The final word. Playstation 3, or Xbox360?

xbox 360 at launch, ps 3 after price drops for me

sorry but outside a few games, the sequels to the same old games from way back psone are getting tiring (tekken 6, gt 5 mgs 4, dmc 4etc. etc.). I'm far more interested in Heavenly Sword and Insomniac's fps than "japanese ps2 game" XXXVI

More powerful the 6800U in SLI? Sounds good on paper. If those pics are realtime, then I'm buying both. You'd be stupid (which most fanboys are) not to get both. Yet, I really don't trust Sony. I thought PS2 would be the shizznit yet, it's the weakest in terms of power this gen. I think this gen will have nothing to do with power. It's all up to the developers to create fantastic games. So to conclude, I'm getting ALL systems

:D

PS3... For the franchises I care about being there.
I was thinking on buying a X360 in order to beat JSRF (only game in the entire XBOX lineup I care about...and I purchased long time ago). But the BC thing is pretty sad.

I like my sequels AND original titles. PS3 will have an abundance of both :)

Xbox 360 is a fantastic machine.

But MS have practically done Sony's work for them with a shit showing. Rare suck.

Sad.

Having said that, I'll wait for more concrete screenshots / images before making firm decisions. Sony's online commitment pales next to Xbox Live.

We'll see...

As opposed to Halo 3, Perfect Dark 0, Ninja Gaiden whatever, and EA sports game xx?

Halo is different, since it's just parts of an epic story arc. There is only one other Perfect Dark or Ninja Gaiden game. I don't see how they're comparable.

Oh, so the 'story arc' makes it acceptable..uh huh. PD0 is still a sequel. And there's been at least 4 Ninja Gaiden games before the Xbox one.

The problem with 360 at this point, IMO, is the lack of software being built from the ground up on the machine. The 2 most impressive games, GoW & PGR 3, are the only games that arent just Xbox 1 ports (Oblivion and GH3 not included).

Ninja Gaiden Arcade
Ninja Gaiden NES
Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos NES
Ninja Gaiden Atari Lynx
Ninja Gaiden MS-DOS
Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom NES
Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos MS-DOS
Ninja Gaiden Shadow Game Boy
Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom Atari Lynx
Ninja Gaiden Game Gear
Ninja Gaiden Sega Master System
Ninja Ryukenden PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16)
Ninja Gaiden Mega Drive (Genesis)
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy SNES
Ninja Gaiden Xbox

I'll be getting both. Looks like I'm buying a console for Team Ninja games again, but this time it'll have at least 2 great looking RPGs to go with it:D

PS3 is a no brainer.

yeah because ninja gaiden xbox is so similar to those games :rolleyes
It could be called by another name and no one would notice.
You all damn know what I mean.

The real difference that strikes me between PS3 and Xbox360 is not the quality of the rendering. I'm sure both can come up with similar imagery in pics. It's the animation that sets them apart in my eyes. I saw the Killzone 3 video and, ok, I'll wait for proof for that to be ingame because it's just unreal. But Heavenly Sword (which DeanoC on Beyond3d assured was ingame) is almost as impressive. People look 'alive' the way they move. And then there's Warhawk, the Insomniac game and so on. When I look at Quake 4, Gears Of wars (to name the most impressive, better forget about stuff like Full Auto) I just see awkward animation. Don't know, I'll gett every console anyway, but if this is any indication of what to be expected, PS3 is really going to be the true-next gen system in my eyes (of course, as far as graphics are concerned).

Looking at the amount of FMV's *this* gen, yeah that'd be true.

Please, explain - how do you play an FMV? I am curious :lol

At this point, all Sony has to offer is fluff movie hype bullshit. I want to see REAL games running on REAL hardware. I won't get fooled again. I bought into the PS2 hype and I regret that. I won't fall for it again. I will be getting an Xbox 360 and if Sony can prove to me after launch of their system, I will pick it up most likely too.

But I am certainly not falling for Tech Demo nonsense. I sincerely doubt they even have finalized software so I would bet the FF movie is just that - a movie.

I'll be getting all three major systems, but not hastily as in previous ventures. Sony's controller is going to take time to get accustomed to and Nintendo's turtle-pace will allow me to get that system last. The 360's appearance of being the "next progressive step, involving gaming", will be my first purchase.

For the record. PS3 controller is super-wack. Are the controllers backward compatible? I do hope so.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PSP! Yay!

My only fear is due to the big-budgets that are required to make games for these titans of systems - the independent true-schooler of a development team will not be able to step into the arena. Basically, lack of originality will be my fear and big-budget movie blockbusters will be synonymous with gaming as well. Please ease my worries. Thank you.

I've really only started digging through the stuff from last night (stupid timezone differences) :)

I'm getting both. But I'm more impressed by PS3 at the moment. It seems convincingly more complete, and more powerful (and i'm looking at the spec here, and only keeping a wary eye on the demos). I'm surprised by how much Sony has shown...the number of games is surprising.

Just responding to your initial comment. :)

When there's so many FMV's in games, that's what I was referring to.

That's fine.

I just think FMVs suck in general. RE4 did it right. No FMVs. All in game engine cut scenes. That is the future. I don't want to see another FMV ever again. Psychonauts is a cool game, but dammit - it still uses FMVs. I hate that.

IMO

Next gen = DEATH OF FMVs.

But please. Why pledge alliance to one console instead of enjoying the games to all of them? People really need to stop loving the consoles and start loving the games.

With that said, both. And definitely Nintendo's new one too.
So far, the only reason I have any remote interest in X360 is because of Gears of War and I know that Halo 3 and Ninga Gaiden 2 will eventually be released on the console, so its just not worth spending so much money on something I wont use too much. As for PS3, the games they have announced at their conference was enough to make me want to buy one and Nintendo's first party games are too good to miss out on.

Something we agree on, whoa. After the first viewing, an FMV is useless, IMO.

Except the real-time cutscenes taking over in some games is still pretty much the same thing, IMO. Non-controllable scenes or whatever.

PS3 by a country mile, not to say that Xbox360 isn't impressive, because I find it impressive. But I was really impressed with the hardware features for the PS3, and their demos really kicked serious ass, so Sony is my choice.

Until the New Sexy, that is.

No, most of the time it isn't. Most times you can tell its an FMV because the resolution isn't as high or the video appears more "pixelated"

I don't mind cut scenes per say. I just want all of them to be in engine. What really blows is when the FMV looks better than what the game can put out. It just doesn't appear seamless.

There is nothing wrong with cut scenes, just FMV.

I don't know. PS3 impressed me more, but Sony have proven they are not to be trusted when it comes to early footage. I think most of it was pre-rendered.

yeah.ps2 tech demos were realtime ( old man,the ff8 saloon, the ducks) xbox tech demo ,raven mas a prerendered video

Want to buy me a PS3 and Revolution then? Cause I can't afford them because of tuition. I would also enjoy feeding myself so I don't starve to death.

That's not what I meant and I think you realize that. If you can't afford all of them, then it's final - you'll stick to one of your own choice.

I think the NINTENDO PARTY will have something to say after this morning!

But between PS3 and XBox360, it's pretty obvious PS3 is the most attractive choice at the moment. The big question mark for me is whether Sony can deliver a unified online solution like XBL. If not, then Microsoft doesn't have much to worry about because Microsoft will fill that niche just perfectly fine.

I'll still get both at launch, though. I don't think I could be without 99-Nights, Lost Odyssey and Gears of War for long.

I will stand in line for PS3.. no questions asked. that was just awesome.

X360, eh.. probably after a some decent exclusive games come out for it. definitely not at launch.

can't wait for the Nintendo conference today.

"Wait and see" approach for me. When all 3 consoles are out I'll make a decision.

As it stands now, PS3 looks like the best option, but...I dislike the look of the console itself, and the controller, and the lack of a hard drive and decent online service. 360 has all of that in the bag, it just (so far) does not have the games, graphics or support to back it up like the PS3 does. But whatever, I'll go where the games are, be it PS3 or 360.
