I hoped that maybe we didn't have to go through garbage like this. I guess they have to find something for Iris to do.

Oh come on now, it'll be the B plot for the episode anyway and saying it's garbage is a little excessive. It'll probably be funny. This show has a fairly good sense of humor.

Anyone else think the main reason for the break is because of the amount of CG and SFX this show uses?

I mean, it can't be easy rendering things like a talking gorilla on a TV budget and time line.

It's that it's trying to fit 22 episodes into about 35 weeks. It's the nature of the season starting in September and ending in May. Every show takes breaks, and this is a usual time for it because they want to save up a strong run of episodes for sweeps at the end of the season.

But we already had a double date episode at the beginning of the season. It's fun to do it once, but I don't see what it's going to change this time. Other than making it ultra awkward this time, because Iris and Linda know about Barry having a thing for Iris this time.

Sounds like super fun to me.

Isn't there supposed to be
time travel shenanigans in this particular episode with Iris?

I hope you're right but I don't think any of the Iris and Barry relationship shenanigans have been fun at all. This won't get much better. I certainly hope you're right.

Is that Wells in the glass shattering scene with Joe? Or is it
Pied Piper?

“Out of Time” — 17 March

I (sorta) called it.

Well the last person to find out will obviously be Eddie, so they have to address that at some point, and he'll obviously resent Barry for trying to step in on his girl. Hopefully it's as awkward as the double date scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Yeah, I don't think either show is "in sync" with uhh "real world" time either now since neither had a month gap between the events of the mid-season finale and return episodes. One being ahead of the other isn't going to matter much at this point I don't think but I wouldn't be surprised if Arrow is off some random week, if needed. They might just have Arrow's season finale one week before the Flash's.
Arrow at least kinda is, since in "Canaries"
when Felicity does the verbal bitchslap to Ollie she says he was gone for a month

Desynhronizing both shows might be necessary. I mean, if they ever do a story where changing the past fucked up the present it makes sense then for Arrow to be behind, so that it can ignore the change before Barry fixes it on Flash.

So why does ARGUS seemingly not exist as far as this show is concerned, given that the existence of metahumans ought to be more of a threat from Waller's perspective than anything she deals with on Arrow?

Arrow has shown that Waller has less authority than a US General so Eiling probably wouldn't allow her to be involved in his area.

They also pose very little threat for the moment. The Flash has been willing to help ARGUS and he has taken out all metahumans very fast. ARGUS for instance didn't care about what Oliver did until it threatened to leave Starling

Eddie's life is suffering.

Iris is one of the worst television characters ever. I hope the producers end her character soon. Absolutely terrible everytime she shows up.

I have no problems with Iris. I'm just curious as to where exactly are they going to take her character. Cause I doubt they will do most of the interesting stuff they did with her in the comics.

Maybe it's just because I experienced Laurel on Arrow, but Iris seems perfectly fine. Sure she's the least interesting on the show because they are intentionally keeping her distanced from everything else, but she's not actively bad. Like I said, Laurel on Arrow was far worse. And many other characters on television in general are far worse.

What? No she's not. I keep seeing people say this about unpopular female characters and its bordering on insanity now. There's no reason for you to say this. Not only is she not the worst she's not even that bad.

Iris is great compared to love interest in other shows. I mean really, the only bad thing right now is the fact that she doesn't know Barry is the Flash but that's more so a standard plot issue than a character one.

I guess you can count the cockblocking thing she did with Linda but other than that Iris is fine.

because she's smoking hot?

Why doesn't it make sense?

Well she's a solid 10 and a good person so there's that.

Okay but at the start of the show, she:

1. Lives with her dad, despite being in her 20s.
2. Only has a part time job as a barista
3. Is maybe going to night classes or something to become a journalist?
4. Doesn't have much of a personality to speak of

I'm not even sure she's a "good person". What does she do that indicates she is? I'm not saying she's a bad person, she's just kind of, there.

I will give that she is smoking hot.

The cockblocking is the only time Iris haters have ever had a case. And I barely hold that against her given Barry's fuckboy ass confession at Christmas.

Most Iris hate comes from two places. Either A: people projecting their problems with similar characters from other shows onto her (See: Laurel) or B: projecting their own feelings of unrequited love on her. Not saying these are the only reasons or that people don't have legitimate gripes with her, but the over the top reactions always seem to stem from these places.

What does living at home or working part time in her 20's have to do with her being a good person or not? Lots of people, good and bad, are in that exact situation.

In a world where Barbara from Gotham exists, Iris doesn't even make the Top 100 of bad television characters.
