The Final Bosman Show

I quite liked Kyle's take on reviews although I can't help but feel like he unintentionally sidestepped one of the larger issues of modern reviews where anything below say a 7 is considered utterly terrible by a lot of people and anything below an 8 is bad or at least not good.

Kyle mentions how he likes rottentomatoes because it uses the full spectrum which implies the metacritic method doesn't [which I agree with] but I felt he could have gone more in depth into that element of it

Otherwise it's a pretty good episode

I wish he went on another 3-5 minutes on those topics and talked about how people should read reviews, and also how specifically people should use scores if they aren't going anywhere (in his opinion).

So basically Kyle Bosman and Adam Sessler have the same review philosophies. Good to know. He missed a few points but that ending was truly and utterly haunting.

i'm not sure if i should tell kyle that the last ff7 battle is
scripted and cloud always counter attack if you don't do the omnislash immediately....(cloud loses all the materia equipped so it wasn't the counter materia)

I think there is a distinct difference between a product review, and an art piece critique.
Videogames especially, suffer their dual nature in this sense, as you're expected to analyze the mechanical and practical value of its product nature of a toy, while at the same time weighting the deeper nature, craft and worth of its artistic merits.

This is incidentally the same argument about "games as art" we've had pages ago. :)

Interesting. Didn't know that. I always wondered what would happen if you
didn't use omnislash
.

RETURN OF THE POINTLESSLY SHOUTING FOR NO REASON PEOPLE. Fuck.

Cool if they're back for a one off since they do have fans, but Christ, keep them away from GT Time... And anything else that's already in place so I can safely ignore them again.

I think Shane and Marcus were just visiting, probably shooting a Bonus round. Since Elyse was out of the office they skipped the D&D session this week and Kyle, Ian, Huber and Ben Moore played a game called Fiasco. It was really funny, but they forgot to turn off the Twitch stream at the end so you hear them greeting Shane and talking for a few minutes. Brandon Jones and Andrea Rene were also there setting up a shoot which makes me think it was a Bonus Round. Shane didn't reveal anything about the nature of the new site he's working on, but did say they hope to launch in November.

Speaking of D&D, does anyone have a link to the first episode? I can only find recent ones.

Honestly I don't think they're back since Shane, Marcus and a few other GT guys are heading up Shane 's new website.

Hopefully they'll give a job to some of the people fucked over in the DEFY transition (Stevens, Speer, etc).

Otherwise, i echo the sentiment of the site being much better now, however.

Yeah, he did miss that. It seems like he was about to say it but went off on something else.

Did a general Gametrailers thread ever get made? I remember it being discussed in one of these threads but I can't remember which one

I think Snoozer was saying he might make it but as a side project, unless other people were willing to make it now, he/she would be happy to let them do it.

Oh I was just asking...if someone wants to do it now Ill gladly give it up...I was just looking for general interest to work on later...if someone wants to jump on it now im all for it
EDIT: IT sort of dawned on me that I primarily watch Bosman and GT Time and dont know enough about the lets plays and other shows

Thanks that's what I was thinking about

I also don't think I watch enough of Gametrailers to be in charge of the OT however.

I watching this episode about gitarooman and just noticed how hairy his wrists are.

Who are these dumbasses complaining about eh space shuttle?

No wonder people complain the player sucks, should be using progressive mode. =/
I never got the difference, but I don't have many problems with their video player.

Just saw this, I remembered Toy Story 2 after seeing its boxart in the underrated N64 games thread and what Kyle says is exactly what I liked about the game.
You're just a toy jumping around in this house, somewhat like Chibi Robo, and everything is there because it resembles a real house/store/airport/etc.

I got hyped to death when TS3 came out but I didn't really like it, I quit after like 3 levels, too open world for me, and I always hated switching between characters.

It's a little annoying when he gets really quiet and I can't hear him. I don't want to raise the volume a lot because he'll get really loud right after that. (Also, I'm already at max on my bad laptop speaker.)

Anyway, he didn't mention that the actress in the 3DS comemrcial is apparently really famous. Which is probably important.

I also don't like when he will trail off at the end of a sentence and stare at the camera for like 20 seconds. I know it's his comedic style I suppose, but it happens...a lot.

I couldn't tell, was he being serious with actually using that same commercial in the US? That'd be interesting....not sure it'd work tbh. Especially since the woman isn't famous here.

Anyway, besides my negativity, I like the show.
Lol at the ending.

That was a fantastic episode.
I love that Kyle cares about this stuff at all. If I were to make even a paragraph analyzing this commercial here on GAF I know someone would reply with something stupid like, "Dude, it's a commercial. Chill" or something.
