Um, compared to what little we've seen of the PS3? Yeah, not that impressive.

Perhaps you ought to know that graphics are not a big deal to me, those odd games (which I give the nod to MS for) are.

Here I am sliding into more support for MS than ever, and because I'm not buying the damage control about the PS3 conference I'm suddenly on crack. Fanboys FOAD.
I still cannot phantom that some people think the xbox360 tech isnot impressive?!?! are you just going by the games they have shown you or by what ps3 says is ingame and not fmvs?

edit: I know I quoted you but this seems the general consenes(sp?) at gaf

While I'm interested in how the PSP plays into the PS3, as a controller and a remote, and how it can be used with games, I have to say that the Xbox 360's ability to connect to my home network and my PC has peaked my interest as well. The ability to plug various devices into it has some real potential.

I'm sticking to my earlier comments on the systems as well. We'll see a lot more of the games over the coming week, and probably learn a lot more about the systems as well. At this point, Gears of War looks amazing, and Killzone 2 does as well, but to me, there isn't a huge difference between them yet. Sure, GoW has framerate issues, but all games do in alpha stages. How much of Killzone was actually in game footage? Maybe we'll know more in a few days. It's difficult to get to excited about any of these games on either system until we know what is real and what isn't.

That said, those PGR3 screens are beautiful!

The problem with banking on graphics technology as the selling point for a system is that you can be one-upped. It happened to Sony last gen. Why do you think people rallyed around the Xbox initially? For some, it was Halo, but an awful lot of the talk was becuase it was so much better than PS2 graphically.

So, Sony comes out and shows (early, to MS's surprise) the PS3 and no surprise, the graphics are better. Hence the "not impressive" but from me. The *only* thing that surprised me is that we saw this stuff now-- I figured Sony wouldn't have anythign this far along.

And, as I said at first, the only thing you can really compare at this point *is* graphics (and a guess at developer support) which Sony seems to have trumped MS on. I don't really know why you are surprised. Pissed, perhaps, as an Xbox fan, but not surprised. Sony trumped MS at the PR game.

And, as for me personally-- I think MS has been taking over the quirky-game corner of the market, and that makes the Xbox 360 *more* appealing to me, although if Sony is the market leader they'll have a lot of those games, too. Despite the fact that Sony's machine does impress, I'm more excited for the Xbox than ever before (although I am certainly getting a PS3 as well).

I think all the talk of "that's not ingame!" is damage control by people who've been proppng their fanboy selves up on graphical superiority for the last few years. Look at the longer trailers, there's stuff that clearly *is* ingame and looks fantastic. Sega's fighting whatis for one. And a pretty strong case being made for Motor Storm being realtime at least, and that was really amazing.

Oh god, talk about New Sexy. (btw - <3 the Rev design too)

It's like a big slab of the PSP casing.

PS3. I am interested in what Nintendo will offer, but PS3 is all I'll need for a few years at least. The UE3 demo voided any reservations I had.

DAMN! But the controller looks crappy! Why no trackball :(

Well I couldn't watch either the MS or Sony PC's yesterday because my sister had to do a project. I am downloading vids right now and so far both systems have impressed me equally, I would give PS3 a slight edge cause of the Killzone and Motor Storm demos. 360 has some awesome looking games too, Gears of War looks amazing IMO.

I won't buy either at launch but I will buy both at some point. Good stuff by Sony and MS!! I am impressed. :)

Btw I am glad that PS3 is backwards compatible with both PSX and PS2, good stuff.

damn my computer is having trouble with the hi res DOA4 trailer, can someone hook me up with a low res version please?

360 is Xbox 1.5, indeed. :)

PS3, on the other hand, is the goods.

...but what the fuck is with using the Spider-man 2 movie font in the name?

Xbox 360 this year, and PS3 next year. I don't plan to wait till the price going down, and as for PS3, I might even import - although I'm assuming the price would be near 1000 dollars. :(

Xbox360. I really think this is a good effort by MS. Good plan all around, powerful hardware and some intriguing stuff - especially I'm psyched up for the Lost Odyssey. Hardware screams of "functionality over design". I love the controller. Wireless and free Live is another bonus, as well as capability of being Multimedia center is another good point. (hope I would be able to put some codecs for XBMC)

PS3. Right now, I'm not too thrilled. I mean, I've seen their tricks and FF7 realtime demo doesn't really impress me as I've seen PS2 doing FF8 dance scene too. When I see the real game screens with HUD and all - I'll be more excited. Console looks like a Scanner or Bose music system, and "wtf of the year", controller - and do not approve highly un-original Spiderman font logo... but heck, it's a Playstation. N'uff said.

Revolution. Although there's not much to it, I like the small and slim design, and I'm very curious about what the big fuss might be about the controller and it's capability.

I'm getting all 3 consoles, so doesn't really matter to me. Each of them has enough "early" exclusives to make the purchase worthwhile.

360 all the way. Graphics can only impress me for so long. Halo 2 had very choppy and unstable graphics at times but, holy stunner, I play it all the fricking time because the online is so damn smooth. Everything that MS talked about as far as 360's Live Component blew my shit away. All of the graphics demos with ducks and water bored me to tears. I could care less if its in game, out game, or hand delivered from ILM. Show me something NEW & better looking not JUST better looking.

So, 360 on launch, PS3 whenever they release a Wipeout game for it.

Ditto. I might pick up the 360 at launch. Still have some questions but I'm sure they'll be answered over the coarse of the next few days. PS3 (the New, New Sexy) is mine once they release a game that doesn't have a number. :P

Wow. A fellow non biased gamer. I love you.

If you asked me yesterday, it would have been PS3 hands down.

But today I answer Xbox 360 for a couple of reasons.

1) I saw the HD footage of the Xbox games, knowing that they are realtime.
2) The rumours that Sony's PC was full of pre-rendered graphics aren't being downplayed by Sony. It's not too hard to come out and say that it's all real-time.
3) Live sounds better and better the more I hear about it.

Another way to put it, the 360 is real, and the PS3 is currently much like the Revolution, a dream that is going to be fulfilled as some point in time. Whether or not it acheives what it aims for has to be seen, but as we all know, the PS2's unveiling was quite similar to this.

PS3 has a great potential line up.

BUT DOES IT INCLUDE NHL 2K6? I DON'T THINK SO!! :)

360 has an improved version of Live
PGR3 & GR3 looked more impresive than anything Sony showed or announced for me.

GTA series makes my penis soft and isn't a factor, but those who are dying for a PS3 just for this launch title, I understand totally. I'm the same way with PGR3, GR3, SSX4, Burnout 4, Halo 3. It's all about the games, and MS's console has had the FPS's & racers so far, and those are my 2 fav genres.

Joke question?

PS3 all the way.

Right now Xbox 360 is suffering from the aftershock of PS3.

-edit

sony needs to fix that fucking controller, though. :lol
