The Final Bosman Show

Wasn't really feeling this week's episode. Mainly because I'm not interested in Metal Gear, nor familiar with R&C. And while the bonus bit had a fun call back it was just flat.

No bad, just not interesting.

I'm not sure a consumer looking to buy it on a next gen system and wants a physical copy would agree with that

Or any consumer who wants a physical copy for that matter

Well I would agree that the physical copy isn't worth it for a game like this, and the next-gen tax is ridiculous. But in the comparison with the Ratchet game, that was $15 on PS3 and download only in NA.

Personally I think he should've just released it as a DL only title for $20 across all platforms. would've saved themselves the headache they have now and potentially could've made more profit off it as there would be no used games. Considering it's length I imagine the used prices will drop like a rock

More power to Kyle Bosman. Gotta vote with your wallet. If he thinks that the game is worth his time and money, then who am I to judge what he likes?

Doesn't seem like he knows that Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty was 15 bucks, not 40 bucks like Ground Zeroes is.
I'm pretty sure he said something along the lines of 'Quest for Booty was 15 bucks if you downloaded it on PSN and 40 bucks at retail.' Plus Ground Zeroes has a crazy price scale across different platforms.

You know what? You're okay, Kyle Bosman. We are on opposite sides of the "is Ground Zeroes dumb" debate, but you did some solid analysis.

thumbs up.

Kyle understands the arguments being made and isn't trying to pass of GZ as a $20, for instance. He just thinks it'll be worth the price. That's cool.

Whilst I completely disagree with him, I thought he backed up his thoughts well in the new vid. Much better than the original argument.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been in a similar situation where I've had a shitty argument against someone, and not realised what I should've said until later.

"I've been trying to make these episodes shorter, and I just can't!"

Good! Don't. I love the current length of these episodes.

And I would totally watch a GT podcast
but only if it was hosted by Bosman

I don't want them shorter, either.

I know it's impossible, but I'd love a weekly half-hour show. We often relate Bosman to people like Jon Stewart, and I wish Bosman was in the position to make a two-segment show each week and have guest spots or something.

I've just always wanted a quality video game program. And, Kyle, if I won the lotto, I'd help you achieve it!

so what? You found a way to pay more for the game. That doesn't change the fact that you can get it for $20. If someone wants to pay more that's their problem. Nothing to do with the game.

Besides the fact that the digital copy for next gen titles is $30 and has the next gen tax built in, many people feel like the $20 would be the max price for an offering of this size/length and it seems unfair to limit that option to last gen consoles digitally, only a quarter of the possible options available to consumers.

I dont mind the GZ way of doing things....I think its actually a pretty damn good idea, and other games (like the AC2 games) could have used the same treatment...but they really need to work on the price....AC: Brotherhood and Revelations to me would have been perfect at $40 each, lots of reused assets, but a decent sized games.....Ratchet and Clank does it right with prices around $20 as the games are fairly short.....but asking $40 for 2hrs of a single level is ridiculous, now at $10-$20 I think that might be pretty darn good

That has everything to do with the game, because it has to do with the price of the game.

Poor argument from him. He's just a blind MGS fanboy, apparently. He can take solace on the fact that he's not alone.

I don't think he's a "blind fanboy" at all, particularly in light of his previous episode about how much he loves good demos and how much mileage he was able to get out of them.

I think his attitude is basically "Let's wait and see how much playtime we get out of this game before we completely condemn it", and that is fair. And he completely calls bullshit on Konami for charging an extra $10 on next gen versions of Ground Zeroes. If all of the side missions and additional objectives in GZ don't add up to much fun, I think he will not be afraid to express disappointment.

He has a good point. Even if the game is worth $20 (or even $40) the different prices should be the headline, not the game's length. It's weirdly arbitrary, confusing, and seems to be getting the precedent for a $70 boxed next-gen copy of Phantom Pain.

Also, if Phantom Pain ends up being over a year off - will they even bother with last-gen versions? Ground Zeroes on PS3/360 may end up being a demo (or Prologue, or taster, or sample, whatever floats your boat) for a game that doesn't even end up on those consoles.

It is? I think it lost its charm after few episodes.
Thats only because your heart has shriveled.

Kyle is the bearer of the torch of gaming optimism in these dark times.

And while I may disagree with him here and there that is only because I'm a cynical old fart that's been microtransactioned one too many times.

Kyle Boscast please

I was skeptical about this episode. I am firmly on the "Jesus Christ $40 for 90 minutes camp?", but despite thinking it is worth his money, he was still very understanding towards those who are upset by it. Gotta respect a man who can empathize with the opposition.

The bigger news from this episode is... what the hell am I doing with my life? I can't remember the last day where I spent less than four hours on GAF, and I had no idea Amazon bought Double Helix. With the amount of time I spend on this site, things like that should not escape my gaze

Yeah, I hate that in the endless discussion of the game's length, what gets lost is that Konami thinks it's reasonable to charge an extra $10 for the next-generation versions. That's something that really needs to be called out.

I met a kid who was a self-professed internet troll....he had severe asperger's and was mildly autistic....besides being fun every once and a while, i do believe on some level that people who troll consistently are doing because they do not have a strong sense of empathy and just love seeing a strong reaction. Its like the people who bug that Chris-chan guy...I have to imagine that many of them have similar social issues, but they can look down on somebody who has them off worse. Its the bullied kids able to bully someone else from the safety of a screen.
