The Final Bosman Show

Loved today's ep and loved the ending. I didn't watch the VGX but from the impressions I've been reading, I guess it is good that I haven't.

ROFL. So good.

Has to be the best episode yet. I like to believe that Reggie basically didn't have a choice and was forced to go and reveal Cranky Kong
While I can imagine him not being allowed to do anything Smash-related like Geoff asked about since I believe Sakurai tends to have the final say on when to reveal characters, new features and the like regarding Smash, even if it was just the old trailers being shown to a new audience I felt having Bayo 2 and X alongside Cranky Kong (which I was simultaonously happy to see and thought was hilariously inept foresight on Nintendo's part) would've given Nintendo's showing much more variety. A somewhat risque action game, classic Fucking Donkey Kong™ platforming action and another game with guns and robots to go alongside Desitny and Titanfall.

I know others argued otherwise in the speculation thread leading up to VGX, but I don't think X and Bayo would've been a bad fit at all for the show.

Oooh. You probably can't say anything so I'm just going to throw some guesses out. Publishers were playing hardball in part because they didn't want to spend a big part of their budget in a non-E3 venue where they may not be the biggest story, hence why the "commercials" weren't all that awe inspiring.

If you ever work with Keighley again could you ask him two things?
1) Is he getting enough sleep? He always looks tired. I imagine he's a workaholic but I hope he gets enough rest. But that may just be the way his face is and I'm just being a jerk. (sorry)

2) I don't know if he has the final say on his on-air wardrobe but he doesn't have to dress like J. Allard. He's handsome enough that he could pull off a business casual look with a button up, jacket, jeans, and no tie. Kind of like Bosman, he pulls off a professional look without looking stodgy.

I am free to say whatever I want, I don't work for GameTrailers anymore. But due to how easy it is for people and corporations with money and attorneys at the ready, I'm not going to say anything about VGX on record.

You've seen:

1. The screen cap of the official GameTrailers account saying "Hit mute now" during the stream.

2. "Spike sought to re-invent the VGA's this weekend, and, uh, shoot, they invented something..." Kyle Bosman

3. "I can't talk too much about the actual, uh, production of what the VGX turned out to be..." Kyle Bosman

I can say a lot because I don't work for GameTrailers anymore. That said, I'm not going to say anything because it won't help the situation.

Geoff works hard for games and gaming, and as gamers, you should support him and help him make the video game industry a better place.

So my measly human brain needs to place blame on someone for the VGX. Can I blame Spike execs then? It's the only way I'll be able to sleep at night.

Once again, Kyle is the "enthusiastic member of the press" we deserve and need desperately. I'm surprised by how far he went criticizing Spike TV, I wonder how many "enthusiastic members of the press" would have done the same while in his shoes.

A shoutout to Danny from Gamespot, who made a video along the lines of this one, calling out the VGX for the bullshit show it has been.

Kyle is a fucking genius, man. That's all there is to it. His meta-analyses have humanized that entire website for me. Bossman is a product of GT and vice-versa. It feels good knowing that Kyle's awareness has diffused throughout the staff there (or at least, brought that awareness to the forefront). GT is so lucky to have found this guy.

"What kills me is the thought that people not knowing what Game of the Year is might go and buy a video game and like it. They might like something else. And that drives me insane."

PERFECT.

GameTrailers is damn lucky to have found Kyle. And the progression of the show really is a story, small desk to bigger desk.

Meh, wasn't feeling it. They can't all be winners, I guess. Happy Holidays though, Kyle. You provided a lot of entertainment this year and made me realize that despite all their flaws, I still have a lot of love for dumb elephants.

No doubt about it. What I love most about Kyle is that he sort of made his own fame.
If I'm not mistaken the first video he was in was something about the PS4 conference he made on his own without really telling anyone and it went over so well that they gave him his own show.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, he kind of just "gets it." He's down to earth and feels like one of us, instead of other outlet personalities. We cheered for him when he showed up on Spike's live coverage of E3 instead of booing him.

Here's to Season 2. Can't wait!

"Why didn't you just pick the game you liked the most?"

"Because people won't know how cool I am."

oh god so good haha
