dial it back - it would be ideal if I could just disable it.

Really (delightfully) surprised to see mods getting out there this quickly. I guess it's a race to see who can get their stuff out there and become established as "the" mod for their particular area.
