The Flash |OT| Gotta Go Fast - Tuesdays 8/7c

I have never joined a "ship" until The Flash. I understood what they were ever since seeing some Kirk/Spock fanart in a media studies class but I always thought it was some strange fandom thing, like taking innocent remarks totally out of context and turning them into some completely fabricated idea of the two people actually being in a relationship.

I knew about how all these people want/wanted Oliver and Felicity to be together, but whenever I saw Felicity I was more like "omg she's cute I want her" rather than "omg they should be together".

But with Barry and Caitlin I don't even want Caitlin (that much). I just want the two of them to be together, they are too damn adorable. And now I'm sitting here at work watching freaking Snowbarry fan montage videos. How did this even happen to me haha.

So LTTP since I normally binge watch shows. Watched ep 8 which is the Flash/Arrow crossover. Holy crap that might be the best superhero fight I've seen on TV.

But the episode of Arrow where Flash shows up has Captain Boomerang. Both episodes were awesome, but I might put the Arrow episode higher just because of Boomerang.

Finally caught up and holy damn. This has to be the best comic book TV show I've ever watched, every episode just keeps me glued to the screen watching and I absolutely love the universe.

Now its time to catch up from Arrow's season 2 onwards.

I always thought Boomerang would be this cheesy villain that'd be stupid like Vertigo Mark 1 but they actually pulled it off and made it cool.
I prefer Arrow's episode over Flash as well if I'm honest.

Yeah. Arrow had awesome trilogy of episods with villains there. First Cupid, then Boomerang ang ending with Ra's. So much awesomeness.

Followed by the Trilogy of Disappointment.

"Hey guys, let's do an arc where the focus is on all the characters that aren't Oliver, but then add another Oliver storyline to it, and then as soon as the characters really come into their own, we bring in Oliver. Y'know, take'em down a peg or two. Before they start becoming characters. I shudder to think."

Seriously. If anyone wants to see that kind of arc done right, watch Angel Season 2 (I mean that season's amazing anyway, so there's also that).

Meh. I liked it. Roy and Laurel definitely come into their own during trilogy and it was good they had glimpses of Oliver around.
I mean, we all know he was alive. It would be beyond silly for the show to pretend otherwise.

You mean the Angel storyline where Wesley/Gunn/Cordelia stopped working together the second Angel left and only rejoined forces for trivial reasons?

Knock Arrow all you want, characters weren't all 'no Oliver? Fuck it, we're done.' And I say that as someone who enjoyed Angel: having everyone walk away, even briefly was... really odd.

New episode today:
Season 1: episode 13 "The Nuclear Man"

Barry goes after Ronnie when he realizes Caitlin's fiancé is a dangerous meta-human who attacked a physicist. To track him, Barry visits Dr. Martin Stein who is working on a project called F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. Meanwhile, Barry struggles to balance his duties as the Flash with the relationship he has with Linda Park; and Joe enlists Cisco's help to reinvestigate the murder of Nora Allen.

That happened in Angel for one episode, and it made sense for that to happen as well, since those three were really all in it for Angel and without him, they were a bit lost. Plus they were fired. Kicked out. Booted. Makes sense that they had a rough time getting it back together. They pulled it together right quick though. And actually, Team Arrow did just that. Felicity fucking turned the lights out on Diggle and Roy, for fuck's sake.

And I'm not saying they should have pretended that Oliver was dead, I'm saying that right when the rest of Team Arrow, along with Laurel, come into their own, Oliver shows up. It doesn't seem fair to those characters when you really look at it. I wanted to like this series of episodes because, quite frankly, I don't like Oliver that much. And a bonus on top of it, when Oliver shows up, him and Felicity have a weird ex-lover spat. Fancy that.

That being said, too much Arrow talk for the Flash thread. My bad for that.

Nothing is worse than the fallout after Wes' betrayal and the later non reaction to
Cordy's death
